Korin walked out of the Barracks and looked around. There was snow on the ground and peasants running back and forth chopping down trees or mining gold. Some would break off and start building buildings. Korin stood knee deep in the snow watching this scenery of chaos swirl around him. After awhile another footman like Korin joined him in the snow.
They chatted until another person joined them. Out of the Barracks a Dwarf with a Blunderbuss trudged towards him. Korin smiled and the dwarf said to him," Now don’t you get any ideas about tossing me, or else ill have to fill you with hot lead." Korin laughed and slapped his knees. This laugh was cut short when some zombies came running down the hill towards them.
The dwarf fired at them while Korin and his buddy hacked them. One Zombie landed a punch on Korin and flung him into the snow. Korin struggled up and tried to regain his breath. Meanwhile his friend and the dwarf mopped up the rest of the Zombies. Korin stumbled over to the barracks and sat against the wall slowly massaging what he thought was a broken rib. What he saw then frightened him more than the zombies did. Korin hadn't looked up allot but as he sat against the barracks he saw a disembodied hand controlling people like puppets....
Korin woke up the next morning covered in snow; his two comrades, the dwarf and the other footman were beside him. Slowly lifting the visor of his helmet, Korin surveyed the scene around him. Allot had changed before he fainted. There were more farms and some other weird buildings built too. Also, there was some guy with a huge Hammer in one hand and a book in another. "I guess you can’t go wrong with that combination," Korin muttered under his breath. He got up and dusted himself off. All of a sudden Korin shivered. Funny, he thought, I didn't notice the cold before. He felt something come off his back and he turned to see what it was and to his horror, the hand had touched him! Korin turned to run, he didn't want to become a puppet like the others. But much to his dismay he found his feet firmly stuck to the ground. He saw the hand head towards his friends so he tried to yell out to them, but he couldn't even do that. Inwardly Korin tied to do anything to get him out of the hand's power, he even tried mathematics. He had gotten as far as X=((8*3)-((567/9)+1) where X=-38 until he was stumped so he tried to move.
And he did, but not in the way he wanted. Korin turned around and headed to the gathering around the Hammer Man, and his head was filled with thoughts of glory and how fun it was to fight. After all of the men had arrived, which consisted of Korin, his friends, and about 5 more footmen and 3 more riflemen, the group headed off to the northwest and quickly cut to the Northeast. They continued along a winding path until the met some foul smelling black ground. Korin didn’t care his mind was filled with fun thoughts of killing, maiming, destroying, slaughtering, pillaging, carving, blasting, and ripping things to tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny bits. All of a sudden he saw atop a hill allots of ghouls there had to be at least 10 of them.
The Ghouls were attacking trees around this funny building that Krorin got the funny idea that he had to destroy it. The Ghouls stopped their lumbering expedition and turned, and much to the inner-Korin's terror, charged at them. The footmen charged at the ghouls while the riflemen fired over their heads. Korin was in the lead of the mob; he struck the first hit. And so did all of the Ghouls on Korin. Korin was wounded beyond belief, but he couldn’t stop fighting, all of a sudden a strange golden light enveloped him. Inwardly he screamed out, "HELP! ALIENS ARE TRYING TO ABDUCT ME!!!," but the funniest thing happened to him, he felt good, almost rejuvenated, as if he was better. They dealt with the ghouls with minimal losses, one footman, not Korin's friend but then again they all looked alike, had charged at the ghouls and tripped and fell upon his own sword. They all surrounded the big building and started hitting it with their swords. Korin would have asked why they were trying to cut down a building with some small swords, but he didn't care, he was having fun.
After a long while, the building exploded and showered everybody in sparks. Korin, the Hammer Man, and the rest of the group ran back to camp. After arriving they found out that some other army had attacked but the defenses had repulsed them. All of a sudden Korin was released from the grip of the hand. He fell to his knees and promptly vomited. Looking up for any sign of the hand Korin ran to the nearest building and collapsed and curled up and started whimpering. His comrades on the other hand were unaffected and didn't witness Korin rolling in the snow near the Woodmill. Korin laid there, in a ball, muttering incoherently to himself.
And slowly but surely fell asleep.
The next morning Korin woke up. He looked on his chest and his eyes bugged out at what he saw! He found a dead squirrel on his chest. Throwing the thing as far into the woods as he could Korin got up, and searched the sky. Sure enough he saw the hand floating in the air. Korin decided he was gonna run for it. He sneaked around the Woodmill towards an open path guarded by only a few towers. He slowly walked towards the path watching the sky for any signs of the hand. He didn't notice the congregation until he was right on top of them. The entire former attack group was there and then some. Krorin realized what it meant; another battle. He quickly turned around and saw the hand coming for him. Korin was scared and didn’t know what to do, so he pulled out his sword and struck the hand when it came close.
The hand backed off and Krorin yelled to the group, "Run for your lives or else it will get you too!" there was no response. Krorin struck the hand again and this time the hand went away. He slowly turned around and saw that none of his friends had moved. They all sat there staring in different directions. Korin then saw green circles surrounding each person. He was about to say something when behind the group came the hand. Seeing this Korin readied his sword, but instead of coming at him the hand just hovered there. All of a sudden his friends eyes flashed red and they all moaned "KILL!" at the same time! "Oh sh*@!" Korin yelled and promptly dashed away from the path towards the woods. His friends charged after him. Korin saw the woods coming up and decided he would hide behind the rocks in the woods. He almost made it when he hit what he figured was a wall of force.
Korin got up and tried to shove his hand beyond the trees but he couldn’t. He looked back and saw his comrades in the distance charging at him. Korin, now quite confused decided to go to where the peasants had already chopped them down. He ran amongst the farms and came upon the opening in the trees in which he stubbed his foot on a stump. Cursing under his breath he dashed for the gap that led to a rocky outcropping. Once again he meet the invisible wall. "WHAT THE H*@% GIVES!?" Korin screamed out while kicking the wall. Just about then Korin heard a clamor come from behind him, his companions had caught up! Korin turned and saw the group charging in on him, "No! Wait! Don't do this! I'm your frie...YEAAAAAAGH!!!!" the first footman ran Korin through while a second one hacked at his arm. Korin was near death and watched his life-blood gush from the grievous wounds his friends had inflicted, when out of nowhere the Hammer man did his little healy thingy and Korin felt better and got up. And was promptly attacked by his friends who by this time they were laughing. Again the Hammer man healed him but he realized the Hammer man wasn't trying to help him, he just wanted to prolong his suffering. Finally Korin's vision grew blurry and everything sounded as if he was listening from a distance and it no longer hurt. All of a sudden the world went BLACK!
Korin walked out of the Barracks and looked around. There was a faintly familiar scene of peasants running back and forth chopping down trees or mining gold. Some would break off and start buildings. Korin stood knee deep in the snow and felt a faint urge to check out the area the peasants were clearing of trees. When he got there he saw a group of men standing around the bloody body of another man who for some reason seem kinda familiar. Korin put this down to being new and decided to join the group of men standing mindlessly in the snow.
