(TYC)Khas'andro's first Battle Report!!

Gosuify...now that's an original name.Yep, just what it looks like: VS.Dorfl is a funky name...
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the main event. The game is StarCraft, the names are Gosuify and D-o-r-f-l (Don't ask me). The map is Rivalry, the underplayed overplayed Lost Temple Subsitute.

If you don't know this map, that's your problem. You'll get an idea of it in the minimap pics.
Gosuify, the aptly named, lands his earthen-colored Terran Command Center at the Southwestern main, while D-o-r-f-l's milk-white Nexus is warped in at the Southeastern. I'll tell you now, if you haven't already guessed: most of the combat takes place at the expansion between Gosu and Dorfl (their names for the duration of this BR).

Both build their respective workers furiously, Gosu until around 8 control, and Dorfl until about 7 control. At this point, both go for a basic strat: Gosu begins to wall himself in with a depot at his choke, and another SCV heads straight for Dorfl's base. I smell a telepathic SCV.

Who does this SCV think he is, Rumplestiltskin? He gonna sleep there for a few years? Nope.
Gosu proceeds to locate Dorfl, with a gracious "HI YO", while Dorfl ups his Psi to about 10, adding a Gateway to his impressive arsenal. Gosu seems fine with the SCV setting up shop in Dorfl's base, but Dorfl isn't so happy. The SCV is promptly chased out of the base, to await more orders.

Even so, Gosu hasn't been doing nothing. He's added a Refinery to cover the repulsive Vespene Geyser pulsating a short distance from his Command Center, and has also begun construction of a Barracks at his choke. Dorfl hasn't been doing nothing, either. While I jot down notes on Gosu's base, Dorfl has added two more pylons, an Assimilator, and another Gateway.

Look out, probe: it's the ultimate Terran fighting force!!
Dorfl sends a timid probe to search out Gosu's base. The probe is met by stiff resistence, however: a menacing SCV stands at the ramp, overlooking his fellow workers. The SCV traps the probe in the minerals at Gosu's natural and proceeds to use its little blue flashy thing to tear the probe into blue explosions.

Ahhh, a wall-in...wait, a wall-in without marines or a Bunker? Strange. I think Gosu ain't so Gosu.
Gosu isn't one to waste time. He's finished his wallin with another Depot at his choke, and has begun construction of a Factory inside his base, before I can even see the tell-tale flashing lights of the Barracks training a marine. Dorfl has taken a turn from his strategy, this time building a Cybernetics Core, another pylon, and a Zealot instead of three more Gateways. Both players are conent to sit back and tech like drunks, Gosu to a Heavy Metal, and Dorfl to what appears to be mass Dragoons.

I deftly note that Dorfl's one Zealot could put an end to many of Gosu's plans as of now. Gosu still hasn't even made a marine, and waits for his first factory to finish, adding another while he waits. As the first Factory is completed, a machine shops begins construction just outside of the Factory.

Dorfl shows that the Protoss have Psionic Balls, as his 3 Dragoons gleam in the hot Jungle sun. A lone zealot sits between the three of them. He sends these to see how well they will do against Gosu's defences, or lack thereof.

Bob the zealot wonders if Dragoons have dicks.

Bob and his friends are beaten back by Mr. Siege. While fleeing, Bob deftly notes that the Dragoon carcass shows no sign of genetalia.
Gosu's first tank pops out just as the three Dragoons and the Zealot are crossing the bridge into his natural. Gosu sieges his tank right behind his wallin, allowing it to bring about a case of Dragoon Stupidity. The Dragoons, confused by the fire, wiggle around on the ramp in some sort of before-death orgy. They finally manage to escape, with great damage but minimal losses.

My reaction on seeing this shows how ignorant I really am.
I now notice Gosu's two Factories, flanked by twin Machine Shops. Yep. Definitely heavy metal. Strangely enough, Gosu begins construction of a Command Center on the ridge above his natural. My reaction? "ummm...yeah" (this went unsaid). Christmas comes early for Dorfl, as he eagerly warps in a Robotics Facility.

Defense update: Gosu defends his base with a wallin, two tanks, and a Vulture. Dorfl continues to use his now 4 or 5 Gateways to pump Dragoons, with the odd Zealot popping out instead. Dorfl sends a powerful probe to his natural and lays the beacons for a Nexus and a Pylon, while two Dragoons watch over the base.

I frantically jot down that Dorfl has brought in a noble Observatory and Citadel of Adun from Aiur, as I speed over to see what's going on outside Gosu's base. A small group of Dragoons are terrorizing Gosu's floating Command Center (remember it?) and a small group of SCVs awaiting the landing of the CC.

Gosu's Command Center pulls back as the Dragoons attack it, but they are soon repulsed by a couple of Gosu's tanks in siege mode. Seems Gosu has lifted off his Barracks, allowing his Tanks through. Gosu easily pushes back Dorfl's attack, while he makes more factories and an engineering bay. Shortly after I notice the engineering bay, two turrets spring up around Gosu's Command Center at his main.

