Wow, thats unique.
Anyhoo, it was decided that i should be put up for public ridicule by having not one, but two observers in this game.
We both randied, i got toss, ahs got zerg.
Hmm, so i do a normal 8 pylon, 11 gate build when his olord scouts me. D'oh. kinda early. Oh wells. From 6 o'clock his olord came and sniffed around my 9 o'clock base. Dum de doo.
So, i sent out a lil' probe do so some recon.
Hmm, "interesting" thought the probe. No second hatch at the main.
"Hmm, interesting" thought the probe again, as there was no second hatch at the choke.
"Ah, $%#%@##" thought the probe as he say a completed pool and 3 eggs.
The lings popped, and the brave probe sacrificed its life to buy the protoss camp valuable seconds. A second sacrificial probe was sent out, this time managing to convince three lings to go on a wild goose chase. At home, the first zeal was produced, followed by another, and the rush was rendered ineffective.
Time progressed. At the toss camp, the wily commander, without any recon whatsoever, decided that it would be land he must defend against. So the forge was ordered to begin a weapons upgrade. "Bah, who needs recon" snorted the toss commander, as a third gateway went up.
Soon, the zeals had leg enhancements to, and with the upgrade, they went off to fight the evil zerg.
In another display of strategic genius, the toss commander lays down a robotics facility so that he may combat hydras.
Ahscar's devious plan to build land forces had been seen through all because of the wily probes initial reconissaince.
The zealots broke through the choke, guarded by a few lings and a sunken.
"Hmmm" thought the zealot. "not a lot of lings for someone going hard land"
Uh oh.
Cannons were hastily put up at the main as the commander's attention went back to the combat.
Three seconds later
"Our base is under attack"
@#@#$%!!! 4 mutas were pounding away at the cannons still warping in.
Grrr, the zealots extract their revenge by destroying the spire, but are quickly taken down by the lings and mutas.
5 more zealots enter the base, taking down the pool, but alas, it is too late. The toss base is out o' cash, and the zeals can't last forever.
Sigh.
Lessons learned:
Toss zerg matchup is weird. A toss has to guess between his enemy going either air or land, and must counter that appropriately. The land counter (reavers) won't help diddley squat against air, and the air counter (temps) cannot hold early on against a sustained land attack. Add to this the fact that recon is impossible after the first 3 minutes of the game until observers. . .
A zerg however, can either go hard air or hard land, and be able to deal either way.
A toss could build goons to counter both, however, goons are evil and shall not be built.
Battlereports end up being really weird if you stop writing half way through, and then continue later on.
I wonder if anyone will catch the point where i stopped writing to eat dinner, and then came back. Looking back, there seems to be a rather dramatic shift in writing style. Oh well. That happens when your schizoid.
