The Ogre Lord
Setting:

The Lost Temple
This game starts out in a very…
unique, manner, as Kitty immediately transforms three
peasants into militia, and while Horseboy does the same
with two of his own. Then, with these new forces, they
charged to the position right underneath Procyon’s
base.
Why did they do this, and what did
they hope to achieve? Their plan was soon revealed, much
to the shock of all concerned. For, when peasants are
rushed to an opponent’s main base, there is only one
strategy that can possibly result.

Yes, the fiends were
offensive-building… two Altars of Kings? Yes,
and right below Procyon’s base, no less! However,
there was one slight problem. There were other
inhabitants of this area. And they did not find this plan
at all to their liking.

After leisurely demolishing
Kitty’s Altar of Kings, the Ogres go back to their
corner, obviously pleased with themselves and the revenge
of the Creeps. Ogres 1, players 0. Horseboy swears a dark,
evil oath, to defeat the Ogres, no matter the cost.
Kitty, however, doesn’t seem to mind. At the same
time, and blissfully unaware of these goings-on, Procyon
and Wayne are opting for a more… traditional
approach to building. Procyon builds an Altar of his own
and a Barracks, complete with two burrows. Wayne,
however, quickly upgrades his Necropolis to a Halls of
the Dead, though he gets a Crypt for lumber harvesting.
 |
 |
Kitty speed-builds yet another
Altar, obviously to replace the one lost, and it is soon
completed. Horseboy queues a Mountain King, while Kitty
opts for an Archmage. Procyon, however, starts a Farseer,
and it seems that the second team didn’t gain that
much time by building right outside Procyon’s base.
The orange player, obviously deciding that the view of
four ogres and a slope is something that everyone should
enjoy, starts a Farm and a Lumber Mill to complete the
two-Altar look. However, this means that Kitty’s
base is somewhat…lacking in buildings.

Keeping true to form, Horseboy
attempts to construct his own Lumber Mill. It is at this
moment that we’ll add our first update.
UPDATE! (2:30)

As one can easily see from the
minimap, Kitty’s and Horseboy’s combined base
is awfully close to Procyon’s. What one cannot see
too clearly is the relative strengths of the forces,
which are as follows.
Procyon: 590 gold, 70
lumber. Army consists of one level one Farseer
(Kazragore), with Feral Spirit as the first technique. Is
training the first grunt, and has a fairly formidable
line of burrows up.
HolyKnightWayne: 270 gold,
100 lumber. Army consists of four lumber-harvesting
ghouls, and he doesn’t have his Altar up yet.
However, he nearly has his Necropolis upgraded to a Halls
of the Dead, which will have a fairly formidable
defensive capability.
HelloKittyDelux: 280 gold,
169 lumber. Army consists of… three peasants?
However, a Mountain King is almost finished at the Altar,
and one of the peasants is nearly done with a tower.
Super_Horseboy: 196 gold, 35
lumber. Army consists of… one level one Archmage
(Landazar), with Blizzard as the first technique.
That’s all he has, though…
Ogres:
Two Ogre Warriors, an Ogre-Mage, and an Ogre Lord.
Currently, they are not wounded, though they’re
getting ready to attack again.
Horseboy builds his lumber mill just
a little too close to the Ogres, who swoop down in
defense of their property values. Once again, the Ogre
Magi leaves the dirty work to the other Ogres, lazily
casting Bloodlust on one of the Warriors.