The long awaited main event: Dorfl gets Gosu's natural!!!
And its sequel: Gosu takes it back!!
Well, it's finally happened. Dorfl has come along with enough Dragoons (and the first of his MVP observers: more on that later) to wipe out Gosu's natural expansion. Of course, Gosu isn't just going to LET this happen: just after these Dragoons step out of range, Gosu builds up again.

Gosu adds to his structure army an Armory, which he will never, ever use. Shortly after this comes up, I see that neither side has upgraded any aspect of their units. I wonder if one side could have used this to their advantage and increased their chances of winning a game.

Look at the white box. Is this not a strange place to expand to?? Look at the minimap to the right. See the white box? See where Gosu's main is? This is either the stupidest thing Gosu ever did, or the most intelligent. It's so far away that Gosu will never be able to defend it well enough, but then again, why would Dorfl ever find it, since it's so far away? Interesting question.

Yes, this is it: The dreaded triple forge. That's even the filename.
Now, Dorfl takes a decisive action: He pulls off a triple forge, along with a Robotic Support Bay. The funny thing is, Dorfl would have been better off not building even one Forge, as he never built a cannon during the whole match and only got one upgrade.

Around this time, Dorfl seems to have a strole of Gosu's intelligence. He send a pair of probes up from his main, past the eastern expansion, all the way up to the northest main's natural. One probe builds a Nexus, and the expansion has begun.

Now, time to bring up the nominees for this game's Most Valuable Player. Gosu's force has nominated....no one. Gosu is absolutely sucking at this point in the game. Dorfl is containing him very well, except for his northern natural. Dorfl, however, has his amazing Observers. In almost any minimap picture in this report, you will see a white dot or two at Gosu's natural. In many pictures, you'll see Gosu's tanks being followed by one of Dorfl's observers. Ladies and gentlemen, meet this game's MVP.

Yessir, this MVP is an OBSERVER!! Meet Mr. Bob the Ob(server). He is this game's MVP. He's been everywhere the action's going on, allowing Dorfl to see what Gosu's tanks are doing. Now that halftime is over, it's time for a turnaround.

Whoa, I didn't know Gateways could have babies.
This is what Dorfl's natural looks like now. He's added two more Gatewyas since the last time we saw him. It's obvious that Dorfl is going mass ground troops, and never plans to build a single air unit with weapons.

Right about now, Dorfl makes another push at Gosu's natural, and Gosu beats him back...again. Gosu takes this time to expand, again, to the northwest main. Remember Dorfl's Support Facility from before? Well, unlike his Forges, this structure wasn't for nothing. All of a sudden, I see some flashing on the minimap. I zoom over to Gosu's main, only to see two valiant reaver spreading destruction in every direction Gosu manages to take them out, but at the expense of almost all of his SCV's.

Dorfl sends another force, larger than the last few, to push to Gosu's natural. Even so, it seems 9 or 10 Tanks can take out 10 or so speed Zealots easily. Dorfl's final push to Gosu's main fails.

Gosu is finally able to move his tanks and vultures over toward Dorfl's natural, but halts at the bridge just before and sieges his tanks. Mines are laid across the bridge entrance. A few of Dorfl's units come to investigate, but whooooosh!! they're dead. It's obvious that Gosu wants to grab that expansion for himself, but first, he wants to get rid of Dorfl's presence.

It's about this time that Dorfl's expansion hunters move in. I see two white dots moving toward Gosu's northern expansion. They turn out to be two Dragoons, with an attack upgrade. Not only that, but they are heading for an undefended expansion. Dorfl's expansion killers have claimed their throne.

Yes, this game's second MVP: the Dragoon team.
These wonderful Dragoons prey upon Gosu's first undefended expansion. Then, they move off to Gosu's northwestern main expansion, easily wiping that one out, too. Then, they meet their doom.

Ooooh, near dead Dragoon. Ooooh, dead Dragoon. Moving down to Gosu's eastern expansion, they begin to fire on the helpless Command Center. Finally reaching his limits, Gosu sends his SCVs to attack the Dragoons. These pictures show what remains. Dorfl's expansion killers have been brought down, by the lowly SCVs.

Doomsday has come.
Dark Templar are the bravest units. Imagine if you went up against a Siege Tank armed with a laser sword, wearing nothing more than a cloak?
Gosu has taken the offensive. He sieges his tanks on the bridge of Dorfl's expansion, which begin the demolition of Dorfl's natural. All of a sudden, I hear the familiar sound of a Dark Templar's Warp Blades. Luckily, Gosu already had two comsats, which end the Dark Templar's attacks.

The game's result is obvious from here on. Gosu send his Vultures to search out any remaining expansions of Dorfl while he continues the razing of Dorfl's main. Dorfl, seeing that he can't win, concedes the game.

Ahh, the power of GG.
