A ZerG~LinG Production (flee!)

Hello ladies (yeah right) and gentlemen. Welcome to yet another ZerG~LinG report. As some of you might recall, I said I was working on a "Mammoth" report. Well that's not entirely true... Back when i posted that, I had some crazy idea twirling around inside my head, but suddenly i recieved a mail from RubiksCube, a br.com writer that some of you may remember. He previously made stuff like a basketball report, and some bizarre pokemon-esque fight between Ana and Monty Pylon. In the mail from Cube was his plan for world domination, or something like that. Well actually it was a plan for a Cube/LinG production, a report with a very unique twist, but I won't spoil the surprise, all i can say is that it rocked. BUT! Because both me and Cube posses a huge amout of lazyness the report kinda got of the track, and now its postponed 'till after new year. This doesn't mean I can do reports on the side though, so now I present to you:
LiquidNazgul vs. Tomson

No LinG report without cheesy start pic:
Click pic for more alt-text.............HAHAH FOOLED YA!

If you cant see the pic here's a recap:
Map: WCG_Legacy of Char
Nazgul: White protoss at top left
Tomson: Teal terran at bottom left.

And now for the build ups!

Nazgul: The experienced protoss user decided on a pretty simple tech route, starting with a pylon on 8 psi, and a gateway on 11. Noteable is that he hasn't scouted yet. Seconds later he warped in a gas spitting assimilator and finally a cybernetics core on 14.

Tomson: The polish dude cloned his scv's perfectly and waited until the 9 supply mark to start his first depot just above his choke, thus starting a standard wall. A barracks was started on 11 and a refinery only moments later. Tomson continued his buildup by adding a factory with siege and later a starport for dropping purposes. He too didn't scout.

Hello...cyber?

I aM gOOd maNNer KoReaN uSeR wiTH MonsTeR skillZ The players stay pretty inactive and scout at a very late point, they both find each other in the first place they look. A small skirmish occours between a brave peon and a lesser brave, yet somewhat more powerful, dragoon. Nazgul was very anxious to kill the scv, because he just built a robofac and didn't want to give away his tech this early. Luckily for Nazgul, he warped his tech a bit away from his other buildings, thus hiding them from Tomson's peeping eye. But what is it that Nazgul was so anxious to hide? In the right corner of his base I spot a observatory warping in, the famous 5min observer rush>>>>ya.
Samson, as previously mentioned, was going for a quick to tank drop, this is a very viable technique for this map, since the peon line is ridiciously easy to drop. As Samson loads his two tanks into a dropship, the first observer passes over the terran camp, thereby revealing his plan.
Nazgul react swiftly and places goons at the edge of his plateau, protecting his mineral line. The dropship arrives as ordered, and despite the goon defence, Samson decides to go ahead with his plan. He sieges his tanks below the plateau, but the four goons stationed quickly dispose of the tank threat, losing one of their numbers.

Samson wasn't discouraged though, and quickly loaded up yet another dropship, this time 2 scv's and a tank crammed themselves together and flew away. In the meantime, Nazgul hadn't been on the lazy side, he expanded to both his natural and the top right main. So far, Samson had only spotted his natural, and was on they way to trash it, while expanding to his own natural. The dropship landed its cargo on the cliff above Nazgul's expansion exactly at the 7 minute mark. A fiesty scv's popped out first and started the construction of a missle turret. As it were about to finish construction, the tank landed, immediatly sieging and started hammering down on the still warping nexus. A quick zealot drop quelled this threat with a minimun of hassle.

Update:
There are no hotspots here boy, think im Blaze or something? Nazgul is currently controlling three sources of income, his main, natural and on the top right main a nexus is nearing completion. He is massing speedy zealots and a few goons, together with more singing observers. Because of these lingural gifted units, he has knowlegde of every move Samson makes. His total control is currently at 70.
Tomson controls his main and natural, currently his bases are well protected with siege tank patrolling the cliffs, while his vultures place mines all over the perimeter. His five factories are producing more vultures every minute than the word "Smock" appears in Gojky's reports. At the moment though, his troop count is a little behind Nazgul, with a total of 58 supply demanded.

"The time has come, and so have you" -The immortal words of Strega, ending his lesbian report.

The infamous Goon Block, my all time favourite BW stratNazgul's expansion at the top right main has finally finished warping, the lonely probe stationed there begins the construction of a gateway and a cannon for static defence. This doesn't go by unnoticed though, one of Tomson's scv's (now known as Leon =P ) went out on a long journey to cast the Ring into the flames of mount Doom, but instead he found Nazgul's expansion, Leon knew what he had to do, he radioed back to Samson, who sent out a battalion of vultures (8). Before they go up the ramp to the base they place several mines, to delay any reinforcements. The vultures hit the base hard, killing the cannons, that were so hastily built, before they finish warping. A few goons escorted by a observer is ordered by Nazgul to save the base. They slowly gain ground, but is delayed because of the minefield. As they finally get up the ramp to the vultures, Samson orders them away after a short battle, it looks as if the cost effective vultures could escape with only minimal losses. But just before they race down the ramp a dragoon moves its bulky mass in the way, the vultures are surrounded and are quickly disposed. A pretty effective attack to say the least, Nazgul lost some goons, and his expansion nexus, but while the fragmentation granades were still flying, Nazgul started another expansion just below the plateau.

