Map: Lost Temple (I know, I hate it too)
Races: both me and my partner Protoss
Opponents: Both terran
My partner spawned at top, I spawned at bottom. It wasn't so bad, our opponents spawned at the left and right plateaus respectively. I started with a 3 gate build, then teched up quickly, expanding to my natural. I wasn't paying much attention to my partner, he expanded to his natural and starting massing hydras. I had already scouted out the opponent on the left with a probe (Carlos the probe, he lived a short but useful life), and I decided to test his defense. A force of around 8 zealots ran up his choke only to be met by a few marines, two medics, and a bunker. I managed to kill the marines and the bunker, but reinforcements killed my zealots. So, undaunted, I started dragoons and warped in a few high templar. My ally finally got lurkers, but then the opponents started massing outside his base. Tank push, backed by M&M's. Not good. So the hydras came forth, only to be cut down by the terran forces. Don't line dance! If he had given up the edge of his base and teched to guardians, he could have destroyed it quickly. I sent a token force of around 12 dragoons and 8 zealots to help him, maybe for diversion, but his lurkers had already been slaughtered, so killed a few tanks a lot of marines. Not enough. So the push continued, but the terrans just couldn't seem to win!! They seemed content to just nibble at the outer edges of the base, and never seemed to want to destroy him, thus giving him time to get those guardians.
So I teched up to carriers, expanded again, and so far neither of the opponents knew where I was! At least they didn't give any indication, and nobody attacked my main for the whole game. So much for reconnaissance. After amassing a group of 4 carriers and an observer out of 4 starports, I attacked teal (the left opponent), razing his defenses. After a few wraiths spoiled my parade, I retreated, losing one carrier. However, 4 more popped out, and I continued building carriers and attacking, finally razing the main. however, during the razing, my partner disconnected. Happiness. Down, but not out, I finished the razing and expanded twice more, now vespene hungry. Teal was not dead, and my yellow opponent was still alive and thriving, as far as I knew. So, after amassing 8 carriers and an observer, I attacked the top island containing the last remnants of blue. Around 6 missile towers and a few odd wraiths defended, but they were quickly killed and the razing began. However, during the festivities, a few yellow wraiths sneaked up and killed my observer using comsat. Without detection, my carriers retreated, now down to six. Annoying. However, the continued production from now 6 starports quickly added to their number, and I attacked this time with 2 observers along with the carriers. However, after beating down the goliaths and missile towers, yellow pulled the same trick, this time losing a few wraiths, but again I had to retreat. You'd think I would learn, but no, third time is the charm! Now with 12 carriers and three observers in the clump of carriers to prevent microing, I attacked again, razing teals last gasp and several yellow wraiths. Spying on the parts of yellows base without heavy towers ,I ran my carriers around the top of his base and attacked. Facing little resistance, I began to raze his base. Nuclear launch detected! I checked my carriers hurriedly. No red dot. My middle expansion. No red dot. My....natural. Damn, no templar nearby. Run probes run!
So the nuke falls, toasting some cannons and pylons, followed by another, finishing the nexus and the pylons. Oh happiness, I didn't need it anyway. So I started rebuilding, and found why the ghosts stopped nuking. With two carriers locked down, it wasn't good if they had more. Unfortunately for them, they didn't, and the razing continued. After a chorus of gg, we allied victory after I found yellows expansion in the lower right hand corner.
Lessons learned:
Never leave, even when your partner leaves. If you are good enough, you will probably win!
Always back up carriers with sufficient observers, I lost waaaaaaay more carriers than I should have!
Terran pushers need to destroy the base, not just nibble at the outside. This gave my partner time to try to break it (before he left) with guardians, and then expand. If they had just rushed in and finished it, they could have killed him quickly and tried to deal with me. There was nothing I could have done to stop it.
If your opponent has carriers, use ghosts with lockdown. Even massed goliaths won't take down properly micromanaged carriers (in large enough numbers)
Expand, expand, expand. I had three expansions to my opponents one from the beginning, and he never tried to expand again, even to his natural. This obviously weakened the army they threw at my partner, and the weak defenses were pretty lame. One tower doesn't cut it, I even got in a templar drop on his scv line with a tank sitting by out of siege mode.
I hope u liked the report, my first time out so be gentle!
