Hi! I'm 2Cautious! Some of you may have seen me post around here before, but this will be my first battle report! This battle report is on two games played with me and my dear old friend: My Computer. First, let me introduce My Computer to you. I've had it for about 3-4 years now. It's pretty slow, but oh well. It's still better than me at StarCraft.

I had just finished playing several games where I had rushed in "no rush" game and was feeling pretty confident. But I didn't feel like rushing when no one would expect it (the possibility of getting backstabbed by any allies was also a threat), so I decided I'd play a 2v2 on a "real" map (non-money). However, apparently very few people play on "real" maps these days. To get any decent game, I realized that I'd need a strong, dependable ally to play with (also so that only two others would have to join). None of my friends were on, and then suddenly, I remembered My Computer.

"Hey," I said. "Wanna play a 2v2 of StarCraft?"

"Sure!" My Computer said, "that would be great! You haven't played with me since that time when myself and some other human were going to play against you and someone else. But your ally left, so my ally decided to back-stab me..."

Well, you don't really need to hear the rest of that conversation. Let's just say that My Computer and I decided to play a 2v2.

Game #1:

I created a game "me + comp vs 2 humans" and chose "A bridge too near" as our four player map. This map basically has four quarters of a map, each with a main and two expansion sites, all connected by one network of bridges going into the center.
It only took one remake to get two opponents.

That can't be right...

Then, the game begins. I, CoryDeBurd, have gotten the yellow Protoss. Mister has gotten White Terran. m-don-na has gotten brown Protoss, while My Computer (using its handle "The Kel-Morian Combine"), gets teal terran.

We build and all is peaceful. White makes an attempt to go to the center, but my first 3 zealots discover this, and take it out.

I stop an attempt to kill the center

My zealots continue on into White's main. I make a mistake, however, and attack a bunker with my three weakened zealots and and fourth one coming up. I should've attacked the barracks out of range of the bunker, but oh well. 3 zealots die, and the remaining one retreats to the center.

I send a probe to build a pylon, and later cannons, in the middle to help hold it, but several of white's SCVs and 4 marines come in. My zealot dies, and my pylon is destroyed. White then proceeds to re-fortify the center.

Fortifications

FINALLY teal comes and does something and moves to the center. Teal's troops pretty much bypass White's defense, although they kill some incoming marines. They then proceed to move towards White's main. My troops that I sent as support have died to white's defenses in the center, and I am currently powerless.

Teal, however, abruptly stops the attack, and turns around to take out the white bunker in the center. However, Teal continues to Brown's base instead of back to white's. That was really to bad, because:

WHY didn't we attack the undefended base...?

Anyway, I add a little bit of support. Which turns out to be handy because en-route, we meet a group of brown's zealots heading toward the center.

Battle with Brown

After we kill them, I have lost 2/3 of my force, but Teal is still doing relatively well. It attacks Brown's main, but the infantry die to cannons placed in the base.

Well, so much for that. We could have destroyed or crippled one enemy, but noooo. We had to fight the CANNONS. Oh well. While we're rebuilding, our enemies once again fortify the center.

Everything is quiet for a while until Teal and Myself decide to attack again. Teal has some M&M and some tanks coming, while I have 5-6 zealots and a reaver. While visions of slaughtered Terran infantry and razed bunkers fill my head, I order my reaver to attack the bunker, this turns out to be a mistake, however, as a whole bunch of Brown's zealots come to greet my reaver. I quickly tell it to attack the zealots, but it only gets one scarab off before dying. I order my zealots to engage the Brown's. It would seem as if I would be slaughtered, seeing as Brown has about twice as many zealots as I do. But we are fighting on the bridge, and only 3 zealots can meet there at a time. The rest run around, trying to find a way to get in. Teal is having a little more success. Its troops raze one bunker, and start on the second one. However, at this point, most of the M&M have died to bunker fire, and, what's this?! Teal isn't sieging its Tanks!!!! Omg... anyway, the tanks take down the bunker, but have lost a lot and when the medics start healing the marines in the now-dead bunker, the tanks can't fire fast enough to kill them. With stim and zealot support, the tanks soon die. My zealots have lost the fight against their brethren, and I leave my sole survivor near the bridge to warn me of a possible attack. Apparently, once all of Teal's marines died, Teal didn't know what to do with its medics, and they wander into White's quarter of the map.

