Excalibur_Z: 6:00 red Zerg
QgoldQ: 9:00 white Terran
After observing the game, I asked if it warranted a Battle Report, this being my first; I was told the “name player” couldn’t hurt, and humble players that they are, T_Mac and Mark4 both claimed that the other was the “name.” >:)
Early scouting by T_Mac and Excalibur_Z revealed positions and races of the opposing teams.
Mark4 and T_Mac began with damn near the same build, with ‘Mac warping in a pylon-gateway-gateway-pylon start slightly faster than Mark4. Assimilators went down in quick succession in preparation for reavers and templars from Mark4 and T_Mac, respectively.
Excalibur_Z’s first request for his partner was, “Watch my ass, I’m going 10/9.” A spawning pool morphed in moments after supply was reached, followed by a second hatchery. QgoldQ opted for an early barracks, then depot-gas-depot, an academy, and a bunker at his choke. The first few marines out rallied to his choke, as well.
At about the time QgoldQ’s bunker finished completion, Mark4 and T_Mac coordinated their first attack force, consisting of about five zealots each. Needless to say, things got ugly, fast. Ten malicious zealots were more than enough to overpower the sparse defense; fleeing marines were heard to cry, “Game over man, game over!” Maybe if their commander hadn’t been watching “Aliens” during defense strategy class, they would have lived to see their first boob. Shit happens. From there, it was just a matter of butchering the remaining SCVs; QgoldQ lifted his burning fortress to sanctuary in his partner’s base.
During the chaos, close tabs were kept on main bases: Mark4 warped in a couple more pylons, cybernetics core, forge, and robotics facility (a support bay was later added, along with a second robo). T_Mac, sticking to his pre-planned templars, put down pylon, forge, core, and a citadel of adun (templar archives to follow later).
Excalibur_Z was not idle, either, although the systematic dismantling of his partner’s base had to put a damper on the outlook of the game. A hydralisk den, lair, and sunken colony were morphed, and as many zerglings as he could gather were sent to aid QgoldQ, to no avail. With Excalibur_Z on the defensive, Mark4 and T_Mac took the time to expand to their naturals, T_Mac slightly earlier.
Excalibur_Z also attempted a counter attack on T_Mac during the confusion, but hastily constructed cannons and a few remaining zealots quelled the threat. Both Protoss players warped in a few more cannons around their base and peon line, and defending their expansions.
Like a midget at a urinal, Excalibur_Z was going to have to keep on his toes, now that QgoldQ was essentially out of the game. He was ready for any assault with lurkers, zerglings, and a few straggling hydras.
Well, almost ready.
Near fifteen zealots were camping out at Excalibur_Z’s choke, along with reaver support from Mark4. The initial attack was cut short by razor sharp spines slicing at the ground force; T_Mac’s high templars were just arriving at the scene. A pair of zealots were sent in to draw fire, and the templars went to work, tearing up two lurkers. Whether by luck or good placement, one lurker survived and commenced it’s attack.
Sensing limited defense farther inland, zealots went screaming past the spines like a jolly Hawaiian on hot coals. To his credit, Excalibur_Z wouldn’t go down without a fight, and many a zergling hatched to aid its brethren. Even a pair of white marines were sent into the fray. Alas, with the arrival of two rotund reavers, remaining defenders were put down. GG’s were exchanged, Mark4 and T_Mac claiming victory.
The game was rather one sided from the beginning, but I wanted to post this BR just to get a feel for it; comments welcome.