Fun fact: The vulture is the fastest (and most irritating) unit in the entire game!Samson posses a good amount of macro and controls a pretty large army, while the vultures were harrasing he had built additional tanks and had unsieged his base defenders. The proud tank drivers and vulture speeders headed out for the big area in the middle, ready to do some harm. Nazgul had his trusty observer patrol this important area, and realize the imminent threat. His goons charge in first, before a single tank had been sieged. Samson starts sieging up, but only does so with a few of his tanks, leaving some for defence against melee units, should the need arrive. And need he should get! Five zealots charge in, after the goons had taken the first shots, thereby saving the zealots from the arclite hammer. Psi blades hack through the plated metal, but fresh tanks was rallied to the battle and shot the zealots from a safe distance. But now, the tank push had changed into a tank retreat, with Samson desperatly unsieging his front tanks, trying to retreat them back to the newly sieged reinforcement tanks, finally the tanks find safe ground and the dragoons are getting slaughtered. A shuttle arrives from the west dropping zealots among the sieged tanks. This severly cuts down Samsons tank count, but again, fresh reinforcements kill the damaged zealots.
There seems to be quite some confusion among these zealots... Finally Samson holds the middle with two tanks. but before the dust clears, seven vultures race towards Nazgul's natural, laying mines and trying to club some innocent probes at the protoss natural. A single cannon meets the threats with uplifted chin (can a cannon do that?) and shoots at the racing vults, Samson sees the futility in dealing with the cannon and heads for the main, but fresh goons rush out of the main's gateways and dispose of the vulture threat.

Update: I'm gonna SMOCK BZZORT your ass! The previous battle had taken its toll on both players, but in the end, Samson had taken the middle, he is currently builiding missile turrets and a few supply depots to block the way and add to the defence. He has just begun another expansion at his second natural (1 on the map), raising his income to a total of three active bases. At the moment, he is still producing tanks from six factories, with the odd vulture now apearing a lot lesser.
Nazgul had once again expanded at the top right main, which means he controls four income bases. He has a massive troop count, claiming 120 psi. Finally, in case you're wondering, the teal spot at the bottom right main is not a exp, but a floating engineering bay, with a probe underneath it.

The legacy of char unfolds...*cough*

In the last pic, you can actually see 'The smoke clearing'Nazgul was pretty pissed that Samson had taken the middle, with that in his grasps, he could easily take the bottom right main and expansions, which would leave Nazgul completely out of the game. So the staltvart protoss commander prepared himself for a new battle, the first part involved small two zealot drops on Samson's tank push, whereever there wasn't a nearby turret watching. The good thing about these drops is that when you land the first zealot, the tanks in the perimeter shoots at it, thus delievering huge amounts of splash damage to the tank. If there's tanks enough (and Samson had quite a few tanks) the zealot will die, taking the tank with it, and if you're extremely lucky, the other zealot will come out late enough to avoid the splash, but fast enough to engage another tank. And in a tank push situation, two tanks are a lot more worth than two zealots. After this small drop Nazgul was ready to go. He split his units into groups and used Ctrl-# to optimize timing. "My life for Aiur!" The zealots charged in with their leg enhanchements being put to good use, only a few feet behind, the huge spider tanks where crawling forward, with pulse cannons ready to fire. Arclite shots fall, killing some of the front zealots, but thus allowing the others several free hits before they too fall to more aclite shots, but as the last frontline zealot died, 8 goons are left unscared and ready to fight the tanks. The brave tank drivers fight right to the end, but ultimately it's not enough, as the smoke clears, smashed metal plates and a human head is all thats left in the middle of the once so great terran defence. Six dragoons and a lone zealot stand victorious, or so it would seem... Three vultures and a tank arrives horribly late for the main battle, but succeds in killing a few wounded goons, thus leaving the bloody middle in the hands of a single goon.