Attempting to teach the humans a
lesson in manners and Creeping etiquette, the Ogres not
only demolish the Lumber Mill, but kill the peasant while
they’re at it. Surprisingly enough, one peasant
dashes to safety… right next to the Ogre-Mage. Ogres
3, players nothing.
: Hello!
It is right at this time that
Procyon’s Farseer dashes into this battle between
the Archmage and the Ogres. It is also at this precise
moment that the Mountain King is created, and he squares
off against the Ogre Lord. Lastly, a tower is (finally)
constructed at Kitty’s base, and is soon upgraded to
a Guard Tower. Needless to say, the Archmage lends his
ally some support… Indiscriminately Blizzarding both
friend and foe with equal abandon. This, however, causes
a little bit of trouble for Landazar the Archmage.
Namely, the Ogres switch to him as a target, and the old
man is quickly sent running, managing to get away with a
mere seventy hitpoints remaining. Unfortunately, that
means the Mountain King is alone against the full might
of Procyon’s Farseer. Needless to say, there can
only be one outcome.
: Go team!
Kitty’s tower is then knocked
down, its brief existence claiming the lives of
Kitty’s three peasants and enabling the leveling-up
of Procyon’s Farseer. Horseboy dashes in, determined
to save his ally’s town… but he awakens the
Ogres again. Between the axes of numerous Grunts
and the Ogres’ clubs, the Archmage doesn’t
stand a chance. With timing that simply can not be
coincidental, the Mountain King is revived mere seconds
after the Archmage is killed. Be that as it may, the
Mountain King quickly runs inside Procyon’s base,
seeking refuge from the unusually active Ogres. The
creeps, after leisurely whacking the Altars a bit, charge
bravely into Procyon’s base… And they finally
remember that they’re not allied to Procyon, and
switch to attacking Orcs. Ogres 4, players 0.
:Glory!
The Ogres cause some random damage,
nearly killing Procyon’s Farseer. The Mountain King,
smelling blood, attacks the said Farseer, and a small
duel erupts. In the end, the spirit wolves keep Kitty
just busy enough for the Farseer to escape through the
side exit. The Archmage, returning to seek vengeance for
his earlier humiliation, attacks the Ogres. He gains it,
for both Ogre Warriors die before Horseboy withdraws,
moderately wounded. Ogres 4, Players 2.
: Booyah!
UPDATE! (5:18)

As in the last update, things are
looking pretty bad for Team Two. Their ill-positioned
base is about to be attacked by three sides by the
combined might of Procyon, Wayne, and the Ogres.
Procyon: 630 gold, 225
lumber. His forces are: Kazragore, now at level two and
with Chain Lightning, and three grunts. No upgrades here,
though he has two barracks with which to get more grunts.
He’s still at the Great Hall stage, for defense
he’s constructed two Watch Towers.
HolyKnightWayne: 520 gold,
758 lumber. His army consists of eight ghouls (two of
which are harvesting lumber) and a level one Dreadlord,
Banehollow. Squint really carefully, and you’ll
notice that he has added a shade to his forces. Currently
he has the Halls of the Dead, and is getting a Graveyard.
Obviously, no upgrades here.
HelloKittyDelux: 867 gold,
399 lumber. Right now, Kitty has no army whatsoever, for
Kelv Sternhammer died a short while ago. However, the
Town Hall is being upgraded to a Keep, though there are
no barracks or any other troop-producing structures up
yet.
Super_Horseboy: 823 gold,
125 lumber. He has a proud army of one… Archmage,
that is. Landazar is still at level one, unfortunately,
though a barracks is nearly completed. Horseboy is still
at the Town Hall stage, and shows no signs of upgrading
anytime soon.
Ogres:
With the loss of both Ogre Warriors, the offensive power
of the Ogres has been diminished somewhat. The Ogre Mage
has suffered quite a knocking, though his Bloodlust could
still turn the tide of any battle. The Ogre Lord is only
slightly better-off, as he has more hitpoints to lose.
Wayne chooses this time to attack
with his Dreadlord and six Ghouls, and adds his forces
into the mix. Team Two could stand a chance… except
that they don’t have any regular forces at all.
Kitty doesn’t even have a Barracks at this point in
the game, and the Mountain King just bit the dust…
Hard.
:Yeah, what he said…
D’oh!
With the death of Kelv, Landazar is
left by himself, with three Grunts and the incoming
Scourge to manage. He, being no Antonidas, decides to
awaken the sleeping Ogres, and blasts the Lord to get his
attention. The Ogre Lord, not being a night person,
rewards Horseboy’s troubles with a Shockwave.
: This can’t be
good…
: I’m… still alive!
No casualties, but Landazar is
forced to retreat, and very little damage is done to the
Ogres. Ogres 5, Players 2. Meanwhile, the Mountain King
is resurrected… right in the middle of Wayne’s
Ghoul force. After exchanging a few blows, he dashes off
for dear life. Team One gives a half-hearted chase to the
fleeing dwarf, then turns around and begins demolishing
the base. Kelv, now free to plot, starts heading back to
the scene of the action.
While all of this was happening, the
Archmage had it out with the remaining two Ogres.
However, his Blizzard was slightly off-target, and
between the two Ogres, there was only one possible
outcome. Ogres 6, Players 2.
: ‘tis only a flesh wound!
Meanwhile, Team One starts laying
the base low, and in utter despair, the Mountain King
awakens the Gnolls and lures them to the first team.
Unfortunately, Gnolls aren’t nearly as powerful as
the Ogres, and the hyena-men are quickly defeated.
However, they do manage to kill one Grunt before they
die, and they force the Mountain King to run away.
:Still alive!
The dwarf decides that it would be
safe to run through the Lost Temple, and he runs to the
healing fountain inside. Once there, he leads Procyon on
a merry dance around the fountain, where he then wakes up
the gnolls. This time, however, the gnolls go after Kelv,
and he’s forced to use his scroll of town portal.
Wayne and Procyon proceed to lay the smack down on the
remaining gnolls.

