I did my first battle report. It just so happened it was at i2e2's Phoenix Open. This event was live, I got to meet allot of well known players. Like.. Maynard, IN-Agent911, IN-Bob, Maven, TF-Brad and TF-Mass.

The question on everyone's mind was can TF-Brad handle Maynard's awesome micromanagment? Maynard has went through his last 3 opponents in the i2e2 Live Phoenix Open with little struggle. In fact everyone in the room had given up hope for TF-Brad, except TF-Mass and myself.

TF-Brad wasn't even planing on going to the i2e2 Live Phoenix Open. His friend TF-Mass stopped by his house to pick him up. TF-Brad's outlook going into the match was, "If I win cool, if I lose I get $500 and I would have lost to Maynard.. Which is considered one of thee best Starcraft players." There was little stress on TF-Brad.

G a m e B e g i n s :

Maynard begins with a typical Protoss build order, gate, core, gate. Producing 3 zealots then 4 dragoons. TF-Brad had other thoughts. His build order was similar, however he produced 7 zealots instead. He immediately attacked when his 7th zealot was complete. When his zealots arrived at Maynard's choke he was greeted by 3 zealots and 4 dragoons. TF-Brad withdrew his attack, and regrouped his units at his natural.

I looked back and saw the faces of the on lookers to see their confidence locked in on Maynard. I myself was having my doubts, who goes 7 zealots vs a Protoss player?

Maynard sends 3 zealots and 7 dragoons to TF-Brad's base to start the havoc. When Maynard's army arrives they are met with 7 zealots on the ground and 5 dragoons on TF-Brad's cliff. At this point in the game TF-Brad's Citadel of Adun is complete, and Maynard's Robotics Bay has just warped in. Maynard decides to retreat his troops to his choke, and wait for reaver support. Maynard loses 1 zealot, while TF-Brad has lost nothing.

Maynard starts to build his Robotics Support Bay, while TF-Brad has started work on a Templar Achieve.

A shuttle pops out of Maynard's Robotics Bay and soon after his Robotic Support Bay completes. Maynard starts work on a reaver as soon as the Robotics Bay is complete. I was then waiting for Maynard to build an Observatory which is standard in what I refer to as a typical Protoss vs Protoss build order. To my surprise Maynard did not build one. This was the key mistake, that later caused him the game.

Maynard moves his army of 12 dragoons down to TF-Brad's base, where he awaits his reaver to complete. What Maynard did not see was TF-Brad's 2 dark templars which walked right by Maynard's dragoons. This is another key event. If TF-Brad would have let one of his dark templars attack Maynard's dragoons, Maynard would have enough time to block his choke using 2 dragoons on hold. This would have given Maynard enough time to build an Observatory.

Maynard's reaver completes and is immediately loaded in his shuttle and sent to his army of dragoons outside of TF-Brad's base. Later on Maynard told me at this point in the game, he felt the game was over... W R O N G ! ! !

As the reaver shot his first scarab, TF-Brad's 2 dark templars had made their way into Maynard's peon line and started causing havoc!

TF-Brad then used his 2 dark templars at his natural to target the reaver and kill it. TF-Brad sends in 2 more dark templars to help in almost destroying Maynard's large dragoon army. Maynard manages to retreat with 3 dragoons. Both players take some loses, but Maynard no doubt had the highest unit lose in this battle. Maynard lost his entire probe population at his Main. However during the attack he had built a nexus at his expansion and had started building a Observatory. Would Maynard have enough time to complete his Observatory, and if so would he have enough units to hold off TF-Brad's ever growing army of zealots, dragoons and dark templars?

TF-Brad's army makes their way toward Maynard's main base. They then find an observatory at Maynard's natural just warping in. They attack the pylon killing it, which depowers the observatory. However Maynard had started work on another Observatory in his main base.

Taking no risk TF-Brad expands to his natural, where he plans to start work on his economy.

When the observer finally pops out, but Maynard's 4 dragoons are no match for TF-Brad's 2 zealots, 3 dragoons and 6 dark templars.

For those noticing TF-Brad was tagged with [s] at the time of the i2e2 live phoenix open, soon after he left [s] and joined Team Feared. Team Feared is not related to The-Feared. We are basically a large number of members from The-Feared and [NoClan] who got together and formed a competitive Team with better management in our opinion then prior clans. We work as a Team and no 1 member has total control.
