WARNING: To stop any confusion i know this will cause I want everyone to know that this set of Chronicles is new. It essentially picks up where my last 1-10 chronicles left. I posted a recent work bearing a similar title to this. Disregard that one. It is nothing. With that said I hope you enjoy this one. If you have any questions I will be answer in comments. Dref this has more parts so don't think its a one shot deal.

The Starcraft Chronicles: The Hybrid Wars Episode I

It had been almost five years since the Battle of The Lost Temple. The galaxy seemed to fall into a small era of peace as the leaders of the races formulated plans for the next conflict. Each did not trust the other and no one was free from the ever watching eye of those who were in power. During the peace a new threat was looming over the distant horizon. Neither Zerg nor Protoss or terran could have anticipated the devastation that was to come.

The planet Seeyo, military outpost Beta

The night air of the dusty desert planet filled the lungs of the Dominion troops. They sat back and quietly enjoyed a smoke or drank a beer or two. The day had gone without incident and the free ride of booze, food and shelter kept on rolling. This was an easy post and with the Zerg at bay there was no serious threat to them or their drinking. A lone lookout stared into the dunes and combed for any movement. He drank another beer and heard the distinct sound of nature calling. He checked around and below the tower and decided since no one was around, why leave the tower and compromise the safety of the camp. That and it was a long as climb down the tower. As he watered the desert plants below he notice a strange movement along the sand. A quick spy in his binoculars revealed very little, as the figure was hard to see in the dark shadows of the dunes. If it was an enemy soldier then the commander needed to be informed.

"Commander? Commander? Commander there something out here you should see!"

The commander rolled out of bed with a half hour's sleep and a bad attitude.

"Corporal! You will tell me why it was so imperative that I be wakened from my beauty sleep to the sound of your hound dog voice?"

"There something strange moving through the sand dunes. I can't get a read on it."

Tired and pissed the commander reluctantly looked into his binoculars to what he saw as a huge waste of time. There was nothing out there and he saw no reason to bother with it further.

"Corporal! If you ever bother me like that again I swear, you testicles will become my personal property. Is that clear?"

"Yes sir."

The commander turned and headed back for his tent. Screams from the men behind him spun him around to see several dead marines and one firebat with his arm on the ground. Then for no reason the soldier was split in two. The commander ran, but everywhere he looked his men were being killed by unseen enemy soldiers. He ran back to his tent for a rifle and felt a strange burning sensation in his wrist. He looked down and saw that his hand had been severed from his body. The pain was bad, but didn't last long as the same feeling tore into his abdomen. The commander collapsed in a heap and soon the camp was nothing more than a graveyard.

Dominion Capital Planet Korhal, Imperial War room

The emperor had news of attacks by unknown enemy soldiers coming in from every part of the Dominion. Attacks by militia were common but these attacks were so brutal and vicious that the only suspects could be the Zerg. However no Zerg activity had been found anywhere in the Dominion. No trace of any Zerg anywhere and now what seem like Zerg attacks at every site. Another strange thing was the fact that there were no bodies of Zerg or terrans. Nothing left but blood and an empty base. This was very strange and Mengsk was unsure of what should be done.

"Gentlemen, I must know what we are fighting before I can choose a course of action. Do you or do you not know if these are Zerg attacks?"

"We apologize emperor but we do not know. There is very little evidence to work with and we are not sure the source of these attacks are. There is no evidence if these are Zerg or just a militia."

"A militia? Son I was the head of the most powerful and efficient militia this sector had ever seen. Never in my life have I seen carnage like this, including the Zerg. Either Kerrigan has got some new tricks up her sleeve or we are not dealing with Zerg."

"You have an incoming transmission Emperor Mengsk."

"Put it through."

"Emperor. We have just received word that the outpost at Seeyo has been destroyed. There are no survivors, but we able to salvage a security camera feed before the base was destroyed. Shall I patch it through?"

"Yes patch the feed through."

A central screen rose from the table and a blurred yet visible set of images could be seen. The camera had a view of the entire base and soldiers could be seen running for their lives. Horrific images of soldiers being sliced apart by unseen enemy units was disturbing to say the least as they collection of generals watched as the small marine corps was literally dissected before their eyes. The transmission was abruptly ended and the room was left to comprehend what they had just seen.

