Notes: I've decided to take a more serious approach to this fanfic. I've decided to call it 'Black Earth'. Deja Vu Parts 1 and 2 are Parts 1 and 2 of Black Earth now, obviously.

Black Earth Part III

Written By: Serious

"We're in the pipe, five by five"

"Okay girls, This time we're at the front. That means no goofing around. I don't want any losses today."

"You got it pops."

"Our inside source tells us that there's an SCV who apparently killed Caspar, and destroyed our tank squadron."

"An SCV killed Caspar? What a joke!"

"Fuck him, lets just go and nuke the base again. I'm sure we can get our hands on one of those dirt rags to make things messy for us."

"Shut up Met."

"Make me."

"Listen up! This is a clean operation. That means no fire unless it's in return. We want to be in and out before they know we're there."

"Fuck. I wanted to test out my new toy."

"That puny thing? It couldn't cut through shit"

"You would know, you live in it."

The slow whirr of the dropship's engines grew in volume as the landing gears lowered, and the giant jets rotated to lower the giant shuttle to the ground. Captain Kippings adjusted the headset over his ears, and grabbed two .44's from off the wall, holstering them in his belt.

"We're just a few miles south of their base. I want no lights, no shooting, and as little noise as possible. That means no talking. Especially you, Met"

"But Captain! Where would we be without Met's loud, unnecessary dribble?"

Met gave Pint the finger before mock-shooting the Corporal with his finger, and mouthing 'fuck you asshole'. The dropship doors hissed open, revealing the bleak darkness of night, and a soft twinkling of lights in the distance. Kippings spoke in a soft whisper,

"Follow me. We're going to meet up with our source, and then capture our boy SCV."

As the black dropship powered down, Kippings and his three men disappeared into the tall grasses, weaving their way towards the Command Center in the distance.

Rod stood outside the forty-second supply depot, leaning against the dirt-stained steel walls of the squat buildings. Holding a lit cigarrete in his mouth, Rod stared out at the bleak plains spread out before him, puffing slowly, his arms crossed. At the creak of a door, Rod glanced to the side of the depot. It was Tom, also dressed in a simple jumpsuit. They had both left their equipment in their lockers. Tom accepted a light from his brother, and took a seat beside Rod. At length, the driver spoke up,

"What's Sith up to?"

"Gone to his room. He's not the partying type."

"It's a shame"

Rod looked out at the long grasses. The whole base was situated on a grassy plain, but all the plants had been burned off the earth in a half-mile radius around the base.

"Wonder if he'll stay a Tank commander. Even if he hasn't done it before, he's damn good."

Rod shrugged, and dropped his cig on the ground, putting it out with his boot,

"The bastard got lucky."

Tod looked up at his twin,

"D'you suppose they'll make him something bigger? Like a BattleCruiser commander or somethin'"

"Why the fuck would they do that?"

Tod shrugged,

"Dunno. Just a thought ... Hey, what was that?"

Tod's eyes focused on a small spot in the distance, his eyes squinting.. There! A red dot, three flashes, and then nothing.

"There's something out ther-umph!"

Tod collapsed, blood dripping from his temple, felled by the butt of his brother's gun. Rod pulled out a small pocket laser from his pants, and turned the light on three times.

"You're too observant for your own good, Tod."

Rod kicked his brother in the side before dodging the slow surveillance light and running to meet the figures hidden in the grasses. Safely hidden, Rod glanced at the five people, grinning as he caught sight of his friend.

"Dick Kipplings, you haven't changed a bit." Rod remarked. Kipping's expression remained focused.

"Where's the SCV?"

"In his quarters. It took some trouble, but I have the keycard to the barracks, and his room."

"And the cameras?"

Rod grinned slyly, and produced a small control box from his pocket, flipping it open and pressing a few buttons. The four soldiers stood impatiently for a moment, watching Rod quietly.

"What the fuck was that? Your garage door opener?"

