Introduction: The Dark Side of B.net

- It seems that almost every report around here is the same. A 1v1, team game, and just maybe the occasional oddball report that doesn't make any sense at all. Well there's a whole other world out there that isn't being covered. Where is the hackers point of view, the disconnectors, the double teamers, and the most fun of all, the backstabbers? Ok kiddies I'll allow you a view into the darkside, but be warned. . . IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!

- It was a normal day for Joe Palerno as he logged onto battle.net, with his freshly created name. Joe decided that he wanted to get his 10 wins as fast as possible for his new character Tybee, so he found and joined the unassuming game named 7 vs 1 COMP, Easy WIN!. Little did Joe know that he, and 5 other unfortunate souls were about to enter. . . the newbie zone.

- ACT I SCENE I - The Hook

- "Ok is everyone ready?" I said.
- "Rush!??" said {KOL}Tron.
- "Whatever you guys want =)." I said, while secretly laughing to myself.
- "Gogogogogogoogogo" said -Interwar-

- And so without further ado, I started our game. The map, Hunters. The date, 12/03/99. The time, 5:43 P.M.

- ACT I SCENE II - "RUSH"

- I started at the top right position as a Terran commander, and as soon as all the others had allied with me it was obvious the computer was on the middle left. Immediately {KOL}Tron yelled "RUSH", and took all of his probes from the bottom left and started towards the computer. Two others joined in, (Pedro) and Shagadillic who were both zerg. Meanwhile I continued to mine, and build in normal fashion, as did Tybee and -Interwar-.

- The computer was no match for the combined power of the 12 workers, and soon was out of the game.

- "GG" said Tron, followed by everyone else.

- But as everyone was beginning to sit back and wait for the victory screen to show up, I kept mining and building structures. This was my 2nd favorite part. . .

- "Ummm... everyone click on allied vic?" said Shagadillic after a VERY long ten second pause.

- I waited for 2 others to say yes before I did, just so I could blend in with the crowd. I couldn't help but laugh as I saw the 3 worker rushers scramble back to their bases and attempt to begin mining again. However tempting it was, now was not the time to strike.

- ACT II SCENE I - The Salem Witch Trials Revisited

- We may all think we are civilized nowadays, but when your put into a life and death situation. . . It's kill or be killed.

- "Ok if your not 100% sure whether your allied or not, click on the shaking hands! Once you click on those, check in EVERY BOX!" said -Interwar-.

- Just for the heck of it I did click, although I honestly don't know why. Inside the diplomacy box I did have everything checked. Everything except for allied victory of course.

- "Yes everything is checked". I made sure to speak once a few people had already done so, to save face again. Very interestingly however {Pedro} chose not to say anything.

- "Hey Pedro, do you have everything checked in?" asked Shagidillic.

- "Obviously you fu*king idiot, why would I backstab with nothing?" replied Pedro.

- "Dude man, you seem to have teched to lurkers, you might be trying to do something." said -Interwar-

- Oh yes, this is really might be my 2nd favorite part, or maybe my 3rd it is a really hard decision. Honestly is it. Pedro had made a grave mistake in going for a lurker defense and then acting hostily to such a simple question. His candin behavior was going to cost him however. Oh and for those who are keeping track, I had massed up quite a nice marine/medic combo with heavy artillery support from my tanks, and soon enough my 2/2 upgrades would be done, and my vessels would arrive to compliment my army perfectly. Everyone else was still in the basic unit stage, save (Pedro) and -Interwar- to some extent.

- "Everyone we must attack Pedro now before he kills us! No one even has detection!" and -Interwar- was right, I was the only one who was close to having detection.

- "WTF are you talking about!?" exclaimed the doomed (Pedro).

- Even Shagidillic and {KOL}Tron were fast to turn on their former worker rushing ally. Everyone including me stormed the defenseless one hatchery base of (Pedro)s'. His lurkers never did morph quick enough to save him, and their eggs joined the blood-stained wreckage of what once was zerg colony. It was odd in a way that right now my army of humans stood among those zealots and zerglings that I would soon have to kill. Life is ironic in that way. . .

- You can imagine the tension escalation that followed once everyone realized that the game had STILL not ended. Everyone except me that is, who was just as calm and cool as ever. Even though I had a few suprises in store for me also.

- ACT II SCENE II - Palmetto meets Wild Things

- "SHIT" was the only word {KOL}Tron could think of to summarize his current situation. Our old buddy
-Interwar- had ran his zealots and dragoons into Trons base and proceeded to demolish his Protoss brothers weak fortress.

- "Hahahahahaha! Your all dead now!" Shouted
-Interwar-. I couldn't believe it, there was another backstabber in the game with me. The fool obviously didn't realize that he was no match for me, and still he shut off all communications and vision with me, and even though I didn't need to, I shut off vision also with him. Tron and Shagadillic were fast to die to -Interwar-, and soon it was just me, him, and Tybee. Tybee, who was directly to the side of me at the very top middle, hadn't been talking much at all this game either, but I did notice that the only other Terran commander in this game had a nice little defense and army built up himself.