"Gentlemen. It is clear that what we just witnessed was not a Zerg attack. By the looks of it I would dare say that it was almost like a Dark Templar raid. But there is no reason for the Dark Templar to attack us without provocation. I am ordering that all outpost and Dominion facilities to be on full alert. No outpost is to be allowed to function without turrets, science vessel support or comsat stations. I won't to know what these things are. If they are Protoss I won't to know why we are under attack. If it is some unknown alien species, I must have intelligence on these creatures."

Mengsk was not the only ruler with these incidents of unprovoked hostilities. Kerrigan too was feeling the wrath of these creatures. She had unsuccessfully tried to expand her territories to new bounds. Every time she planted the seeds for a new colony on a planet, an unknown army destroyed her forces. At first it was believed to be the Protoss. But these attacks were more vicious than any she had encountered against the Protoss. They were sadistic and it reminded her of her own broods. Yet she had not felt any presence to suggest that renegade Zerg caused these attacks. She needed minerals to continue to build and expand her broods and each day her forces became weaker. She needed to find the source of these attacks so that they could be stopped. With that threat eliminated, she would have free reign over the sector. To carryout such a task she called upon the cerebrate Grendal. Grendal was a trusted and faithful cerebrate who had served her well during the Brood Wars. If anyone could dispose of an enemy completely and without mercy it was Grendal.

"Cerebrate, I have a task for you."

"Your wish is my command, my queen. What do you ask of me?"

"As you know a series of raids has halted my conquering of the nearby planet Crim. Your mission is to colonize that planet and to kill any enemy force that tries to invade it. I am giving you every Zerg breed to assist you. I expect you to have that planet solely in Zerg hands without interference."

"It shall be done my queen. The planet Crim shall be added to your empire and no army shall stop your authority over this sector."

"Go then, and do not fail me cerebrate."

Kerrigan was confident that Grendal would succeed. Still it was troubling that her broods were so easily defeated. She was not use to have to be afraid of something. But deep down she was unsure that even the mighty Queen of Blades could remain invincible.

For Kerrigan, learning that you were not invincible was a lesson she still needed to learn. That lesson had been given to the Protoss and they had nearly lost their world because of it. Praetor Artanis had spent the past five years trying to rebuild the once proud world of Aiur. The Protoss had a long road ahead of them and they would need to quickly regain their authority over the sector before Kerrigan had a chance to fully extend her power. They had lost many great warriors through the fighting, both against the Zerg and each other. Among those who were lost was Zeratul, who's fleet had disappeared as they searched for the terran know as Samir Duran. It was feared that Duran and his forces were too great and that Zeratul had been overwhelmed. That was over a year ago and now Artanis felt alone and lost without guidance. He met with the newly formed council that represent the remaining tribes of Protoss. These few created a new Conclave, one without the tyranny and oppression that had been used in the past.

"En taro Fenix. I am pleased to report that the rebuilding of Aiur has been quite successful. The cities are nearly twenty-five percent complete and our armed forces are at half strength. Today I must again bring forth the issue of The Dark Templar. With Aiur in ruins and our military still below half strength, I must ask that the council allow the Dark Templar to return to Aiur and to live once again with us here."

"Again you ask the Artanis and again the council can not allow the Dark Templar to return to Aiur as of this moment. After reconstruction has been completed we can vote on the matter."

"But why must you wait, Tosha? The Dark Templar are valuable allies and they are our brethren. We must be united to overcome the Zerg. Divided we can not win."

"Suppose we do allow the Dark Ones to return. What would that do to the other Protoss. Think of what might happen if they are allowed back. We could end up even more divided then we are now. It is out of the question."

"Why must you be so blind? Can't you see we must be united to be strong?"

"And why can you not see that the coming of the dark Templar will be our downfall? The council has spoken, that is all."

"You do not speak for the rest of the council or for the other Protoss here on Aiur. You will realize that we need the Dark Templar to join with us. Let us hope that the realization does not dawn on you when it is too late."

Artanis left the council and flew to the Lost Temple. It had been here that Zeratual and Raynor had stood with Artanis to battle back the Zerg and Duran. Now, Zeratul was dead and Raynor had been missing for nearly two years. Artanis had many hard decisions placed over his head. But now it seemed that the weight of the world had been placed upon him.

Things would not be very bright for Artanis in the coming days. There was talks of replacing him as praetor and unknown to him, a danger to the Protoss was on the rise. It would be a foe that no one had ever seen and it would strike the Protoss down without fear or hesitation. It would move on and conquer humanity and then engulf the Zerg. At the head of this army is one being, one that would be hailed as a god to those who survived. Surrounded by his demi-god army he would crush the opposition and no living thing would escape his wrath. All hail the new creator. All hail Duran.
