Unknown Terrritory

Neither of us know this map. Early scouting will be the order of the day.

I begin with a boring build order. Pylon, Gateway, Gateway, Assimilator.

I send a probe goes scouting to discover just what this map looks like, and to find Orc. Guido the probe goes clockwise around the map, passes a rival, orange probe as he goes, and finds Orc's dastarly gang at 6:00

Orc's base looks almost the same as mine. Twinned gateways, along with a warping assimilator and cybercore.

More imporatantly, I came at his base from the north. I don't know if i can get in from the south, but doing so might give me a minor advantage.

Guido is gunned down by a squad of orange probes. I don't care much about Guido. But he owned my money. No one kills one of my debetors. No one.

Back home, the rival orange probe makes it to my base, but my bouncer, Vinnie the zealot quickly convinces him to be elsewhere. Specifically, six feet under. I give Vinnie a promotion.

I lay down my Cybercore and a Forge. I'm wary of drops in to my worker line, as Necrosausage taught me in our last game. I also want to get ground weapon upgrade. I have a feeling this war's gonna be nasty, brutal and short.

A third gateway goes down, and more of Vinnie's bretheren are warped in, along with a few former friends who're still paying off their debt to me...even thought they're dead.

I send Vinnie out to scout for me. Hopefully he'll do better than that ingrate Guido did. Vinnie and a few pals hits Orcs base from the south, and see an added forge before
they get taken down by Orc's bouncers. Dragoons. I built a Citadel of Adun to attract better bouncers. Orc's gonna pay for messin' with the Kingpin of Nightfall.

Hired Guns

Vinnie didn't didn't see many troops when he went on his scouting run. I tink dat Orc's gonna tech up ta' somethin'
(sorry. Thought I was back in Chicago for a sec there)
Maybe I can kill or cripple him quickly. A squad marches out to mess up his operations.

As they near the small choke before Orc's base, my squad is met by one of Orc's. Apparently Orc has lots of dead friends, 'cause his army's solid Dragoons.

My boys fight hard & well, but are over powered by Orc's walking dead. I quickly hire more muscle back home, and begin building a Templar Archives. Orc's gonna try for a killing blow, and fast. I'll need Italian help to deal with this upstart.

Just as my Templar Archives finishes warping in, Orc's friends show up. My bouncers try, but fail. Damn. I begin negotiating for the services of an elite Italian assassin...name of Nunzio. But he's being stubborn. And I don't have time to waste. Orc's goons are shaking down my probes on gas even as I bargin with Nunzio.

Goon:Mr. OrcManiac is very dissaponted with you...

Finally, with an "Adun Toredas" to seal the bargin, Nunzio agrees to the exorbitant price of 125 minerals and 100 gas. He's got me over a barrel and he knows it.

Once he's hired though, Nunzio more than earns his keep. He drives off Orc's goons, and I begin rebuilding my criminal empire. Those goons burnt a Gateway and a pylon to the ground, killed all my probes in the gas works, and almost tore down the gas works and the cybercore.

I rebuled the lost Gateway, expand my area to the resources North-West of me, and begin hireing more of Nunzio's contemporaries, along with a few zealots. I also begin researching psi-storm.

I send one of Nunzio's buddies out to see what he can see...which is a mass of Orc's goons at the expansion between us. To make matters worse, they've got an observer from Itay with 'em. Damn. Nunzio & his friends are almost useless now. I hastily buy the services or an Italian Fortune Teller, for 50 minerals and 150 gas. This "templar" as he calls himself, informs me that I am doomed to defeat by the forces of OrcManiac.

As punishment for his foolish prediction, I order him to the front lines, and begin negotiating for another fortune teller.

Don OrcManiac

Orc decides that he's had enough of my insolence. His goons (there must be atleast 15 of them) move in on my territory, burning and pillaging. My zealots die under heavy fire, an' Nunnzio and his pals is blown apart by some worm-thing that squeals in some strange oriental language.

My two fortune tellers run screaming, but run smack-dab into each other, and turn in to a huge white ball...good ridence, I say. They never helped me.

I flee my probes away from Orc's enforcers, and run them to my expansion. By now my probes are scared as hell, and despite my orders, beign setting up a wall of cannons and gun emplacemnt...regardless of the fact that Orc's oriental menaces outrange the cannons.
Stupid probes. And most of them owe me money, too!

As Orc's worms begin systimatically removing the cannons, Orc makes me an offer I can't refuse...

Don OrcManiac now rules Nightfall, with Capo Fractal_Wave his dedicated underling.

...for now...

Lessons Learned

#1.) Scout in the right direction =)
#2.) Mo' gateways!
#3.) Only attack if you're sure you will win. My initial attack on Orc failed, and gave him the chance to pump out dragoons to take me out
#4.) I hate Nunzio.
#5.) Scout like a crack fiend before attacking
#6.) Shouldn't have expanded then...the money should have gone to zealots.
#7.) I need to work on my Mafia speech patterns.
#8.) I need to get a decent image editing software...this lack of pix is bugging me lots!

GG OrcManiac. I want a rematch!

All the best,
Fractal_Wave
