Lifetime Rating for Mind Twist: 4.1333 |  | Yeah, I know I said the ladder loss was my last BR, but this was a weird game. I didn't lose to DT, nor carriers, nor any elaborate end game mass anything strat. I lost to what some call an annoyance strat. The offensive assim.

Me: Random Terran, SE corner

As the game begins and I set up for my standard (read: ETCHED IN HEAD) build, 8th supply, 10 rax 12 rax, 14 supply, the opposing commander screams out with a "YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" that still rings in my ears. I yell back "Toss?" or something like that. He offers me to come scout and see.
I send the SCV that finished my first rax to Tyderis's base.
#1 reason I dislike this map: The bases are set in lowgrounds, with a ramp going UP to a long winding path to the opponent base which comes to the..
#2 reason I dislike this map: It makes ground units walk a big Z shaped path to each start spot.
Anyways, my SCV sees at least 2 rax, 2-3 zeals and lots of probes on min (duh). I am figuring hard ground, no tech first strat, so perhaps no dtemps. Odd... well, I did random, and teching to dtemps vs zerg? not likely :)
I worked out a little build order (It's fairly generic, but I didn't just take it from a website or anything) where I do a wallin, make my first bunk covering as many SCVs as possible (sometimes it's just not possible to do it all in 1 bunker), with the second coming up at the choke, and the 3rd soon after covering the rest of my wallin and scvs.
I've got a bunker at my choke, but the way the damned buildings are angled i had to put it off to the side, leaving i think 4 or 5 zeals free to run in with minimal damage, as they do.
Oh YEAH! forgot to mention, b4 I had a bunker at my choke, or maybe when it was building he got a probe in, and as it falls under fire from 2 or so rines it pops off an assim and dies. I concentrate all my rines fire on it, but it starts to warp in b4 he cancels it!! the time it put me back on getting gas really screwed me.
I started gathering gas and ordered an acad, and my second bunk. Whatdya know, 4-6 Zlots charge past my bunker, and molest my SCV making acad. I cancel it.. which was a bad move. I should've used my rines then on the Zlots attracting them away and getting in some free shots, but I just canceled it. Bad move :p I again micro the hell out of myy rines, and with new ones popping out and lifting off a rax, I JUST get the Zlots off. So I have no acad, 2 bunks that are generally useless...
I knew he had more units coming, and only a few seconds lator 3 goons and 4-6 Zlots come in, and the best micro I do is unloading my last full bunk and concentrating fire on 1 goon, killing it. Tyderis comments on goons, either how they're bad vs rines or too expensive or something.. can't remember. Lets see, I sent 200 min 4 supply for the 4 rines that killed 1 goon, which is (can't remember exactly, guessing) 125/50/2... someone who knows more wanna comment on if that's good or not? I sure don't know, but I can't decide.. Rines alsow build faster than goons, I think..
Anyways, I of course lost. I mentioned that if he had gone dt rush or dt drop (of course w/o that bastard of an offensive assim) I probably could have held it off, esp if he sent them by ground, and most likely if he did a drop, (I couldn't sleep one night so I spent a few hours pondering orver different situations and which first, acad or engbay, just to waste time, hehe). Then he said he never DT rushes! EVER. Well.. would've been a fun game if not for the assim which slowed me down awfully. With walking time I could've stopped any assault on my choke with a better placed bunker and spare fbats/rines/meds.. Then I would've put some tanks down, definitely would've had turrets to stave off a drop.. then I would've had to seen :) he mentioned he liked reavers + temps, and guess what mind likes? infantry, tanks, goliaths.. hehe :)
No real lessons learned, I didn't lose to a real strat (Offensive assim is good, but it's a fluke that probe got by. Oh YAH! I remember, I had 2 rines, mebbe 3, and ordered my rine to WALK to my choke.. doh, what a bad twist of luck :p TWIST. hehe
