The infringement upon rivals, some say a battle between friends. 1st Player: Mike alias DeezNutz~Dsc~ 2nd Player: Daniel alias Dragon~Dsc~ This time period pertained to 1.07, before the replays and zerg elixir. Mike and I met through SC and became close friends, there isn’t a time I couldn’t turn to him for personal advice and eventually we met up. Keep this in mind as each of us know the others tendencies and weaknesses. Ah yes, it must have been a Thursday afternoon as I recall. Few times could he get online and I started down the same path, life getting ever more complicated the time just wasn’t there anymore. We met up in our dead clan channel and decided to do a run of games for old time sakes and to ditch whatever else had our attention on. Map: Hunters Locations: Mike 12 o’clock zerg and I receive the 6 o’clock toss ( we picked ) Backround on Mike A top notch hydralisk controller, tends to be a HC player, and melee dropper. (Hardcore players create versatile builds, strategies, count on scouting intelligence, and seldom do they ever switch up their strategy.) Backround on myself Expert stormer, if I have a weakness against zerg it pertains to the love of the zealot. I try to catch people off guard because there is usually always a break in troop count or vulnerability. I won’t expand if I have to I drop on peon lines like crazy and love arbiters. The Beginning Mike starts out with a conservative build and hatches at his choke and begins a fast ling tech. I do a standard two gate. Mike sends his first attack run of twelve lings but the 5 zealots make quick work of one as they make a swift retreat. I then take my naturals choke and build a photon cannon. Meanwhile, back at the broods center Mike has cranked out a hatchery at his natural and a few sunken at his choke. Each are aware of the others defenses by a scouting array one zergling for Mike. I soon send 8 zealots and spy his sunken. Knowing each other quite well we each start to expand. Mike expands to the 11’oclock and 1 o’clock position while I take up residence in the 7’oclock teching to templar and upgrades. Having earlier upgrades give me a lead as I am at 2-0 and he at 0-1. Some time went by and although at this time unbeknownst to my knowledge he has two evolutionary chambers upgrading while I have just now begun to warp in my 2nd forge. Moments later he lets rampant his first onslaught, at first I believed it to be just of 2 ½ control groups of hydralisk for their height gives them away far before their coming. Then I saw them, like wolves 24 lings just inched ahead of them and began to crash into my line of 12 zealots. Then I take my two templars up and one let loose a crackling storm. Unfortunately he saw my mighty mage and turned tail. Fortunately for me this wasted his zergling incursion but they soon came back this time the storm was placed on their farthest lines and so they did not run. When all was said and done only the exhaust of 3 photon cannon fire could be heard. A few skirmishes were made afterward but to no avail for we both knew that one mistake would end our game. The Gathering This is when I realized that the war could not be fought upon my ground, for his territory had risen at the utmost pace and many gateways were called into service. At this point I knew not his strength in hatcheries or I would not have attempted my next feat. Soon I came to the 149/200 and marshelled a grand mix of zealots, templar, dark templar, dragoons, and an observer. I came forth into the middle of the map, and I saw a trap set forth. My greatest adversary in starcraft had surrounded every side except my southern flank. But he knew not my knowledge and quickly I had my goons make a circle formation while my zealots laid on the fringes and my templar mainly in the middle. Setting 3 templar on the fringes the zerg swarm came swiftly and the sound of clicking made madly by mouse of speedy storms had the pace of an arcade game where no moves were known to you. When the dust settled only 2 control groups of 6-7 made it out alive, half damaged. I knew what had to be done, I summoned a stargate and soon an arbiter would be in the making. Again and again and again the battle raged on as this war of attrition continued. Neither could break into the others facilities and scouts were placed all over the map to check for movement. Then came the massing, I must have had 24 templars at my command. At this moment came the doom drop, but I was prepared both at 7’oclock expansion and my main. His troops were obliterated. Soon we each massively expanded but neither of us held it for long. The Darkening The brutal exchange in blows were continuous, there was no pause. But when an expansion crept up I would have to send more worth than he, the splitting up of my forces were not worth the risks. These numbers were starting to take its toll and with the minerals depleting and the arbiter ready I knew it was my time. I took two control groups, for I could remake them with easy and took out his 11’clock along with several hatcheries before his forces could destroy mine. For I use 7 dark templar to target his buildings while my 2 templar 1 goon and 12 zealots engaged his forces which were choked because of the massive hatcheries. Then I made my decision I had to have a decisive victory, an all-out-attack was to be made upon his main. His only means of resources resulted from his 1’oclock expansion, all others had dried up or been destroyed, but our storages were barely enough to keep us going. From these countless battles most of my templar survived and so they came to his main. There were water falls of storms, not once inch of the map touched by a zergling could survive, soon my forces barely made their way into his main but my templar could no longer fight and they morphed into archons, but few survived their transformation. At this time he expanded to the 11’oclocks natural. I gathered what remaining warriors I could and still had a chance at victory, I sent my arbiter to the 11’oclock but it blew up to incoming hydralisks before I could pull it back. Six hydralisk…he had 6 sunken at his choke and two other control groups at his main. Soon I had to expand but as always his 6 crackling renegades took it down. The rampaging swarm slowly battered by forces down to nothing and the game became his. One of my better games We each scored in the 200ks he in the high I in the low 48 minutes
