I logged onet BNet hoping I could actually find a decent game, (by Bnet standards, this is definded as any game not played on Garden of War and BGH. Yes BGH, War2 has a version too.) and I actually found one. It was a 1v1 on Plains of Snow. In case anyone doesn't know what this map is, here is a screenshot:

I spawned in the lower right hand corner (4:00) as orcs, and my opponent spawned at the one below upper left (10:00) location as humans (he randomed, I didn't know this yet). I go with the standard hall, farm, rax, farm strategy and get some grunts out. I send the first out scouting for my opponent and he finds him as human, at this point I already think I have an easy win. (Bloodlust rules) Of course that was a big mistake. When I get six grunts I get over to my opponents base and check to see if I can achieve a quick kill. He has eight footmen and I have six grunts, but mine are level two and his are only level one, and the battle ends with me victorious having one grunt with 2 HP left. The next footmen out of his barracks killed it.

Now nothing happens for a while in the game as we both tech up. I upgrade to keep in order to get ogres, get ogre mound, more barracks, and begin mass producing ogres. During this about six knights attack me, but my ogres take them out easily. Then I see a flying machine fly around my base, and I remember I don't have an alchemist yet! I put one up and use the zepplin to scout his base, and he is
pumping knights......but I notice one odd thing, four inventors side by side! I've never seen anyone pump hard demo squads before so I don't know what to make of this, I just tech up to castle and get more ogres out, and get bloodlust and the rest of the upgrades. I also get a Temple of the Damned and start making death knights.

I notice he has an expansion at this point, but it is heavily guarded and since I can't take it out without losing most of my army, I simply start two expansions of my own :) I have about thirty level 8 ogres out and I STILL haven't seen an attack from him, the zepplins I have scouting his base also see him building up knights. I'm about ready to just run over there, bloodlust up, and raze his main base. Then I get the
"we are being attacked!" message and I see eight paladins attacking my castle and demo squads hitting it. I still don't know where they came from, but I send my ogres to kill the paladins, but while the ogres are killing the paladins it gives him enough time to run more demo squads in, finish off my castle, he also takes out my temple, blacksmith, lumber mill, ogre mound, and a ton of farms with them. I fly my zepplin
back to my base to see how he got in......that bastard SAPPERED THROUGH THE TREES north of me to get into my base around my ogres and towers. Another control group of knights runs into my base, and this time ignores the ogres and runs right past them. Multiple * DONG * sounds are heard and he exorcises all six of the death knights I managed to produce. I figure I'm screwed at this point, but then I
remember he only has two expansions, one of them undefended, and I have three.

I begin rebuilding my tech structures while I send almost four control groups of ogres at his undefended expansion. I raze it to the ground easily as it has no defenses, then I bloodlust about 18 of my ogres and attack his well defended expansion. About 25 paladins are there to greet me as well as many towers. I figured bloodlust will win this one for me but then 5 or so mages of his show up and he slows every lusted ogre I have. Slow doesn't completely negate bloodlust, so I manage to kill all his paladins and most of his towers, and my last ogre alive sees the gold mine explode, he has mined it out.

Then I get back to rebuilding my stuff, as he must be out of gold at this point. I try to put up another blacksmith and "Not enough oil." DOH! I'm stuck at great hall units. I still have the ability to make level 8 grunts, so I put up six barracks at the same time complements of my three expansions and begin pumping out the grunts. I get three control groups and send them at his main, but he still has a lot of paladins and he fights this off easily. I notice he is also creating another expansion, and he only has 12-15 paladins to defend it. I get 45 grunts out and attack that expansion with a swarm of 45 grunts and two ogres I still had left. He has 18 paladins there now, and I'll raze it easily. Then he pulls out his bag of "annoying mage tricks" (mage one blizzards grunts and runs away, making the grunts run through another blizzard made by mage #2, then mage #3 blizzards and has grunts run at him while the knights get unanswered hits. Then Mage #4 who was invis the whole time blizzards my grunts from behind.) Using this my entire grunt army is summarily slaughtered. Because he now has another expansion I can't kill, and he has knights and mages and I only have grunts, he manages to slowly kill every expansion I have and finish my main. That was the end of it for me.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated, and sorry for making it so long.