- "Well Interwar, how exactly do you expect to kill us?" I said.

- "You mean, how do we expect to kill YOU?" laughed Tybee. And suddenly the map turned grey, with only my small piece of the world illuminated.

- ACT III SCENE I - The Backstabbers Annual Convention

- Suddenly I realized that I was never the backstabber. I was only a spectator! It was now a 2v1 showdown of the backstabbers on the war torn grounds of Hunters. Tybee and -Interwar- were obviously teamed, but I knew that -Interwar was weaker, so I headed for his base which was right under mine at middle right.

- "Attack him!" yelled -Interwar-, who must have forgotten to put on allied chat.

- ACT III SCENE II - The downfall of -Interwar-

- As I ravaged through his base with my marines and medics, I set up my tanks with a little bunker support back at home. My infantry was enough to take out this pathetic dirt, or so I thought. What you can't see, can rip you in half. Sound familiar? Yes -Interwar- had a pair of dark templar shredding through my marines, and I had forgotten to bring my vessel. Luckily I did have comsat and I scanned his natural where the battle was taking place. The templar were no match for me, and I began the short march towards his main.

- The harmonius sound of tanks sieging filled the air, as my battle with -Interwar- was still within earshot of my base. Approximately 5 tanks were in my vision, but none were in the range of my tanks. Tybee proceeded to tear through my bunkers, and quickly I reconstructed new ones closer to my tanks and relocated my infantry. For now I was safe from him.

- "Forget HIM, Help ME!!!!" Yelled -Interwar- who was clearly on his last leg now. Tybees weak respone was some infantry without medic support. I don't think I lost a single 3/3 marine to his unupgraded ass. Soon enough, the screen lit up with the words -Interwar- defeated. Now it was just me and Tybee, but the tanks at my choke seperated my infantry from my artillery.

- ACT IV SCENE I - The Final Battle

- The stalemate proceeded on, and all I was producing at home were vessels and goliaths. My plan was to defense matrix my tanks, and then run my infantry at his 8 {I comsatted and found 8 tanks with some infantry support} tanks from below while my tanks sieged and blew his away. During all this thinking, I decided to comsat his base, and I also began to build a CC at the south point of my base to float to -Interwar-s old territory. Upon comsatting I saw nothing but 2 barracks, one factory, supply depots, and his scvs mining! Was this pathetic or what?

- After putting on DND to stop the constant spams from -Interwar-, I estimated that I would need about 1 more minute before my vessels were at full energy for matrixing. Then it happened. . .

- "Your dead newbie, hahaha!" said Tybee. I was confused until I saw the laser hit an outer edge supply depot. It didn't take long for the 8 battle cruisers to make short work of my outer edge structures. My heart sunk in my stomach as I comsatted the top left base. A expansion was there with a ton of depots, a CC, and 3 Starports plus a Science Facility all complete with attachments were blinking and ready to pump out more terror.

- The song that plays when you win with Terrans began to play in my head, it gave me a strange confidence. In a split second {because is all I had}, I ran my infantry at his starports. He had no tanks in my way. Back at home I matrixed all my goliaths and waited as the cruisers advanced. I took all my scvs, home base marines, and my 15 goliaths and bum rushed the cruisers. What happened next would make any Terran commander sweat. Lasers crossed paths with missles, marines stimmed and bravely tackled the monstrous ships nearly 1000x times their size. The scvs served their roles too and repaired what little damage the lasers were causing past the matrixed goliaths. Meanwhile the starports and science facility had fallen into rubble, and only one other cruiser had made it out. He was no match for my horde of minituare Schwarznegger, gauss rifles wielding, maniacs with medics healing any small scrath the cruiser could deal.

- Suprisingly I had managed to kill all but 2 Cruisers, and they were very damaged themselves. Now all that seperated me from victory were those damned tanks. I had very little time as even 2 cruisers can demolish a base, and my backup was building very slowly. Thats when my friend made the stupidest possible move ever. I noticed that his front line tanks had unsieged and were probably moving back towards his base. But I was proved wrong as he sent all 8 tanks, and his infantry to attempt to destroy my base. I couldnt save my base obviously, but his was wide open. I ran inside it with my infantry and demolished what little defense he had left. He couldn't catch up with my flying buildings, and I killed his barracks, factory, and CC before they went anywhere.

- "AV?" were Tybees' last words, before I destroyed the rest of his base.

- Conclusion: I'm Still a Man With Morals

- Today I'm a changed man. I've learned my lesson and I will NEVER do what I did today. Next time I backstab I'm doing it with friends.

- Have fun next time you join a game like a 7V1, you just might have me as your ally! Hahahahahaha....
