To complement the report below at http://www.battlereports.com/viewreports.php?reportnum=1107,
I've included another battle report with lots of pictures
and less text (well, relatively, for those of you who
know me...) as a reference.

Temple Shockwave[xpow]
(chosen Protoss, 6 o'clock) versus TTerran.. (chosen Terran, 3 o'clock)
|
Please refer to the other BR or this won't make any sense
:-b. Also, TTerran had a 6-1-0 record so he was no newbie and
I think he did all the "right" things...
Here's me with my offensive assimilator. Note that he's
responding with 2 rax. I scouted with my 6th peon just to
make sure I'd find him early enough. He went 8th->rax and
was smart enough to scout with his marine instead of attacking
his assimilator first. He saw and chased my probe away from
his choke, so I settled for cannoning him below his ledge.
Note his marine attacking my probe on the minimap.

Here I am setting up my initial cannon at his choke (note
minimap). My expansion is next, he has scouted me with his
SCV and did the usual harrassment until I evicted him with
my probes. Plan is going perfect so far. I normally
would have built my first pylon at my natural to use cannons
to cover the natural&main..but I figured, who needs cannons for defense
at all if he's not getting through his choke?

Here is the completed 3-cannon setup. Note that my natural
expansion is running. I started with 2 cannons immediately
when the pylon warped in, added a 3rd once I started my
natural. Since I'm only doing probes/cannons, I have tons
of cash and, yes, the 35/59 supply is COMPLETELY probes.
Who needs fighting units?

Here's him wiping out my cannons, he has a tank and a
scattering of marine/meds. Looks like he teched and
attacked at earliest possibility. Note that my 3rd
expansion is running at 9 o'clock. The green glob on the bottom
at my 3rd expansion is my pylon & warping citadel. I have 2
gates at my main with a 3rd warping in soon. Yes, I now have 43
probes...

Here's the aftermath of his attack, sorry I couldn't take a
screenshot in the heat of battle. He took out my cannons at
my natural, ignored the probes there (wisely) to attack my
main directly...and lost big time. There were 2 vultures, 3
marines, 2 meds, and 2 tanks. I think he lost a couple of
marines because he didn't expect to find cannons at my natural
so the marines got there first (we all know how fast stimmed
marines run). If I had wanted to delay him further, I would
have built an additional pylon/cannons before my natural, or
one at my choke leading to my base, but I figure it's not
really necessary. As long as I 1) stop his early gas, and 2) tech straight to DTs after my 3rd expansion, they'll be done at around the right time it takes for him to siege my first set of cannons, wipe out my natural, and actually get into my base.
Note that I have triple gas, a ton of excess cash now and
easily could have had another several dark templar had I had
enough gateways :-b. There are 3 building DTS in this
screenshot...so you can note my resources and do a little math
to figure out how many DTs I could have had at this point...
See, the cybercore is spinning, so is the forge ;-).

Here's him disconnecting after I take out his next wave of 2
marines, 1 med, and 1 tank that arrived immediately after
his first force (he had probably set the rally point). What
a loser :-).

Here's the final stats. Note the...discrepancy...in
resources. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but notice that
this was a very short 11 minute game (on "FASTER").

Hey, bonus screenshots below :-) !
Here's a couple of random shots of a bunch of reavers
attacking a base in a BGH game. It's totally unrelated, but
it involves another cheap strat where you cannon his front
door and his side at the same time: the pylon at his
choke is just there as a decoy so he's less likely to notice
you cannoning him in from inside his base. I actually got
to his Nexus before he realized what was going on, took over
his base, made 6 robotics facilities, and crawled them to
his new base after I had maxed out supply. Anyway, that
cheap-o strat will come in more detail in my next battle
report submission :-).
Pic 1 is of him charging my reavers with around 24
speed-upped zealots. No, I don't see any zealots either,
sorry I wasn't quick enough to get the screenshot before
they *all* died. If you examine the minimap, you can see
that my original base is at 1 o'clock, his start was at 12
o'clock and that big glob of stuff on the left side of his
base were my early cannons.

And here's my reavers having fun in his base. I turned ALLY
on briefly so I could get them to actually all crawl into
position without demolishing the place in the process.

Umm, I won't show you the battle stats from this game...
