So, I was looking over the games in Vanilla after work today to find a 1 vs 1 on Road War. As the countdown goes off...we both pick Terran. Let the battle begin!
Me: Terran (Top Right)
Him: Terran (Bottom Left)
I do an 8 rax, 9 depot, 11 rax build and pump the SCV's and marines non-stop. As I hit the 12 marine mark...I grab gas and transfer over 3 SCV from the mineral lines. I toss down a factory for the tanks, I would surely need and also get an academy. I add a comstat and make my first tank. I scan him to see a factory (with add-on) but no academy and 2 rax.
I choose to expand to the gas and mineral location just south of myself. I fortify with a bunker and build a rax there. I have about 6 tanks and 24 marines. Let's move out!
As I'm en-route. I run into his expansion. It was not well fortified and I just let the un-seiged tanks fight it out. Your main base in Road war is quite small...and it gets packed quickly. So he had started to build other tech buildings there. I took out an armory and Starport. I blew past the expansion and made my way to his main. He had many tanks there....so this was gonna be a pain in the ass.
I decide on nukes to break him...along with a small wraith Fleet to contain. I note he is a little light on turret detection coverage. I make a nuke silo on my expansion, and expand to his old expansion. I get to work on some Ghosts. I gave them all the upgrades...making them "James Bond" Class Ghosts. He is harassing me with wraiths a bit...so I make a SV an send it down to my containment force of tanks and marines.
I move 3 Ghosts down and start my attack. My first nuke was somewhat unsucessful...just because I could'nt lockdown enough tanks, he moved them. I make another nuke silo at my other expansion. I also expand again to my mineral only expansion. I have 7 Ghosts now...and try again. I had one nuke ready at the time. I lock down most of em and nuke. He did'nt move the rest. It was quite the explosion I tells ya (Wish I got a pic :*( ). I get all excited and run in thinking he was defeated. Wrong. he had just as many tanks at the other choke. I lose a significant amount of men and pull out.
This is getting very annoying. But I have enough minerals and gas to replace everything fast. Just then, I think...screw the tanks...let's finish with nukes. I send down 5 Ghosts and arrive at the side I nuked before. They run into a small force of marines. One ghost is killed...but then I cloak and am able to focus fire on one marine at a time with my guys to kill him in one shot (Due to infantry upgrades on my part). That was amusing...now back to the mission at hand.
As I arrive at his choke I see him madly trying to get up Turrets. One is already made and he is working on another. I nuke this attempt and move in my Ghosts. I am at the the very heart of his main now. I lock down tanks like mad and place the nuke on his academy (That was the main core of his base). His buildings we really packed together :) . An SCV runs in to build a turret to detect the nuke...but my 3 other Ghosts happly dispatched him. The nuke drops and essentially every-one of his buildings are on fire (That was a sweet explosion too :) ). He leaves with-out saying a word. He could'nt Com-Stat the nuke because I was harassing him with Wraiths before...and he was dried up.
Lessions Learned:
-Expansions are your Life Blood...Defend them well. When his expansion fell....it was all down hill from there.
-Recon. It sucked when I ran my troops into tank fire that one time. I hope my men will forgive me.
-Nukes kick ass. What a way to end a game :D .
All hail Terran!