The box's seven segment display flickered off for a second, before a small red LED began flashing. Rod grinned at Met,

"That, jerkface, was just my men turning off the surveillance equipment. We've got fifteen minutes."

Rod began leading the way through the grasses, and Corporal Pint stood up, brandishing his Gauss Rifle towards the Terran Outpost.

"Let's pay our little friend a visit."

"Erf, this alkeehol stuff really makes me dizzy." Sithicus muttered softly to himself, changing out of his (now rather sticky) jumpsuit and pulling on a pair of baggy jeans and a white shirt. His clothes and belongings hung messily out of a large gymbag, which was quickly stuffed underneath his bunk.
He had been transferred to the tank operatives quarters, sharing a cramped, gray room with five dead men, their belongings neatly packed inside their rucksacks. Nothing but three hard bunk beds and a small photo of somebody's daughter adorned the steel room. Sithicus scratched his face,

"Mia'ght as well jus' go t'sleep. Not lai'ke somethin's gonna happen anywho." He yawned, and lay down on his bunk, staring at the rounded supporting bars that made up the bottom of the top bunk.

"Ah wunner if they're gonna give me a medal or sumthin' shiney. Ah bet mah pa would lai'ke that."

Then, without turning off the dim light, he closed his eyes and fell to sleep. The last thoughts drifting in his mind were of sugar plums and him getting the gold medal in something or another- It didn't matter much, since he was famous even without the medal.

"Aww, sleepin' like a baby." Sergeant Gryff cooed softly, his deep voice projecting across the room, even though he was whispering.

"Don't see what the hype about this dick is" Met commented, his eyes glancing over at Kippings to see his reaction. Kippings' jaw didn't budge,

"Let's grab him and get out of here."

Corporal Pint pulled out a small kit from the pouch on her shoulder strap, and revealed a needle filled with a soft, slightly bluish liquid. The Sergeant held onto Sithicus' shoulders while Pint injected the tranquilizer. The SCV pilot didn't budge, though his breaths became deeper almost instantly. Glancing at the hologram-map in front of him, Kippings nodded,

"Alright, lets get this show on the road."

Leading the way, Kippings left the quarters, the holo-map given to him by Rod held in frontand casting a soft greenish light on the empty hallways. Sergeant Gryff followed second, the limp form of Sithicus hung over his shoulder, Pint and Met followed behind. They were halfway down the stairs to the main floor when Pint glanced up,

"Hey, where's Rod?"

Suddenly, the barracks exploded in flashing red light and noise, a mechanical voice booming in their ears,

INTRUDER ALERT IN BARRACKS A22! INTRUDER ALERT IN BARRACKS A22! INT...

"Shit! The bastards found us!" Met yelled over the alarm, enforcing his grip on his gauss rifle. Kippings unholstered one of his magnums and held it at ready with one hand, holding the map in the other as he quickly descended the rest of the steps.

"Dammit! Door's locked!" He growled, before glancing back at the map. Pint sided up beside the Captain, looking at the map,

"There's a room with a window over here, Cap. I can cut through the bars in under a minute when we get there." Pint said, pointing to a room just down the hall. Kippings nodded,

"Go."

The four soldiers ran down the hallway, and Met turned just as the door to the barracks opened, his gauss rifle blasting the guards behind the steel door and causing them to shut it again.

"Fuck! We need to get out of here!"

"I'm on it" Pint said, pushing into one of the rooms. All of Kipplings' men followed him inside, and Met slammed the heavy door shut, locking it.

"Uh guys, I think we're in deep shit." Pint said softly, her voice crackling in their headsets.

"What the fuck do you mean?" Met turned, and blinked. There was no window, or anything. The room was just one big cell. Kipplings flipped on a flashlight and gazed around the empty room, seemingly oblivious to the red lights and alarms just outside the door.

"Fuckin' shit! The motherfucker backstabbed us!"

"There's got to be a way out."

"Fuck! They're going to come in here with their nerve gas an' kill us all! Let me out!"

