A guide to Continuum and a BR!
| This is NOT a Starcraft or Warcraft 3 Battlereport!!
Welcome to my first Battlereport!
Before you start to read this br, know that if you were grown up on RTS games, you will probably hate Continuum.
Still with me?
Continuum is a Third Person Shooter were you select a ship and duke it out with everyone before you get killed. (Hey, isn't that what you do in EVERYgame?)
I will attempt to explain Continuum in less than a page.
Continuum can be broken down into 4 basic parts.
1: The guns
This is probably the best thing to have in Continuum. If you don't have guns, you're as good as Dead. Guns are used to kill people. 'Nuff said. Your guns consist of Bullets and bombs. Bullets are used in strafing attacks are useful for widespread destruction. Bombs are stronger bullets but with a slower cooldown rate. They are useful in base defence, killing off groups of enemies, and using their splash to kill your teammates =). The best tactic is to bomb them from afar, then move in for the kill with a barrage of bullets if he survived the bombs. Bullets and bombs all have levels, and with each level attained the damage of your guns goes up.
2: Your ship
This is even better than guns. Your ship is your lifeline, get it blown up and you DIE Your ship holds your guns, abilities, items and if it dies, you cannot retrieve it. Your ship has an energy level and firing weapons or taking damage decreases that energy. Your energy continually recharges but when you run out of energy you die.
3: Special items and abilities
Your ship initially contains absolutely no abilities (unless specified in the zone). The abilities your ship can contain are:
| Cloaking, which renders you invisible to the screen, but not to the radar screen. |
| | Stealth, which makes your ship invisible to radar, but not to sight.
| | Xradar, which counters cloaking and stealth
| | >and Antiwarp, which denies warping to or from any point.
|
The special items you can get are:
Thor's Hammers, which are essentially level 4 bombs that can go through walls.
Portals, which allow you to warp to the portal point once.
Rockets, which shoot you off to hell in a second. Very useful if you're a n00b and you just dont want to fight someone.
Bricks, which are walls that only you and your teammates can shoot through.
Repels which repel all enemy fire around you. If used improperly, you'll get killed from all the bullets bouncing around.
Decoys... they release a decoy. Duh
Finally, the almighty burst. Burst fires a halo of extremely fast bullets around your ship, and is activated when the bullet hits a wall. Very useful when attackers have broken through your base defence.
And finally, skill, the best ability!
Skill: Do I HAVE to explain this?
And now the actual Report!
bullet net zoneDEATH STAR BATTLE! The Rebels Fight Back
DSB: A map where the Empire and Rebellion duke it out for ultimate control of the death star... There are 100 flags in stationary positions around the DSB, and to get full score and maintain full control you must capture and maintain control over all flags. Very well balanced ships and 3-4 easy to defend (choked up) entrances make this a bitch to get into, and a bitch to get out.
This round of battles begin when our Brainless Soldiers Emperial Warriors are fending off a new offensive by The Rebels. Hacking their way through the hordes of defending players, The Rebels Managed to secure the entire south side and was mounting an attack in the core. ~10 of fighters and bombers swarmed up through the core and launched a hail of gunfire and the Emperial Soldiers respond by grouping and firing back. This continues on for about 30 secounds before some reinforcments warp in behind the front lines and rush the Emperial Soldiers, effectively seperating the troops and leaving behind enough people to overpower and destroy each and every enemy.
Ouchies!
The Rebels now had control of the Deathstar, except for a few errant troopers wandering around. They proceeded to try and capture every flag instead of killing off the few people left...
NEVER do that in DSB
The surviving troops made the call out for reinforcements, and lo and behold, the Empire answered the call. After ~7 ships warped in, The Imperial Troops launched a counter attack but were quickly stopped by The Rebels who had actually taken the time to look at their radar. A few bombs took out the entire group, and with the exception of one last ship, which wandered the North aimlessly (or maybe not, who the hell knows?)
The Rebels quickly hunted down and destroyed the last person inside.
Damn.
Aside from the odd man rushes, all was calm in the Death Star as the The Rebels flagged every flag and actually managed to hang on for about... 3 minutes.
The Imperial Forces used one of the lamest tricks in DSB: take the trick entrance. When The Rebels were preoccupied with wasting energy tube-bombing the common entrances, two ships snuck into the North-East area and about 7 ships warped in..
They attacked, being contained by the endless streams of troops flowing in, and managed to take down many Rebels before falling back. The troops once again warped in and kept on the pressure with a few ships. Eventually the Imperial Forces overpowered the Rebels and took control of the Death Star, regaining their ancestral home...
A Rebel soldier voiced my opinions on this strategy while showing his support for the Empire:
DING DING DING
And so ended the round, with the Rebels winning by sheer amount of flags, but the Empire controlling the Death Star... And my BR ends here.
LESSONS LEARNED
- Warp rushing is gay
- I will never learn how to link images
- Continuum Battlereports lack direction
- Rate this a 10 because its my first br. J/K. I think.
