Chapter Five: Forward
The massive terran army advanced. They encountered tons of zerg, but the marines made
quick work of them. Many new resource expansions were found, and terrans settled there.
Trevor and Jeremy each controlled goliaths. They had just been trained. Golaiths were somewhat lethargic. Their walker legs wobbled when walking on slanted rocks, but they
didn't fall.
The army had finally spotted creep. A hive loomed in the distance. Sunken colonies
were revealed by the comsat station back at camp, as well as spores. Spore colonies
attach spores to flying units. They were very deadly, and they should be avoided.
The siege tanks changed to their siege mode and the colonies were torn up. Just like the
last battle, the zerg charged immediately at the terrans. The zergs were blown out of the air by the wraiths, and the siege tanks once again took out large pockets of zerg units.
Then the battle intensified. The terrans all split up and charged the zerg. The zerg quickly
circled them and charged too. Marines hid in little trenches and fired from in there.
Every man was by himself in fighting the zerg. The artillery in the back where the
golaiths and tanks concentrated fire on the larger zerg units while the infantry got
their-sized units.
Bullets flew through the air like rain and the constant bang of the siege tank was like
thunder. Tons of zerg suddenly jumped in a large pit. The storm of bullets rained upon those
zerglings. One stupid marine accidentally shot a firebat and 20 marines were wiped out.
Death was surrounding every single individual. The huge field was soaked in human and zerg
blood. More and more zergs were flowing in from all sides. The siege tanks were extremely helpful in stopping them. The terrans appeared to be winning.
The guardians were coming then. The wraiths charged right in. The trail of smoke made the
battlefield foggy. The marines were ordered to all move toward the artillery so they could
regroup.
Miles away the dropship that carried the nuclear strike team was readying to land. They
landed at terran outpost b-64. The outpost had a small mineral field and a command
center with a spinning comsat station on it.
The dropship dropped off the strike crew. The strike crew got the comsat readings.
There was a clear path through a giant trench near a volcano. The strike team set off.
The trench was about 40 feet deep. It was more a canyon. A few waterfalls of magma fell from
the sides of the rock walls. The rocks were strong and jagged. At some points there were endless holes. At one point Dave almost fell inside, but Brian and the ghost (Jake) grabbed his arms before he fell. A few rocks fell down the hole, and no sound was heard.
"Watch out these holes are deeper than we thought" said Jake
Back at the scene of the battle, the marines stood victorious over the zergs. The carcasses
of the zerg were piled and burned. The air smelled terrible.
"We will camp overnight here, but watch out for more zergs. Be ready to exit the tents
in case of emergency." said the commander of the battlecruiser.
Chapter Six: Killing Cerebrate Zek
The marines camped overnight. The tents were placed a little south of where they fought that
day, which is a little closer to camp. There were no attacks except a overseeing overlord
that dropped a few zerglings. Those were quickly dealt with, but the overlord was bad. The
zerg knew they were there, and they would have to be careful.
They had a day of rest. The injured were being treated by the medics, and the scvs made
repairs to the machines. Jeremy and Trevor had no scratches on their goliaths at all. They
were competing over who killed more zerg.
"Hey I killed so many hydralisks you didn't do that much you newbie" said Trevor
"Yes, but I finished an ultralisk. I bet you can't beat that." Jeremy shot back
"Hmm, I almost killed a guardian." smirked Trevor. They contined to argue. They concluded
that Trevor killed more air while Jeremy got more ground units.
The strike team contined to sneak along the canyon walls. They ran out of luck though.
A nearby overlord seemed to have spotted them.
"Oh god! hide!" said Jake
They had nowhere to hide, except the deep holes.
"Lets just hope we don't die so soon" said Brian
The strike team sent Brian down the hole with a rope on his waist. The rope was 10 meters
long. Finally, Brian's feet felt hard ground.
"Its safe" Brian said.
The marines went down the holes slowly. The jagged rocks caused minor scratches, but that
was better than having a zerg eating you. All the marines were down. The chamber was
probably a volcanic tube that had been exposed. The marines slowly walked down the smooth
rock.
The zerglings jumped right into the trench, expecting some lunch, but they found nothing.
The zerglings turned around in confusion and began getting angry. They weren't smart enough to think about the holes on the ground. The zerglings scrambled up and out of the trench and
back to the hive.
"We're safe but lets travel down here where its safe." whispered Jake
Back at the scene of the battle, it was dusk of the day after the battle. The marines
who were wounded had bandages on them, and every marine got their food rations.
The day after that Crat called the Battlecruiser commander.
"So are you ready? What is the casualty ratings?" said Crat
"Yes. only 30% of the marines are dead" replied the commander
"Well I want you to take out sector C-54's zerg cerebrate called "Zek"." said Crat
"Yes commander." said the Commander
"One more thing, are your siege tanks still there?" asked Crat
"Affirmative. Only minor damage." answered the commander.
The transmition ended. The next day, the marines were ready to move again, and the siege
tanks were repaired. The movie moved over volcanoes and rivers of magma. The ground
was extremely dry. There was no animals or plants. Large cracks in the black dirt caused a
lot of the marines to trip. A half a day of traveling brought them to the
cerebrate Zek. They were on top of a mountain and the zerg were in the valley. They had the higher ground advantage.
"This can't be so hard dude" said Jeremy. The ground began to move and zerglings popped out
of the ground. The firebats cooked them before they could be touched. The siege tanks sieged , and since they had higher ground, they could nail the zergs from further away. Zergs tried to run up the mountain. The larger ultralisks fell because the rocks couldn't support their
weight, but the zerglings jumped up with surprising agility. hydralisk had to zig-zag their
way up providing the marines with plenty of time to shoot.
The zerg had a huge disadvantage. The Cerebrate was dying, and the defense was crumbling.
The terrans had 2 victories in a row... but the zerg were restless. They had planned
something and the terrans played right into their hands.
To be continued...
