Hammers vs Hammers
Tanks and Reavers duke it out.

The map- Lost Temple
YourRoleModel- (random)Protoss 3:00 Start
Langga- (chosen)Terran 9:00 Start

The early game.
Needing vital scouting information, I sent my 7th probe scouting. Lately, I have won a few ladder games just by scouting my own plateau for cannon or bunker pushes and stopping them early.

I went with 2 gateways, then a refinery after my first pair of zealots. I sent the zealots over to his base, but lost them to a group of marines that were dancing... I quickly put up some cannons at my choke and sent a few more zealots with a probe to see if I could set up a firebase on his plateau. They ran into about 12 marines and retreated.

The mid game.
He tested my choke, which had 3 cannons. I saw him laying down a bunker near my choke, and figured that either tanks or a drop was coming. I had 3 cannons nicely placed around my Nexus by this time, having learned the hard way not to try to save money by skipping worker defense.

I could try templar, but they are not really containment busters. Reavers are the hammer of Adun. I figured I would try Reavers with Shuttles and Observers, not forgetting to make dragoons at the gateways. While I was waiting for reavers, I cannoned the cliff above my natural, hoping to hit some of his marines still in my valley.

In my shuttle were a probe, reaver, and zealot. I dropped off the probe on his natural cliff and made a pylon and two cannons. At the same time, my cannons at home engaged his marines and were hammered by his tanks, just rolling into place. At the same time, I dropped my reaver near his gas mine at his main... This was turning into a good game, and I realized that I should take pictures, but it wasn't until later that Joe the Zealot volunteered to fly an old blimp contraption and take some shots.

I micromanaged at my main base, killing an errantly placed tanks with dragoons from my cliff. Then I picked up my probe on his natural site cliff and started for an island expansion. I always take an extra minute to add cannons on the landing area around the islands to prevent a tank drop too.

His other tank was in scarab range from my ramp, so I squashed it.

Returning my attention to the drop on his main, I found that he had retreated or lost most of his SCVs and his refinery and nearby bunker were ablaze. A tank's hydraulic pistons locked it into place just out of scarab range, so I retreated my reaver to kill his gas mine. Finally he killed my zealot and reaver with a tank and marines, but damage had been done, and he hadn't expanded yet and I had. To top that off, I had cannons at the cliff above his natural and had broken his containment.

At this point, I covered the map in observers, started a starport at my northern island expansion, and expanded to the southeastern island. At some point, I fought off a weak tank/marine drop at my main.

He was expanding to his natural, and I sent a shuttle with 2 reavers just north of my cannons there. Joe-the-zealot-war-photographer got a great arial picture of this from his goblin blimp, er... I could have stopped him right there, but I was hoping that he'd be about out of minerals at his main, maynard transfer them, and THEN I would drop the hammer, killing all of his helpless SCVs... Mwahahaha.

I focused for a minute on getting my expansions cranking away, and while I did that, he prepared a defense at his natural that would prevent my drop. I noticed 3 tanks south of his command center, 2 towers, and a control group of marines and medics. He was smart to do this, and in my inattention, I missed my chance to strike.

The end game.
Ok, so I screwed up... but I was pulling in resources alot faster, and I had his attention focused on his expansion. At home, I had plenty of dragoons and a few reavers, not to mention a few cannons and observers. My islands were secure from anything but battlecruisers or some carefully d-matrixed wraiths.

I gathered up some scouts and corsairs, while laying down more cannons and a shield battery on the cliff above his natural. We fought over the cliff, and he even managed a drop where he traded 3 tanks, marines, and 2 wraiths for 3 cannons and 2scouts... not a good trade for him, but I respected that he knew he needed to do something soon.

During all this, I expanded to the 12:00, the 12:00 natural for just gas, and my own natural during our skirmishes, figuring I could afford to lose one if he found it... The 12:00 was the one I most heavily defended, and I laid down some more starports. By this time, I had just about every tech building except for an arbiter tribunal, and enough manufacturing buildings to counter anything he might have built up at home.

Finally, my upgraded airforce was ready with d-web, and I surgically removed his natural and another mineral expansion just east of that, which he had just built.

My war photographer managed to get a great picture of this battle before he caught a piece of shrapnel. His spirit may go on to fill a dragoon, but... we poured malt liquor over the site of his death and vowed revenge.

Still mourning the loss of Joe-the-Zealot-war-photographer, I d-webbed and struck at his choke.

Happiness... Joe had been reborn, not as a dragoon, but as PimpDaddy the Observer. He took more pictures.

A force of pallbearing dark templar dropped in on the other side of the Terran Main to deal with their grieving. It is a good thing they didn't know about PimpDaddyJoe, or they would not have fought so hard.

Finally, Langga sent an airforce of flying buildings against my fleet... fortunatly, the buildings failed to have much in the way of offense. PimpDaddyJoe got a shot, and we all drank a toast of Jack Daniels to his photographic exploits.

Lessons:
Early containment means vulnerability at home.

After losing my first 8 ladder games, and wondering if I should break my CD, I realize that I did not really deserve to have an 800 rating.

After losing my first 8 ladder games, I know damn well that I am not good enough to play a relaxed game vs anyone.

Multitasking to improve your economy while attacking is hard, but key.

Battle Shots!

Two Reavers are ready to drop the hammer.

I missed the window, and needed a larger hammer.

Surgical whack with a hammer.

Choking a choke... maybe it needs some liquor.

The final air war.