Happy New year! (I dont have anything funny to put here =(As always, these progamers are full of surprises, while Nazgul's attack was underway, he started a new expansion as the bottom right main, thinking Tomson might be to dstracted to notice and react. But Tomson ain't no fool either, he reacted quickly and sent his, by now, standard pain in the ass team. Eight vultures headed off to the enemy base, with hopes of finally finding the one Ring, the Ring to lead them all and, oh, i'm getting carried away a bit here =) Anyhow the vultures reached their destionation and found a nearly finished cannon (what, no ring?), the probe there was a very brave probe, but fell quickly to the fellowship of the ring (ahem sorry again).
Seconds later, a command center was flown to the bottom island, making the income race even. While the CC was landing, Nazgul's reinforcements had arrived outside the bottom right main, there they meet up with the vultures, mines were placed right next to the goons dispacthing of them with the loss of only two vults. Samson, full of hope after this small succesful skirmish, took his nearby dropship and loaded three vultures up, after a quick trip to the north he landed them behind Nazgul's peon line. Two goons were sent to intercept, Tomson could easily have outrun these and escaped but certain "other" events distacted him, namely, a sizeable group of misc. protoss units were charging his defences! 10 zealots and a few dragoons followed by two templars slammed into the tanks. The front two tanks were placed too far away form the others and were killed without losses, but as Nazgul proceded with his attack, he meets more resistance: To aid his tanks Tomson had taken ten scv's away from the minerals and had thrown them into the fray! These brave fighters succeded in blocking the zealots from the tanks, allowing the sieged ones to get in more shots before they were overrun. Fresh tanks decided the small battle though, and Nazgul was forced to look at his two poor templars die, without releasing a single storm =(.

Le Archownage! Muhahahaha my archon owns your ass GG no re mothaf0xorAlthough Samson had only a small handful of tanks after the latest battle, he decides to take a chance and set up another tank push in the middle, this doesn't go by unnoticed though, and Nazgul shows off the result of his templar tech... Not storm but Archons! (weeeeee!) A lone archon, 8 goons and five zealots charge into the small terran camp in the middle, all arclite shots hit the archon, but it survives with only a small portion of shields left. Nazgul isn't content with taking the middle, and charges on into the much fought over pass leading into Samson's base. A whole assload of tanks are already stationed there, with a few vultures hastily laying mines all over the shop. The zealots die quick, but the remaining goons are hastily reinforced by a shuttle containing four zealots. The warriors from Aiur blast forward and pushes Samson and his men back to his 2nd natural, further than any zealot had ever been before. They succed in killing a few scv's and the scanner there, but are ultimately owned by four tanks sieging on Samson's main plateau.

samson gets his ass owned by insane amounts of zeal dropsSamson finally felt safe with his cliff tanks, and were now happy without the middle, infact he was so damn happy that he immediatly flew three dropships out on a turbo newbie hunt! they landed on the second natural at the top right main (see pic) and started hammering at the nexus and poor probes, Nazgul tried to land a few zealots, but with a bunch of goliaths guarding the small strip of land, it was not easy, he had to move in units below the cliff, to distract fire long enough for him to land safely, but in the end he did get four zealots off, killing a good deal of goliaths. But still the lone tank was pounding the nexus below, Nazgul promplty took three goons and placed them below cliff for uphill shooting, while landing another four zealot package. The goons below were easily dealt with, but the zealots proved too much for Samson, and he retreated with his last gollers in a dropship... Or did he? NO! he didn't! Two more dropships came from the south and joined the one with the gollers, they headed north, looking for another cliff. Lo and behold if it isn't the cliff of the top right first natural. Three tanks and a few goliaths were landed, but once again zealots followed not far behind. Samsom tries to be a total pain in the ass and takes his remaining gollers down from the cliff and places them below, leaving the surprised zealots on the cliff. This trick is easily countered by more goons though. While all of this "shit" was going on, Nazgul expanded at the bottom right's first natural, in the opposite corner of his main! I dont know how the hell that probe got there, but the expansion was being finished during the drop fun.

The infamous 'Goon Block' can't even be compared to the gosuness of the 4 interceptor carrierSeeing how Samson had made a trunkload of goliaths, Nazgul decides to employ the only viable counter to the walking monstrosities. The carrier, not just any carrier, but the ones with only four interceptors! BAM! SMACK! GHACK! (ghack?). I don't know how Nazgul managed to come up with this brilliant plan, but fact is that four carriers are heading south, crossing the middle as we speak! (Or, as you read). Since Samson isn't a complete ass he decided to counter these kings of the skies with a shitload of wraiths, and he even equipped them with the cloak technique. The carriers head for the bottom island, not realizing the imminent threat. A quick scan fills the air surrounding the carriers, and 10 wraith swoop in and kill the lone observer, thus leaving the carriers without any detection. Nazgul finally reacts to this after one of his carriers is shot to the ground, leaving 3 and a total of 12 interceptors (Thats 4 per carrier dude). Nazgul retreats his wounded behemoths of the sky and protect them with two more observers and a couple of dragoons. Once again, he is free to hammer the island expansion. Wraith soar in again, this time from the east, but meet a horrible fate as they chase the carriers over the waiting goons, who quickly grounds the invisible planes.
This leaves Samson without any major anti-air and therefore he leaves the game, leaving Nazgul as the winner!

And so ends the legacy of char, at least until someone else plays the map =)
I hope you all liked this, my newest report, and I suggest u keep an eye out for the upcoming Cube/LinG prodution, its gonna own! I wonder if i should give y'all a little preview, something to get ya exited... well allright then, here's a pic from the future report!