It's about the 13 minute mark. Teal expands to its natural as does brown. White looks as if s/he's about to. I still haven't made an expansion attempt. Then, our enemies decide to bring the battle to Teal. White attacks, and kills Teal's troops in his main and starts on the buildings. Troops from Teal's natural come in and fight off the intruders. But now Teal doesn't have much defense and our enemies know this.

Not so much defense...

Somewhere around this time I expand to my natural. But then, teal is attacked by another force, maybe a little larger than the second one. With only remnants of defense, Teal cannot hope to hold off the attack, and our enemies start razing its buildings. My expansion attempt is subject to a 4 Dark Templar drop, and my Nexus dies. Brown now takes my natural. After losing a few scouting observers I figure this out due to the cannons at the ramp. I also spot four DTs and an observer hanging out below the ramp. I send my two reavers to kill them and don't even take a hit. White and Brown's troops have now destroyed Teal's last building and My Computer is defeated. There is almost no chance that I'll win at this point. The last time a won a two on one was against two newbies, which these players certainly aren't. Also, I had kept up the pressure, which was exactly what was being done to me! My main is pretty much out of minerals, and I really need my expansion. I know that if I don't try for it, I'll lose for sure. I send a reaver to attack the cannons at the ramp. My other reaver and some zealots are standing by in case it's attacked. I kill 2 cannons, but then brown's troops come to kill the annoyance. I send my troops into combat, and manage to kill some DTs, but my reavers and zealots all die. At this point, all I have left are three High Templars. I use one to psi-storm where I think Brown's troops are. It works and I kill most of the DTs, but some dragoons are still left and attack me. Psi-storm and cannons hold them off, but I lose my attacking templar and some cannons. Psi-storm holds off another small attack, but the next attack is large, and my HTs are out of energy. In desperation, I morph them into an Archon and attack with my probes. The probes die, and the archon fights and deals about 80 damage to a Battle Cruiser before dying. I have nothing left, and I say "gg" and leave.

Game #2:

After the game, I am understandably angry at my computer for being such a bad ally.

"Why didn't you siege your tanks?!" I ask. "And why didn't you destroy white, or at least attempt to cripple him/her?"

"Oh, come on. You know I'm not programmed to act and react intelligently. I have to do it mindlessly. Besides, that was just a warm-up, and I wasn't playing as my best race. And you know that I still own you at StarCraft."

"You do not! I beat you even in my newbie days!"

"Yeah, except that was an island map and you turtled like the newbie you are." Having no comment to that, I said, "Well, at least I chose a race I was good with!"

"Not the time when you played DeBurd as Zerg and only built one hatchery and the two hydras that you did build died to the archon/reaver combination..."

Well, you don't need to hear the rest of that, either. I agree to give the computer another chance, and this time it chooses Protoss as its race. It takes a few remakes, but eventually we get a player, jswsedoll01, joins. We were about to let My Computer get another base and play against itself, but then ssnake_HIV joins and My Computer is saved from that fate.

Jswsed01 is brown Terran, while his/her ally, ssnake_HIV, is white Zerg. CoryDeBurd, myself, gets the Teal Protoss, while My Computer, using its handle "Sargas Tribe" is the blue protoss. The Protoss players start on the North end of the map, while the Terran and Zerg start on the bottom.

We all start our respective builds. Brown's SCV finds me warping in 2 Gateways, and then leaves. White's Overlord was about to scout me, but then turns back. It then changes its mind and comes back for more spying.

Stupid computer... maybe a human ally would've been more effective...

Stupid computer! Brown has decided to use the trick of attacking a computer before it has a sufficient military. It will then chase the attacker across the map. This hurt Blue's economy greatly. "We're so dead..." I thought.

My first 4 zealots go to attack brown, but die to the bunker at the choke. Then, with very good coordination, white sends some zerglings into my base, only to retreat to the might of 4 zealots. However, Brown's marines are heading over toward my probe line. Luckily, I see this and my zealots quickly go to slaughter the marines. White attacks again, and I almost lose a pylon supporting my gateway, but my zealots kill the zerglins. I warp in some cannons to prevent more stuff like this, and warp in another pylon to support the gateways.

After recovering from Brown's initial attack of one SCV, blue sends troops to Brown's main. I quickly send my forces in, but they arrive mostly at the end of the short battle at the choke.

