"Quotation from the Book of Eldritch; 'And the lord spake thusly; 'Thou shalt have a Carrier, and thou shalt destroy many. And in this holy baptism by fire, thou shalt freeth many souls of their unholy bondage to such evil cults as the Aurorans, the Polaris. Then, thou shalt be raised above all, to such heights as thou darest not dream.' And then EldritchEvil, cowering before the lord, spake thusly; 'Indeed, O Lord, I shalt do as thou asks. And many shalt fear my name.' -1:9 Book of Eldritch" -EldritchEvil

| FFA on Blood Bath?! | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 07/15/99 08:07 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | Starcraft(1), Text Only(1) | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 4, Max: 7, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for Dr.Wyrm: 6.2500 | | Bored I sat. My hands lay limp on the keyboard. I sit in the channel to which there is nowhere to run. My silence would appear like apathy or sleepiness to any of that channel's residents, but in my soul burned a desire deeply to play a game.
Games in this channel were already started. My situation would seem rather desperate, indeed, maybe even, hopeless. However, I took a chance. Hitting the tab key several times, until an orange illumination shone forth from the "JOIN" button. This is something I rarely do, finding public games fun, but not challenging, for the most part.
I find myself on the superhighway of B.net games. However, the highway seemed, indeed, drull. The whole scenery was marred with BGH (and its many spawns), Blood Bath (it has spawns too), and, the new Hunters, Lost Temple. Finally after new scenes unfold by the second, I chose a free for all on the map Blood Bath. Figuring that this map would be horrible for an FFA, I decided to join. Maybe this would be a challenge indeed.
I entered the room, and soon I was no longer Dr.Wyrm, but Cerebrate Wyrm, as my mighty hand swung the feeble mouse to the teeming swarms. A man named Protoss(D.A), the creator of this match, chose his role as an Executor, commanding the enigmatic Protoss. From now on, I will refer to him as Dick, for he has deemed it so. The third opponent, Malakai, a gentlemen and strategist, chose to channel his great strength through the power of the Protoss. Finally at the bottom of the board, our fourth opponent, a computer, who I will never underestimate again.
Here are the Statistics Thus Far:
Map: Blood Bath
Players: Protoss(D.A) or Dick(Protoss)
(purple)
Malakai (red protoss)
The Computer (white terran))
Dr.Wyrm (Brown Zerg)
The match began! My build order is that of one that is rarely used in Blood Bath. I decided to 10/9 at the closest mineral expansion, hoping to infest the map with the wrath of the hydra. 10/9 would also get me a fairly quick hatchery in which to spawn a multitude of drones and zerglings. Mainly, I decided to 10/9 because both my opponents build forges first, expecting an early rush from me, perhaps. Upon seeing my drone Dick exclaimed "A DRONE! ROFLMAO! WHO THE HELL SENT A DRONE IN MY BASE!?" I meekly reply "I like to call it scouting"
Indeed, this was the first of many disappointents in this game, for them. I did not rush. Shortly after, started the spawning pool and produced a drone, I started to spawn an overlord and morph an extractor to get gas for the many hydras I planned to morph.
In Blood Bath, the expansions are very close so I need not tell of what I did as far as expanding goes, however, I will tell you that I did expand to both locations on either side of the platform.
At the beginning, I produced many hydras and even purchased the speed upgrade which I knew my hydras needed badly.. Finally, I started attack upgrades after about 20 hydras were in my control and three sunkens sat defending my new home on this wretched space platform.
In the meanwhile, I kept scouting both Dick and Malakai.
Dick revealed almost nothing to me. Cannons at his choke eliminated my zergling before he could see what was going on. However, my poor ling did not die in vain. I saw one thing. A poorly placed arbiter tribunal, fairly early in the game, sat closely to his cannon cluster. I couldn't only expect any one thing. A massive recall perhaps? I hadn't thought of anything else at the time. I just built troops not expecting anything, but I did tech as well.
Cannons at Malakai's choke stopped my lings as well, so I knew there was only one thing to solve my choke point woes. The FURY of the Defiler. Dark Swarm! Indeed, I did tech to dark swarm and to adrenal glands with my lings, with both evo chambers making each one of my troops more and more powerful.
