This report is of match between DL'Jay and [GNG]Tadashi, two very good players who, after playing a few games against each other, agreed to let me observe a game. The title of the game was at the request of one of the players whose identity you will discover out if you read the battle report. If you cannot wait that long, skip ahead to the end. Either way, I hope it is an enjoyable read. Now, onto:
![DL`Jay vs. [GNG]Tadashi](http://www.angelfire.com/games/xtravistx/br3/title.jpg)
Map: Lost Temple
Races:
DL`Jay - random - Terran at 3 o'clock
[GNG]Tadashi- random - Protoss at 6 o'clock
Build orders:
DL`Jay used a standard 2 rax setup. He continuously pumped out marines and began building 2 factories to go for a heavy metal vs. protoss game once he discovered [GNG]Tadashi's race.
[GNG]Tadashi started by warping in a pylon, then a forge. He then built a pylon outside his natural and proceeded to warp in 2 cannons and a nexus there, all before he built his first gateway.
Will [GNG]Tadashi's risk of early expanding pay off? Only time will tell. Let's get ready to rumble.
DL`Jay rallied 10 of his marines outside of [GNG]Tadashi's expansion just as his first gateway came online. An scv quickly followed and started an offensive bunkering. DL`Jay's 8 marines probably could have wasted the 2 cannons though, as there was not even 1 zealot there for defense. When his 2 firebats showed up a few seconds later, DL`Jay could have surely attacked. Yet he continuted to wait, opting for tank support against the cannons. After seeing the oncoming threat, [GNG]Tadashi erected two cannons on his cliff for defense. Unfotunately for him, they did no good whatsoever.
The tanks finally arrived and laid waste to the cannons while their vulture escorts mined the area in the wake. This done, the tanks, marines, and firebats quickly demolished the expansion. SCVs quickly constructed bunkers and turrets. All the while, DL`Jay built an enginnering bay to float up the ramp and spot for the tanks. He seemed pretty confident with a powerful tank push well underway, the beginings of an expansion at the 12 o'clock natural (which is odd because on LT, terran cannot have an add-on there), and 2 factories, 2 barracks, and a starport at home.
Despite the wasted expansion, [GNG]Tadashi was not ready to fold. Indeed, he built a citadel of adun, templar archives, and a robotics facility during the fray. Once he had 2 templar with sufficient mana, [GNG]Tadashi had the templar, accompanied by 8 1/0/0 leg-enhanced zealots, charge the seiged ramp. After 2 well-placed storms, he was able to kill off a bunker and all the tanks before another bunker full of firebats (complete with a one man scv repair crew) stopped him dead in his tracks.
[GNG]Tadashi then rebuilt a nexus at has natural. The nexus was promptly destroyed turbo-newbie style by freshly dropped tanks on the nearby cliff. DL`Jay set up another containment force: this time he had more tanks but less marine support. [GNG]Tadashi expanded despite the containment by dropping a probe off at the 9 o'clock main. DL`Jay spotted the new nexus and sent a force of wraiths to destroy it but retreated after seeing an archon, a templar, and an observer. Because of this, he caused only a little damage. DL`Jay made a few feeble attempts to stop this expansion, but ended up letting it go. [GNG]Tadashi continued his expansion by moving to the top right island while DL`Jay took the 12 o'clock main and his natural. Fortunately for [GNG]Tadashi, the island expansion was not found by DL`Jay , who could have easily disposed of it with his wraiths.
[GNG]Tadashi decided that it was again time to break out of containment and sent a force of about 12 3/0/1 zealots, 2 templar, and 2 archons to accomplish the task. He caught DL`Jay with his tanks unsieged and seized the opportunity to annihilate the bunch with his small force and a few well-placed storms. DL`Jay then sent a force of 18 cloaked wraiths and a few science vessels to [GNG]Tadashi's relatively detectionless main. His wraiths met little resistance and were able to attack feely. However, the non-upgraded wraiths were able to cause little damage due to their sheer lack of firepower. Back at his 12 o'clock expansion, DL`Jay was pumping battlecruisers out of his three starports.
[GNG]Tadashi then launched the most effective offensive of the game by sneaking an arbiter into DL`Jay's main. Once there, it recalled a force of 5 dragoons, 10 zealots, 2 templar, an archon, and an observer. DL`Jay had few ground troops to defend with and after taking out the static detection, [GNG]Tadashi was able to totally destroy DL`Jay's main, suffering few losses himself. DL`Jay tried to counter with his wraiths, but a single, well-placed psi storm managed to kill all 18 wraiths. This offensive was the turning point in the game, as now, DL`Jay had little production power for ground troops and was forced to go for air units.
A post game comment on that storm.

Then, DL`Jay tried to sneak an expansion by [GNG]Tadashi at the 6 o'clock natural near DL`Jay's somewhat crippled main. Unfortunately for him, [GNG]Tadashi noticed the building and managed to quickly dispose of it. To counter, DL`Jay sent a force of 7 1/1 battlecruisers and a dropship of repair scv's to [GNG]Tadashi's 9 o'clock base. Though they met resistance from psi storms, archons, dragoons, and cannons, the battlecruisers managed to survive and lay waste to the base. DL`Jay then greedily and foolhardily decided to attack and finish off [GNG]Tadashi's main with his force of about 10 battlecruisers and SCVs when he should have scouted for expansions. The plan failed when a force of 15 dragoons and 5 templar met them at their destination. After several psi storms, the badly injured battlecruisers retreated to the dead 9 o'clock main. In a very wise tactical decision by [GNG]Tadashi, the dragoons followed the bc's home where they were slowly being repaired. The ambush surprised DL`Jay and the dragoons managed to take out most of the battlecruisers.

DL`Jay still had another force of six or so battlecruisers and used them to launch an attack against the newly discovered top left island expansion. Cannons and templar sat in wait and, when they were attacked, damaged the battlecruisers who were quickly finished off by some freshly warped in scouts.
DL`Jay, with few minerals left and seeing much of the map in [GNG]Tadashi's possession, knew he had wasted his opportunities for glory and exchanged gg's with the victor.
As you have probably guessed, it was DL`Jay's idea to name the battle report what it is:
Lessons learned:
1. A tank push should go forward, as it would otherwise be known as a roadblock.
2. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade... (in the end, [GNG]Tadashi was nearly fully upgraded yet DL'Jay had not even researched yamato cannon for his BCs and it is plain to see what came of it)
3. Don't give up. (It seemed the game was surely over once [GNG]Tadashi lost his natural, but kept fighting and eventually triumphed)
4. [GNG]Tadashi's after game advice to DL`Jay for Terran vs. Protoss games:

A recap of the action mini-map style:

I'd like to give special thanks to Ibag for helping with this BR.