Met tried to unlock the door, but it didn't budge. He kicked it, and then slammed his fist against the metal before glaring at Kipplings,

"What the fuck do we do now, man? We're fuckin' trapped!"

"Calm down, I've called for backup."

"Oh, backup! Well, that'll save our asses, if they get here before we're dead" He kicked the door again, "FUCK!"

Pint glanced at Kipplings,

"I can weld an opening big enough for the SCV to get through in a few minutes. If we can get a vulture below us, we can at least hope for a successful mission"

Kipplings nodded grimly,

"Do it."

"Ohh jesus, I got a fuckin' date tonight. Damn these confederate bastards! Damn them to hell!"

"Are you sure, Met? Then you'd meet them in your afterlife" Pint said calmly, not looking up from the laser in her hands as she cut into the floor of the barracks.

"FUCK YOU, Okay?"

"Gryff, Met, get ready for their entry."

The sergeant obeyed, taking the gatling gun off his back and placing the strap around his shoulder, holding it towards the door. Met hit the door once more before grabbing his gun, and flicking on the infrared display,

"Fuckin' bastards, I'll show them."

"The floor's real thick captain. It'll take me at least three minutes."

"Shuttle, we'll need a vulture at our co-ordinates to pick up the loot in three minutes. Understand? Get our SCV and lift off to base."

"Here they come" Gryff said softly. The alarms had stopped, and only the light from Kippling's flashlight, and the blue light from Pint's laser lit the room. A minute passed, leaving the soldiers in the silence of their heartbeats. Met was shaking, sweat soaking into his shirt.

"Almost there.."

Click. The lock opened.

"Time to Die, fuckholes." Met muttered, flicking a switch on his gun.

*crk* The vulture is almost at the waypoint *crk*

"Allmost there..."

"Lets show them what the Omega Squadron's made of, boys."

In a blast of light, the door crumbled, and a team of marines rushed into the room, guns blazing.

"Fuck THIS, Bastards!" Met yelled, and pulled the trigger. A stream of smoke shot from his weapon, and collided with the wall outside the door in a burning explosion that incinerated the marines entering the room, and knocking Mep and Gryff into the wall.

"GOT IT!" Pint yelled, and a portion of the floor fell to the ground below.

"Get the SCV out of here!" Kipplings yelled, his guns blazing, and Pint grabbed Sithicus, pulling him over the hole and dropping him. The unconscious body of Sithicus fell twelve feet before falling into the ready arms of the vulture's driver just as the vehicle drove up. Without any delay, the vulture veered off, bullets richocheting off its back.

"C'mon! Try to squeeze in!" Pint exclaimed over the roar of fire, her slim body already falling and landing neatly on the ground below, rolling into the cover of humongous barracks landing pads. Another explosion rocked the building before Kipplings jumped out, followed closely by Met, who tumbled onto the ground, cursing,

"FUCKERS! They killed GRYFF! THE FUCKERS KILLED GRYFF!"

"Shut up! We have to find cover before we're surrounded!"

"Cap, I think I found it." Pint said, crawling over to a grate in the ground, and prying it open with her fingers.

"There's a sewers running under this base. Hurry!"

"FUCK THEM! I'm gonna fucking get them! GRYFF! I'll kill all of those fuckers! GRYFF!"

"Pint! Grab Met and pull him in! I'll hold them off!"

The Captain grabbed his two magnums and began firing madly at the approaching marines, the confederates diving for cover as he took down more than a couple with his guns. Screaming, Met was forced into the sewers by Pint, who started to follow,

"Captain! Hurry!" Pint held the hinged grate open as Kipplings shot a final round of bullets at the marines and dashed for the sewers, a bullet clipping him in the shoulder and another in the side before he made it to the hole, gasping. Pulling him in, Pint closed the grate,

"Run! I'll weld this shut and follow you!" She called to them, her kit already in her hands. Flipping it open, she grabbed a laser and started melting the metal, while Met supported Kipplings deeper into the sewers, and the marines closed in on the grate leading to the underground.