Horseboy takes this opportunity to
act on his vow to destroy the Ogres, and he charges in
with the Archmage and two Footmen. The Ogre Mage manages
to get one Bloodlust off on his leader before he dies,
and the Lord proceeds to wipe out the two Footmen.
Landazar, so angry at the loss of his two men, casts his
Blizzard… right behind the Ogre Lord…
:Landazar,
I think you missed...
After that debacle, the Archmage
dashes off and plans another assault. Unfortunately for
him, the Ogre Lord doesn’t let him get away so
easily. With a few more swats, the tally becomes Ogres 9,
players 3. The Creeps have definitely shown their mettle
in this battle…
: Help,
help, I’m being repressed!
Surprisingly, the Peasant that
heretofore had been alive charges in, apparently willing
to sacrifice himself in the memory of the Archmage.
Needless to say, this was quickly squelched by the Ogre
Lord. Ogres 10, players 3.
: That's it, I'm dead.

Wayne creeps the southern end of the
temple, taking out the Gnolls, while Procyon (finally)
levels the ill-fated base at the foothills of his own.
Instantly, three things happen. Wayne, with new
Necromancers in tow, attacks Kitty’s base. Procyon,
finished with the base, charges into the temple. And
Horseboy, with an even larger force than before, attacks
the Ogre Lord.
UPDATE! (8:53)

Procyon: 416 gold, 350
lumber. The Orcish Horde consists of Kazragore (still at
level 2) and five grunts. Surprisingly, the grunts still
aren’t upgraded. At least he’s gotten his Great
Hall upgraded to a Stronghold…
HolyKnightWayne: 957 gold,
848 lumber. The Scourge have in their ranks nine ghouls
(two of which are still on lumber harvesting), 4
necromancers, 2 shades, 4 skeleton warriors (just risen),
and Banehollow (at level 2). The ghouls aren’t
upgraded, and the necromancers are still at the Initiate
stage.
HelloKittyDelux: 2162 gold,
623 lumber. The tremendous army is made of… Kelv
Sternhammer the level one Mountain King, and nothing
else. Considering that Wayne’s about to attack his
main base, that’s not a good sign at all. Even his
Keep won’t be enough to stop the onslaught…
Super_Horseboy: 372 gold,
375 lumber. His forces are slightly better than his
partner, consisting of Landazar (still at level one) and
four non-upgraded Footmen. He’s just now getting his
replacement Lumber Mill, and he’s still at the Town
Hall stage.
Ogres:
Following the loss of his Ogre-Mage, the Ogre Lord is
feeling very lonely indeed. At least he has the warm
memory of killing that blasted peasant to keep him from
despairing. He’s quite wounded, unfortunately.

