OPERATION
: DUSTBOWL
It's been
about half a year since I have posted a report on this site.
From the beginning it was hard for me to start with my crappy
computer and a game almost no-one has heard of but now I'm back
and with a first of its kind Battle Report: Command & Conquer:
Generals. I will take some of the tricks used in CHJ's AOM BR
and try and use them for this report.
You probably heard
of it but just in case let me spill the beans on what generals
is all about. Somewhere around 20 years in the future China and
America are fighting the Terrorist state known as the GLA - Global
Liberation Army - that is based in (you guessed it), Kazakhstan
(you guessed wrong). With Blizzard & Ensemble creating games
like Warcraft 3 & AOM, Westwood gave EA the right to make
Generals in its own name. It was created before the Sept. 11
attack for all of you who don't know. It is the first C&C
title to be played in a truly 3d type of way.
And this small
introduction to Command & Conquer: Generals has brought me
to the Battle Report.NOTE: The pictures in the Battle Report
might be a little big because of me 1. trying to show off the
graphics of this game 2. fucking up with Photoshop trying to
convert .bmps to .jpg format. as a quick note I have gotten a
very good computer so the pictures in this report will look much
better than in my previous reports… I hope.
So here it goes:
General Some_God
Side: American
Color: Blue
Entry onto Battle Field: Northern Position
General Youll-Suk-Mi-Dik AKA Playa
Side: GLA
Color: Orange
Entry onto Battle Field: Southern Position
Battlefield:
Somewhere in Iraq…
Good Morning General.
Yesterday we have received images from spy satellites, which
show major GLA activity in Iraq the past few days. General Some_God
you are assigned with containing this dire threat to the government
of Free Iraq. If you contain this threat you will receive a great
reward that no other general has ever gotten: a cookie.
Some_God
comes in on the north side of the map and uses his bulldozer,
which is beside his Command Center to build a Cold Fusion Reactor,
which like in other C&C games, powers your base. While the
bulldozer does that, SG builds another bulldozer so he can build
his base up quickly before Playa can attack him. When the bulldozer
is done SG tells it to start on a Barracks so he can crank out
GI's, while his newly built bulldozer builds a supply center,
which as you guessed collects supplies. When you build a supply
center a Chinook helicopter comes with it, which automatically
goes to collect the supplies. SG builds up 3 GI's & 2 Rocket
Infantry men, who are strong against vehicles, and starts building
a War Factory, which produces Tanks and such. Another bulldozer
builds a Patriot Missile battery, which can defend attacks from
land and air.
When SG's War Factory
is complete he builds a Paladin Tank for defense & a Humvee
to scout the nearby terrain for any enemy units. As the humvee
goes along the main road that always leads to the enemy's base
(it's a 2 player map and you always know where he is) it is spotted
by a Technical, which is the GLA's version of the humvee. The
technical starts attacking and the two vehicles start battling
it out. Ultimately the Humvee wins the battle but Reinforcements
from Playa's base come to help out the already destroyed technical.
The humvee tries to escape but the tanks get some shots off on
it and destroy it. The scorpion tanks then try and break through
the formidable defense but don't manage to go far as they are
quickly crushed but the GI's and Tanks. SG thought that battle
was over but it wasn't as a Toxin Tractor (which kills infantry
really fast) and another tank came. The tractor got a lucky shot
and whipped out at least 5 GI's before it was blown to pieces,
and the same with the tank. By the way the light, light Green
water on the ground is the toxic stuff the tractor shoots.
Playa was determined
to have SG on his toes so he kept pouring in the troops, but
when things quieted down SG built another Humvee to scout. It
didn't go far until it saw the next wave of attackers. This time,
though, the humvee wasn't destroyed. A fierce battle occurred
and it almost looked like Playa would win but the factory and
barracks were right there and that won SG that battle but he
knew that he couldn't handle any more of these "wave"
attacks for long. He built a second War Factory to help himself
out. There were about 5 small-scale attacks made but none of
them succeeded, but after the attacks SG built an Airport so
he could build Attack Helicopters, Fighters, and Bombers.
SG cranked out
a Comanche, an F-16, and started the upgrade for Rocket Barrage,
which gives the Comanche about 10 missiles to shoot at one time
(it's awe inspiring). While there was peace and quiet SG also
built drones for my tanks, which had a machine gun to deter infantry.
Then suddenly over the horizon SGs' troops spot 4 tanks and an
AA truck (anti-air truck). It shoots first and takes out a drone
but then SG backlashes and releases all the force his military
has. An F-16 destroyed a tank that came to close while a Comanche
released its devastating rocket barrage. The enemy convoy was
quickly whipped out.
Then over SG's
base a C-47 transport plane roared overhead as it was making
its way to Playa's base. The C-47 was doing well until it reached
the place I like to call The Sigrid Line in the middle of the
map where there is a choke point. It is a heavily defended point
SG didn't know about, littered with Anti-Air Defenses and bunkers.