Gas...began to be a problem. I was running out. My ling production had kept the scales almost balanced, but I never had enough gas. My hydra supply was beginning to run short.
Knowing of the skill in which the computer plays, I decided to drop this beast of humanity's creation with 5 overlords bearing many hydra. My attempt at this computers life was quickly dispacted, much to be surprised. The computer lost little and I lost 3 overlord and all the hydras in which they bore. It was a sad day for the swarm, and in the tradition of Heartcutter and YourRoleModel, my soul shivered and I poured a great many ounces of malt liquor upon the bloody carcasses of those dead hydras. The overlords wore black for many a day.
Both Malakai and Dick, as I call him, lay dormant as it would seem. The computer, having lost many SCVs to my drop, lashed out in great anger towards me. I indeed felt the wrath of 8 tanks, 20 or more marines and an odd number of assorted terran infantry and vehicles. My forces were close to decimated, but they fought greatly and with the power givent to them by me, their cerebrate, through my evo chambers, they won the battle.
Hydra production increased through my 6 hatcheries at this point, because I realized that my resources have stockpiled during the vile terrans attack. Shortly after the terran attack, I build my Mound. Gas had piled up and I knew it was time to build these great, but revolting, warriors.
Aggression had not been seen on the human battlefield in a long time and I feared something large lay ahead. I needed more gas, because I knew I would need more defilers. Malakai needed to be dispatched. I loaded up 12 hydras and 5 lords full of cracklings. I proceeded to drop these products of the swarm upon Malakai's main base. This attempt againt failed, due to a massive amount of dragoons and reavers. However this attack was not in vain. I destroyed one of his nexii and I saw the distant swoop on a purple interceptor, the color of the army of Dick.
I soon knew that my fate might be sealed. I quickly swung back to my Main, and research plague, and upped my production of hydras tenfold. 3 Defilers sat in my base with all the energy they could ever need. I decided to test the defense of Dick. I sent my extra cracklings on a raid with one of my defilers. My defiler set up the dark swarm and and lings ran right in, anihilating every cannon at the choke but dying to the fleet of carriers arbiters and corsairs.
Dick said in response to this "You annoy me brown, you will get yours soon!" I respond "haha"
This gave me a chance to get a good look. There was about 12 carriers, 3 corsair, and one Arbiter, a deadly fleet. I pulled back the attack knowing that my war would soon have to be fought.
I hotkeyed three defilers up at my home and then scouted for the carriers position. They appeared to be targeting Malakai, but having neutered Malakai of all his power, he was, indeed, moving on to the swarm.
All I could see were the interceptors pouring in my base and a single arbiter floating above a mass of blurs. I moved the hydras in to engage the visible interceptors to keep Dick micromanaging his carriers. The number one defiler was slaughtered in battle, but the number two flanked the carriers and wretched a deadly poison atop invisible fleet. Now, corrosive goo revealed the carriers. My hydras boiled over the large fleet as another fresh batch of scarlet molassus was flung atop the once great war machine.
The hydras never stopped. As soon as they took the carriers, they thirst for more blood, and as the map name would imply, there would plenty to feast upon.
The hydras then gorged their appetites upon Dick's Base. Dick proceded to call me nasty names as my hydras did a beautiful dance and crushed his clumsily handled templar. As I rolled over him, two DTs from Malakai's base came in and reaked a silent havoc upon the army of Dick.
The match would seem over, when Dick said cya as the "Waiting for Players" sign went up bearing his name. The counter went from 48 to 0 without any previous lagging. Both Malakai and I were indeed disappointed in Dick's behaviour. With my newfound wealth, located in Dick's old base, I proceed to kill the white terran computer and then Malakai. We both left each other with great compliments.
"You are a great player; great in heart, great in spirit, and great in skill" -Dr.Wyrm to Malakai
"There are few players display good sportsmanship like you on b.net. This was a fun game, especially after purple left"
I offered to quit to give this great man a victory but he declined. What an honorable fellow!
The End
PS: The length is bad I know, but I tried to cut it and it didn't seem right if I did. This is my first attempt, so easy does it ;D
PSS: It's also late here and I have written this report well after the battle took place.
PSSS: Can you think of any more excuses why this report is bad? |
