Hello and Welcome to my first battle report! I hope that somehow this will bring happiness into your life, whether by providing you
with an enjoyable reading experience or by making your own battlereport look that much better due to its suckyness! Eitherway
enjoy!!!
I logged in to battle.net and headed straigt over to Clan (slr). Upon my arrival I noticed that things were quite busy with about
9 people in the room (for Clan (slr) thats alot). I asked if anyone wanted a game, Fish was the man to respond. As I'm relativly
new to the channel (about 3 months) I had never played Fish before, although I had seen some Replays of his from SCU and he looked
rather good, I agreed and we were off.
The map was Lost Temple (hears groans) and the teams, both Protoss (more groans followed by people hitting the back button).
Despite your groans im going to continue, because maybe, just maybe some one out there will like this report. And if I can bring
happiness into just 1 little boys life, then it will all be worth it (hears handkerchiefs blowing).
Enough of this space wasting, we both drew the purple protoss and I was placed at the 3 o'clock and my opponent drew the white protoss and was positioned and the 9
o'clock. We both built our first pylon at the 7 supply mark and sent our probes scouting. They were both sent in a clockwise
direction and arrived at each others base at roughly the same time.
We both go single gate and gas at almost identicle times. Before building a zealot however I got a cybernectics core whereas Fish
built an additional pylon and a zealot which was sent to my base straight away. His zealot arrives at my base to find 1 zealot waiting,
the brief scurmish is tipped in my favour as my first goons pops out of my gate, blue smoke is all that remains.
In the meantime I have warped a citadel of adun and Fish has warped a cyber core. I begin a templar archives as Fish builds a Robo
bay. Looks like it templar tech VS reaver tech.
I felt that I needed something to tip the game in my favour early on, so I got bold
and expanded to my natural as soon as Templar Archive was done. I also constructed a Dark Templar. In the meantime Fish has
loaded a shuttle with a reaver and 2 zealots and is heading my way, oh dear!!
My nexus warps in and I maynyard transfer half my probes to my natural, just as a Reaver drops into my main.
The reaver lands and destroys some probes but is driven off bye a dt. The Reaver is loaded into a shuttle and droped on the other side
of my patch and destroys the rest of my probes. But its trail of destruction does not end their though, it is once again loaded into the
shuttle and dropped in my natural. After killing more probes it is again loaded into the shuttle which is swiftly gunned down by my
goon squad.
I was decidedly pissed by this little reaver drop. Vowing revenge I sent what units I had to attack Fish's main (about 5 goons, 5 zealots and 2 dt's). I attempt to charge his ramp but find a reaver and a few goons waiting. Rather than comiting suicide I run my troops past the ramp and attack his natural. A few probes die before his army comes down the ramp and end the life of my precious troups, worse than that one of goons
suffers the most humiliating things possible, being killed by probes.
Determined not to let this get me down I make an attempt to cannon Fish's cliff. Unfortunatly it is spotted by a shuttle returning
to his base after expanding to the bottom right island. Dragoons are droped and the pylon is destroyed but im aware of his expansion, it
will not last long.
Determined to at least get partial revenge for the complete ass whooping I have received to date I load a shuttle with an Archon
and a Dragoon and head for his attempted expansion.
Feeling good after this oh so tiny victory, a bad thing happens. While I was destroying his attempted expansion Fish has decided
to drop to High Templar into my expansion and storm all my lovely little probes.
Things are looking bad right about now but as I always say, when the going gets tough, the tough build one big ass army of goons!
So thats what I did.
Just as I begin some serios macro however a scouting party reveals a bad bad thing, Fish is moving out. His army is big, mine is not as big. Ive just scouted the whole map, neither
of us control any other expansions, the whole game will come down to this almighty battle for the center. Let the battle royal comence!!
Defeat!!! Bitter horrible defeat. However I played to the best of my ability and thats all I can do.
Lessons learned:
Reavers in large battles are awesome, after some well placed psi storms the final battle hung in the balance, his reavers gave him the edge!
Guard both sides of your mineral patch, that early reaver drop would have failed if i had a dt on both sides of my mineral patch.
Macro must be maintaned throughout the whole game, keep the cash in bank below 400. I was guilty of having 1000 in the bank in the
final battle. That cash could have won me the game!!
Congratulations to Fish on a well fought game, he was one step ahead at every turn!
I hope you enjoyed reading this report as much as I enjoyed writing it!!
Please post your feedback in the comments section, I look forward to hearing what you think!!
Bye for now Mr.Furios................
