Chapter 7: The zerg strike back

The terran army stood victorious over the zerg outer defense. Zed the Cerebrate had been anihalated. "Have them camp in the valley and set up a command center for those resources. Zerg are heading to you, so I sent reinforcements over there, with some more wraiths." said Crat to the Battlecruiser commander "Yes sir" replied the commander

Trevor and Jeremy were both on nightshift in a missleturret. They watched the Space Construction Vehicles bring minerals to the command center. Far in the distance they could definately make out some aircraft of some sort. Black figures that blocked the moon. The camp was quiet. You could even hear the SCVs gathering the rich minerals. Jeremy walked over to a spotlight and searched the camp for zergs. He could have sworn he saw a zergling just a second ago, but it disappeared!

"Must be getting late" he thought"

He finished his look on the ground, and he looked into the sky. Another spotlight was looking up there also. Suddenly, all lights in the camp turned blinking red and alerted the sleeping soldiers. Jeremy frantically checked the sky but saw nothing, until he looked at the west side of the base. Very clearly, he saw all kinds of zergs coming. Zerglings hopped over the mountain and came speeding down toward everyone. Jeremy started shooting at what he could. The defence guns went off, and marines came out of the tents. The fearsome guardians moved in and started melting buildings. The wraith fighters were then sent off, but the devour ate them whole. Infested humans started sabotaging bunkers and the marines in them.

It was three in the morning. Jeremy had used all his ammo, and Trevor was down in the chaos below. The zergs got to the inner defences where all the tents were. Many people got trapped in their tents and eaten. Trevor was in one of the bunkers. An ultralisk trampled it, but he wasn't dead, just unconscious. The missle turret that Jeremy was in collapsed. He fell into the basement, also alive and unconscious. The zergs pretty much screwed the Terrans because half of the tents were trampled as well as the marines inside. The great battlecruiser itself had been smashed by scourge, and fell right onto the command center.

It was early morning. A faint light peered through the mountains. The sun was coming up. On the horizon, something was coming. With the rays of the sun, the reinforcements that Crat sent were coming. Hundreds of wraiths, a few battlecruisers, thousands of infantry, and dozens of siege tanks were heading up the slope of the mountain. The zergs were taken by surprise and slaughtered with barely any casulaty for the terrans. A few protoss also showed up.

Jeremy, Trevor, and the other survivors were brought into sickbay. Jeremy had a nasty cut on his forhead, while Trevor had burns on his arm. The medicine of that day, however, cured them very quickly, and they were up and running in a few days.

The base was once again rebuilt. A special science vessel did irridate, which destroyed a huge mass of zerg air units that were still present. The terran were okay, but for how long?

Chapter 8: Dangerous travelling

Brian, Jake, David, and Alan were still in the deep tunnels of the volcano. They scrambled out after moving for a few days. The company was below the cliffs of the volcano, where it was flat land. The rocks crumbled as the marines stepped on them. Thin magma rivers ran all around, and very deep. Large rock structures served as jets for lava. The place would be dangerous in an eruption.

Far in the distance they could see a thin forest, where they were told to go. There, they would enter outpost 39, one of the furthest terran encampments out. They reached the forest. It was damp and murky.

It was very quiet and dark, and the soldiers could see red eyes watching their every move. They pulled out their guns, ready for an attack. They kept walking, and then David tripped on a root. At that moment, the red eyes jumped out. They were actually zerglings waiting for a meal. The party was outnumbered 5 to 1. Alan got seperated in the zergling patch and took his knife out and flailed around. The zerglings got blinded from Alan's knife, but they smelled him and killed him. Just then a few marines in Korhal uniform began slashing the zerglings and shooting them.

"Welcome" said one marine. "Come along, the commandcenter is not long from here. Those zerg will come back, quickly now. The company now had three instead of four. They all had some wound of some kind. They took the corpse of alan, and funeraled him that knight. "Alan, You have died in the protection of mankind. Rest in Peace." said Jake at the funeral, for Alan was a friend of Jake. They put him in a capsule and launched him into space.

The marines were hurt, and sad for their friend. Brian looked out the window. Far off on the twin volcanos, he could see flashes of light and fire. He fell asleep, despite his worries.

The Strike team overstayed their time at the outpost. They spent an extra day healing from the wounds and eating. They didn't talk to each other. Brian thought of Trevor and Jeremy, and if they were in that battle at the twin mountains. He was worried, because he knew the terrans over there had lost. Throughout the night, the flashes got dimmer and less, but the next night, there were no flashes. The morning after the battle, he had also seen something of a great number moving up the mountain. He was confused, and thought about that for a long time.

Their provisions were restored. "okay, the comsat station shows that the zerg are in a big blob ahead of us. From our radio, we learned that those terrans that were on the twin mountains had died, then more terrans got the zerg. That place is safe. It is a longer route, but if you go there, there are more zerg lurking around those. There is a clear spot, but it is out in the open. After you reach the twin mountains, there is a large clearing. It is dangerous, its open. Maybe you could grab a few vultures from the Terrans down there. " said the commander

"Yes sir, we will go that way" replied Jake. So, the next day, they headed out before the sun rose, about 4 in the morning. The forest had one more surprise for them though, but we will find that out next time.