The C-47 dropped its troops who all died, and the C-47 itself
was blown to pieces. SG was upgraded to a 4 star general and
picked the A-10 air attack as his special ability. You can pick
what you want as an upgrade when you get upgraded to a better
general. For example if you become a 3 star general you can pick
and upgrade to build the Paladin Tank. You can be upgraded to
a better general by having more experience (fight in a lot of
battles).
You see those 4
vehicles in the picture above? They killed the 5 paratroopers
that landed on the Sigrid Line and now were heading straight toward SG's base. Now that SG's
force was built up the "wave" attacks stood no chance.
I will put the anonymous battles at the end of this report so
the pictures don't take up too much space in the body. Playa
had to change his strategy soon before it was too late. By now
SG had build 2 mobile Tomahawk Missile Launchers, which launch
Tomahawk Missiles (duh). By now about 4 anonymous attacks were
launched by Playa but did little harm to SG's tanks, helicopters,
and humvees. SG being the desert fox that he was scouted the
terrain for any possible ways that he might get into Playa's
base without loosing too much troops to the Sigrid line, which
would cripple him because SG never looks over his resource gatherers.
SG finds a weak position with only 1 bunker and 1 AA position,
and mobilizes his troops for what might be a very fierce pitched
battle. He gathers his 4 helicopters almost all his tanks and
humvees and moves them to the staging area directly east (west
to you on the map). Some of the units are veterans indicated
by the stripes on the top right corner. Units can earn experience
strips depending on how many battles they fought and the more
experience they have then they get better weapon, loading time,
Hp, etc.
There is always
a calm before the storm and this battle will be no exception.
As the troops get up from their quick naps they find 2 A-10 warthogs
roaring overhead as they begin the first strike on the area SG's
troops are going to go. They soften up the defenses better than
anyone has ever imagined. They almost completely had taken out
a bunker that would have been a pain in the ass to destroy by
land. Next 4 Comanches over flew the troops and unleashed their
devastating Rocket Barrage on the AA batter and the almost destroyed
bunker. They had destroyed most of the opposition that might
have come from that sector of Playa's defense. Meanwhile Playa
had pissed his pants while seeing how his intelligence on the
enemies troop movements was failing. Playa had an idea though,
if al; the troops are going to attack me from the side soon that
means there is no one to guard his base. Playa launched a quick
attack against SG's base but if failed miserable because SG didn't
take all his troops with him to attack. He left behind a couple
of tanks and 2 F-16 fighters to defend the homeland plus 2 Tomahawk
Missile Launchers.
Now SG delighted
with the way his Air Campaign has went decided it was time to
start he ground offensive. The troops at the staging area prayed
a little just in case. Another C-47 transport planes was heard
as it was going to deliver 5 rangers to the forest outside Playa's base on the opposite direction
of where the attack was coming from to provide some distraction.
Meanwhile SG's Comanches were a little too cocky and thought
there was victory and went into the middle of Playa's base and
2 were shot down. One was a veteran so whenever an airplane of
helicopter is a veteran the pilot ejects so you could put him
in another vehicle and make that vehicle have the pilots veteran
points. Anyway back to the action. So the pilot ejected and tried
to hide but a Technical (a pickup with a gun mounted on the back)
found him and was racing to kill him. As the pilot was running
in front of him what was left of the defense on the side of the
base exploded as SG's ground forces executed a perfect Right
Hook. Sadly the pilot was run over by the technical before it
could get rescued. The technical got rewarded with 5 tons of
lead, steal, and High Explosive shells stuck right up its ass.
Now SG was fighting on his own terms.
He quickly charged into the base taking out any rebels (GLA foot
soldier), bunker, and AA site that were seen. The buildings were
next as the Palace and Supply Stash was destroyed. The whole
inside of the base was wiped out in less then 3 minutes. The
rangers that parachuted into the forest took center stage as
they assaulted a bunker and AA battery. They were not alone though;
the 2 remaining Comanches helped the GI's out followed by the
whole army SG committed to this battle. As far as Playa was concerned
he was KIA. The last obstacle facing the almost victories army
was the Sigrid Line. SG didn't hold back anything this time.
He sent out his 2 F-16 and Hornet Bomber (supersonic bomber)
to bomb the shit out of 1 AA battery while another got stuffed
with Tomahawk Missiles. SG's army took out the rest. GG.
I think this was
just a little introduction of how C&C plays, feels, and looks.
Trust me if your eyes are coming out of their sockets at the
sight of these pictures your not alone. If you guys want more
Battle Reports on C&C Generals please tell me because I got
nothing to do this whole week. I didn't really go in depth on every single unit and structure in this report but I can go in depth about C&C
Generals in another report if you guys want. Anyway here are the pictures
of the anonymous battles:
I would like to thank ... myself...
for doing this report = )
