The night was a laggy one with few servers operational and many angry complaining SC players. "Can you hear me?" was heard many times....then I get the message "join nwtr/nwtr"
I find my self in a 2v2 winterconquest game with none other than the mighty [Iceberg]. Our opponents are Sydane and Jinxy.
Jinxy chooses terran the rest of us let random be our race. Turns out Syd and myself draw terran with Ice commanding the horde.
We were positioned poorly. Ice was at 5 - Jinxy at 6 - Syd at 8 and myself at 10. If they were to double team us it would be tough. I start to block my choke with buildings going depot rax refinery. Im always short on gas with terran so I figure I'd stockpile some. An orange SCV comes into my base. Its SYD. DOuble terran I realize.
Once I discovered Syd was terran, I decided that I would nuke rush.
The nuke rush is hardly advisable strategy. 1v1 its damn dangerous. 2v2 its normally I death wish. However I have been working on a semi - nuke rush to see how fast you can get nukes without leaving yourself open. So I go for it.
Ice does a 9 pool and once he sees they are terran starts gas and another hatch at his choke.
Early recon reveals Syd is tank rushing so I order an all out rush on Syd. I figure my 4 marines with ice's lings should do some damage since syd has only 3 rines at this point. Ice asks with what should he rush. Looking at his base I realize he has skipped production of lings to boost his economy. Oh well at least he isnt nuke rushing....
- SOME ACTION -
Things are going nicely. I have a nice wall in and seige tanks. My fist ghost is making and im adding my nuclear add on to my CC.
To be a good ally I ship Ice a tank to protect his ledge. All seems to be good in this winter wonderland.
I get the under attack warning. Uh oh. My point man at the entrance to my choke was mowed down by many medarines. Not too worried I put my tank in a good spot and siege up. I have another tank coming soon so medarines dont worry me.
They get to my ramp under heavy fire and stim and run up. Many rines are gunned down and thats when i see the true plan. Syd has about 5-6 tanks. YIKES. Soon my defense is shredded. Ice is coming with lurkers and hydra and lings to save his moronic partner but syd has too much and wisely has constructed a turret by his tanks for anti - air and detection. When the dust settles syd has 3 tanks blasting my base to bits.
Thinking its over I curse and think about how I needed more tanks and a bunker. However I do have a CC floating to the mid island so I load up as many SVCS as i can in my drop ship and prepare to evaccuate my base.
Ice meanwhile has started a base in the middle and also has taken his natural.
I realize my ghost has survived but unforutanely my silo is about to die. Thats when I had a bright idea. Nuke the OL in my base. The splash will kill his tanks and he wont see the dot cause its under the lord.

Works like a charm. 3 tanks go boom. Ice has lurkers now containing them somewhat and I rebuild my defense. Many buildings were in the red but Larry Harry and Frank did a good job bringing things back to yellow.
Unfortunaely for me I nuked many of my own depots so it took me a while to get things back up.
Thats when we realize Syd has expanded to 12. I tell Ice to take it down...but he has been teching and building so cannot. Since he has sent so many troops to help me including sacrificing an OL I decide to forgive him.
Nukes build fast and once my depots are restored i build one for Syd's expo and start a second silo at my expansion.
I drop in precloaked and look for anything that will kill my ghost. My only fear is SCVs so I let it go.

Ice lines up his lings. I open the door and lings rush in. Expo gone.
Things are really looking good now. My island is up and so is Ice's middle. They have no expansions other than their natural mineral only.
However the key with Winter is not who gets the middle first but who can HOLD it.

I hear a lot of tanks firing and knowing they arent mine I look at the middle and see a LOT of tanks and M&M sieging Ice's island. This looks bad.
My wraith army totals 4 at this point. The only thing I have to help is a nuke. I walk my ghost over to look. Unfortunately he has a Sci vessle there. DAMNIT. So the question does a sci vessel detection outrange ghost vision was about to be answered......
Until he moved his vessel away. DAMNIT. Any place I nuked would be easily seen. Dual terrans have a lot of scans....
With the game in the balance I curse my stupid nuke rushing ways and wish I had more tanks.
Then I realize...I have a dropship. I move it as close as possible to the army but over the island so its out of range of the marines. I then nuke my own dropship.
Feeling like Johnny_vegas I pat myself on the back and say to Ice "I own". Finally all the nuke theory was paying off. I killed MANY medarines with a single unseen nuke. After the game Jinxy said he was shocked. He had looked "Hard" for the dot right near where it landed. Muhahaha
Syd attempts a drop on the island but Ice has many sunkens which end the threat quickly.
At this point i realize I have another nuke ready and my ghost has 40 energy left. Moving in I see an enemy dropship near 3 tanks and around 5 marines. Not seeing the dot again I land my 4th successful nuke.
About this time I am wondering WTF Ice has been doing and see he has been making guards. A Iceberg staple he sends in guards and many crack-lings to Syds base.

Lessons Learned.
1 tank can't stop 5 regardless of high ground and OL sighting when there is 12 rines charging your ramp drawing your tanks fire.
Nuke rushing is fun but so far I havent found it to be successful except in 1v1 terran games.
Take pictures during your games in case it gets interesting.
Most importantly, nuking anything in the air is the best nuke option. If you're getting nuked I reccomend moving all flying things right after you've checked your peon line.