Wayne charges in with these forces,
whereas Kitty has… the Mountain King and a mob of
peasants. Surprisingly, the Mountain King fights for
longer than anticipated, though he eventually falls to
the combined might of a Vampiric Aura, Skeletons, and
Ghouls. The militia, obviously, fare even worse than
that.

How did Wayne know when to attack?
How could he have guessed that Kitty has no military at
all? The answer, of course, is the shade hidden in
Kitty’s base. Another one is in Horseboy’s, and
he also sees a near-complete lack of military might.
However, two of Kitty’s peasants manage to dash
away, and they run to Horseboy’s base. The orange
buildings are abandoned as lost, and Wayne is more than
happy to knock them down.

Over in the upper left-hand corner,
Horseboy charges with the redoubtable Archmage, three
Footmen in tow, bound and determined to slay the Ogre
Lord. After a spirited defense, with liberal Shockwaves
all around, the Ogre Lord is killed.

The taste of victory is fairly sweet
indeed, netting a Red Drake Egg.

However, out of respect for the dead
or sheer incompetence, Horseboy dashes off without the
Drake Egg, making the final tally Ogres 11, players 4. On
the way back to his base, Horseboy decides to wipe out
the Trolls at his natural expansion. He does so, but at
the price of half his Footmen and his Water Elemental.
Those losses will be felt quite hard, because Procyon is
now waltzing through his base, merrily wiping out Footmen
and attacking the Barracks.

UPDATE! (10:30)

Procyon: 400 gold, 225
lumber. The Orcish Horde has expanded to seven grunts
(though still not upgraded) and Kazragore, who is now
uber-Farseer. (Level 3). On the home front,
Procyon’s getting his Stronghold upgraded to a
Fortress, and he’s finished construction on a
Beastiary.
HolyKnightWayne: 213 gold,
858 lumber. The Scourge now includes the uber-Banehollow
(level three), Ordin Frostbane the first-level Lich,
seven ghouls (two harvesting lumber), three Necromancers
(Initiate-level), two Shades, and three Skeleton
Warriors. He doesn’t have the Black Citadel yet, but
in this stage of the game, it really doesn’t matter.
HelloKittyDelux: 2326 gold,
617 lumber. As for units… Kitty has two peasants.
Other than that, the base is going down, and there’s
no military with which to reclaim it. Kitty has plenty of
resources, though, if Horseboy could clear an area for
his partner to settle in.
Super_Horseboy: 758 gold,
585 lumber. All Horseboy has, though, are five footmen
and Landazar, who’s managed to make level two.
He’s still at the Town Hall stage, and there’s
no chance that he’ll be able to upgrade in safety.
Ogres:
GG man, gg.
Landazar and his two remaining
Footmen, seeing that they stand no chance at all against
Procyon’s Grunts, run toward Wayne’s base. The
Orcs, finding themselves without any major opponents,
begin the destruction of the base. Unfortunately,
Kitty’s peasants dash into the mix, and the entire
Orcish army turns to greet them. One, being sensible,
runs for dear life, a single Grunt chasing after him. The
other, inexplicably, begins constructing three buildings
at once.

What are these awe-inspiring
structures? What building could possibly be strong enough
to turn the tides of war? What… YES! They
are…
FARMS!
Despite the best efforts of the said
peasant, he dies quickly, and the Farms quickly follow
him. The last of the peasants leads the Grunt on a merry
chase, but he, too, is killed in the end. With Kitty
completely done, and Horseboy without any means of
defeating Procyon’s army, Team One hunkers down for
some good old-fashioned mop-up.
However, Horseboy
isn’t going to take this lying down. He dashes off
to Wayne’s base, though the result is slightly less
than what he wants or expects…

Yes, the Dreadlord had demolished
Kitty’s base at the best possible time, for he
caught the Archmage right when he was dashing away.
Between the Ghouls and the Necromancers, Landazar is
wiped out. With him gone, and with no Altar to resurrect
him, Procyon gets to take his time in wiping out the
base. Wayne seizes the opportunity to creep his natural
expansion. However, there’s no reason to expand, for
now it’s…
