Prepare to hear the sordid tale of how a little boy named lemuroo got his dignity shred to pieces by a man named X'Ds~Grrr.

It was a 2 on 2 on lost temple. My teammate was my old pal -hizbeloved-

Facing off was damage, an old pal from the CSL days, and X'Ds~Grrr. (pretty sure that this was GRR because damage was in the same internet cafe as Grrr plays in, he had a 1573 ranking, and he owned)

We played two games, and both were just ridiculous.

In the first game, i was zerg, hiz was terran, damage was toss, and Grrr was zerg.

Grr opens up with a double hatch, securing his choke point. I 8 pool. I arrive seconds too late as his lings pop out, and i only kill 2 drones. And suprisingly, this was the brightest part of the game for ol' lemmy.

Things quickly went downhill. Hiz decided to expand quick, so damage did the same. Unfortunately, early game toss units>early game terran, so we couldn't do squat to oppose damage's expansion. We tried, but got owned.

Grr expanded to his natural, and then his 2 natural. Shnikes. At this point, i was still cranking hard lings and sending them off to die, while damage and Hiz both have only their naturals.

We do a large attack on damage's base, but lurkers mess this up big time. So, we are now low on units.

Grrr, somehow, pulls 12 guards out of his ass and proceeds to own us both. Bah

The second game wasn't too great either.

Lost Temple again. hiz and i were both toss, grr was terran and damage was toss.

Figuring that a double zeal attack on a terran should= ownage, we attack Grr with 5 marines. He has six marines huddled together inside his base complex. We loop around the base, trying to get some scv's. As we enter the base complex, the zealots get swarmed by scv's. The marines start opening up and things don't look too spiffy. The zealots go to work on the scv's, but few die. ????? I don't get this either. 5 zealots should kill quite a few scv's, especially if i'm targetting the zeals to gang up on scv's. But, only 3-4 scv's actually die.

Oh man.

They counter me. Damage sends 5 zeals, Grrr sends marines. They enter my base, we dance around a little bit, and they proceed to own me. Sniff

A counter on Grr's base again does no damage. By now he has bats/marines/medics. so much for zeals.

With me out of the game, hizbeloved places 4 cannons at his choke and proceeds to take his natural. The cannons save his ass repeatedly as Grr and damage tried to move up the ramp a few times. They eventually hang up. Grr brings out a tank and SV. The tank was expected, the SV comes out of nowhere. At this point, its game. We ask to have shared vision. Grr again has his natural and his second natural.
WTF!!!???

Lessons learned
-The rule of thumb in two on two's is to make units, not expand like mad. A double hatching zerg in 2 on 2's is asking for a beatdown. Yet Grrrr takes two expansions relatively early in the game.

-Grrr has spent more money on scv's then i have on probes and zealots combined. How, i do not know. For all intents and purposes, i was making probes nonstop. The nexus might have been idle for a grand total of 1 minute throughout the game. thats enough time for 3 more probes. and when i died, i was near bankrupt, having spent everything on zealots/probes/gateways/ and a cyber core.

-How did that happen? My only guess is when he took his natural. That occured, quite honestly, after he countered our first attack. Which would make it after we had made 5 zealots.

-Grrr had a lot of units, really fast. I did a standard 8 pylon, 10 gateway opening. With a second pylon and a gateway warped in soon after. Once i had 2 zeals i went. Yet, by the time we arrived, Grr had 2 barrack's up, 1 being built, and 8 marines.

-Ok, most of this stuff shouldn't be in the "lessons learned " category, but this does. As a terran, you should feel very secure with only a handful of marines. SCV's are awesome attackers, and great support units. With them, Grrr effectively neutered an attack twice his size while suffering few losses. My guess is that Grr felt very comfortable expanding early, just because he knew his scv's were also alternate units. This allowed him to get the early expansion, and then after it was up, his power just increased exponentially.