Battle with Brown (again)

There is almost no defense in Brown's main, and Brown is forced to liftoff whatever buildings possible to escape doom at the hands of our zealot's blades (do blades have hands?).

White attacks me with some lings, and they manage to get to the probe line. But instead of attacking they burrow. I move my defense troops there to prevent anything and warp in a cannon so that I can see then. They unburrow and are slaughtered by my troops.

Blue gets confused and its troops keep running around and near Brown's main base, but everything left on the ground has been destroyed.

I then decide to see how powerful White is, and attack. My few zealots are easily repelled by the sunken colonies and I decide that I need more to combat White.

Then, blue decides to send some troops to attack White. I help, too, but in the end, we are pretty much slaughtered by the sunkens.

Guess we need something else, eh?

Blue expands to its natural. Brown has apparently put one barracks and a factory on Blue's cliff expansion (can't be reached via ramp). Hmmm... what's Brown up to?

Uh oh! Brown starts pumping out siege tanks. And the bad thing is that many of blue's precious tech buildings are in range! I quickly send the reavers that I had wanted to drop on White's drones to defend the island, but I drop them in the wrong place and they are obliterated.

A forge and a cybernetics core are destroyed by the tanks, and the zealots mill around, trying to get to the siege tanks while having potshots taken on them.

My next drop consists of 4 zealots that manages to take out 2 of the tanks, and reduce the threat. There is still one tank, however, and the Blue's zealots aren't going to do anything until it's gone.

I had had two Dark Templar scouting for Brown's base, and I load them up into a shuttle, and drop them. They kill the siege tank and the vultures there without losing one of their number. Brown's barracks escapes, but the Factory does not. Blue's island is safe.

Then, White decides to send a whole bunch of lings straight into my main. They are fought off, but I lose some tech buildings and many units. Ouch.

I start to get a starport for corsairs to chase off the annoying queens that had been broodling my units. I have an expansion at my natural, but my main is out of minerals. I take shuttle with a probe to expand to Blue's cliff, which I had saved.

White's lings make another appearance, and this time I lose a lot, but I don't completely die. Blue's troops can be seen in my quarter of the map, but don't do anything. Blue has 5,000 minerals at this point, and has a good income, but has hardly made any attacks at all! C'mon, shape up, Computer!

My poor main...

Blue finally decides to attack, and troops file in to White's quarter. There, Brown has put a lot of his/her tech, which gets destroyed by Blue's troops. Blue's troops, however, don't do so well against the sunkens in White's main, especially with siege tanks firing on them from above, and they die.

White's lings attack again, and there are just a few, so they don't do too much damage, but I can hardly afford anymore damage at this point. Brown drops tanks into my natural, but I fight them off with zealots and probes.

White's next ling attack is more effective, and my main is razed to ground. One zealot manages to escape to my cannoned expansion, but that's it for the ground. White's lings then proceed to Blue's main, but don't do too much damage there before dying.

Bye main...

Blue then expands to what was once my main base. What? Why? There aren't any minerals there. Oh, that's right, you have about 3,500 in the bank, but not so much gas. Fine...

Wow! The computer attacked!

Blue attempts a drop on Brown's island, but the turrets there slaughter everything. It's about 35 minutes into the game, and it looks like we're winning! Blue has dominated the map, and our enemies are running out of minerals and have no income. Blue and I each have one running expansion, but that's it.

My sairs have warped in, and when Blue attacks White again, albeit unsuccessfully with zealots, scouts, and sairs, I unleash their power and kill 2-3 overlords in White's base. Go me! I am now getting Carriers warped in to take out the turrets in Brown's island.

Blue makes annoying raids on White's expansion using sairs to d-web spore colonies, and then hit them, but the attacks don't do much damage.

When I have two carriers, I attack Brown's island. The turrets and few goliaths fall to their might, and I start to raze the base.

Take that!

Brown waits for a while, and then leaves the game.

gg Brown

Blue has eroded White's main and expansion, and my carriers start pummeling them both to death. "gg"s are exchanged between White and myself, and with that, I win! Er, WE win!

gg

And were there any thoughts on why My Computer beat us all?:

That would do it...

That's me!

Well, thanks to everyone, especially My Computer, for two great games! And, yes, I see the light, Computer. You really are good at StarCraft.
