Lifetime Rating for Phiber~Optik: 6.3333 |  | Hello all, this is my first BR, so please don't rag on it too hard.........
I was hanging out in nohunters a couple nights ago, when my phone rang. It was my friend, wanting to play. Feeling a little cocky, I challenged him to a 1v1, well aware that he is quie powerful with the Terrans. The game
commenced.
The Map: Lost Temple
The Players: Phiber~Optik (chosen, protoss)
VS
~Random~-~Task~ (random, terran)
I started out at 6:00 and immediately set to work mining. Predicting a long game, I opted for a stronger economy rather than a quick defense. I scouted quite early on and found that my opponent was terran @ 12:00. He had already walled in his choke with supply depots so I couldn't
get a look at what he was doing inside. Drat, on to plan B.
Since the scouting probe was far away from where is could be helpful to me, I ordered it to attack one of the supply depots! Bob the probe must have taken at least 100hp off that depot before a single marine came to dispatch him. I managed to return Bob to my main unharmed =). Since he was walled in I figured he was spending most of his resources on
his front line D. I had a VERY strong economy at this point,
and I quickly prepared a reaver drop. I hoped he had no turrets. While me reavers were building, I had observers (speed upgraded) building in my other Robotics Facility. My recon was a very important factor in that game..............
By the time my 2 reavers (upgraded) and my shuttle(also upgraded) were done I had observers ALL over the map. I must have had atleast 15 observers, I had one in HIS base!
So, I had excellent recon =). Sure enough, my friend had no
turrets surrounding his base (only a few at the front) so my shuttle waltzed right into his peon line and dropped the reavers. I killed every-one of his scvs, highly damaged his Command Center, blew up 3 depots, and exploded a starport. Using reaver control techniques I was able to keep pounding
on one of his othere starports until he got smart, and set up tanks out of my range, Drat. All was not lost though, for
I was not idle at home. His economy was devastated, and he still didn't have any expansions. The mid-game came into play.
At this point I had 2 expandsions up and running, and I was preparing a huge dragoon+4reaver drop on his main. With my observers I was able to see that he turreted him self in really hard, but still hadn't expanded, even though his main was DRY. The last thing Jim the observer reported was that his CC was floating away. A science vessel floated by and 3 goliaths took Jim's life. Poor Jim. I had 3 gates pumping dragoons, and 2 robos pumping shuttles. When I had a full dozen shuttles I set off. SHIT, turrets! I quickly threw up a Stargate+Fleet Beacon and got 6 corsairs for disruption web. I dwebed his turrets and went in! Alas, my attack was ANNIHILATED as is drop from the shuttles, he had like 14 tanks set up EVERYWHERE, so I only managed to kill 1/2 a dozen supply depots before I died. I did gain extremely valuable recon though-I discovered that he was massing BCs, though he only had 2 at the time. At home I threw up a templar archives, and started massing dragoons and high-templars. I upgraded everything, to be on the safe side. Around this point I took my gimme expansion, which was my third exp. He had only one, his gimme, which was defended by 9 BCs and a couple Sci vessels. I countinued to mass Dragoons and Templars. I was slowly losing recon at he combed the map with his 10 BCs and SVs, and killed my observers. Then it happened. An attack of all out porportions. He assaulted my main.................
I had like 5 cannons gaurding my choke and I got to watch as he razed my exp to the ground, I waited with my troops. He wasted my cannons and headed into my main, laughing at me for not having anything. I STORMED. AND STORMED. AND STORMED AGAIN. I lost 1 single dragoon, while I DECIMATED 10 BCs!!!!!!! Hurray! He was shocked. I, victorious!!. Once again I, came out on top.
Now that he had nothing, I dropped his main again, this time I dewebed everything in site with 8 corsairs. Using corsairs and 2 archons, I took out 5 sieged tanks, 4 bunkers, numerous turrets, and all his supply. Dweb rules.
He had expanded once however, to an island. In a last ditch effort he razed my other expansion. At this point however, I didn't care. I knew I had the game won. When his 12 wraith came to my main, I dodnt even bother to storm them- I had atleast 24 dragoons there. The wraiths popped so fast, I HAD no time to storm. Hehehe. with another drop, I cleaned up his last exp, and I hunted down his last building, a floating Sci facility, with my corsairs. The game was won. I emerged victor.
Lessons learned:
1) Storm can turn BCs into dust
2) Recon won this game, had I not known of his fleet I surely would have lost
3) Economy is key, I was able to stay ahead at all times beacause I had so many exp at the end (5 I think)
Well that's it, I hope you enjoyed. This is my very first BR
so if it suks, I am sorry. I am learning. Oh yeah, BTW I am learning HTML as we speak so next time (or some time in the near future) I will write my BRs in HTML (and with pics, sorry I didnt have any, I was on my toes the whole game so I didn't have time =). Thanks for reading! See ya on Bnet =)
