Map - Winter conquest
Incase you don't know, Winter conquest is a 6 player map with main bases on high ground and mineral only expansions. It's very fun to play on and i would recommend it to people who are sick of lost temple.
Players - Arthur[42] vs 0.03am
Both are expert zerg players and also know the map well. Arthur[42] comes in at the 12' position, while 0.03am starts at the 8' base.
Arthur[42]'s opening:
9 - extractor trick
10 - overlord
12 - hatchery on ramp
12 - spawning pool
12 - extractor
16 - hydralisk den
18 - overlord
18 - overlord
0.03am's opening:
9 - overlord
12 - extractor
12 - spawning pool
14 - hatchery next to first
16 - lair
18 - spire
18 - overlord
18 - overlord
Obviously from the build order, Arthur[42] plans to get hydralisks fast, upgrade the movement and range, and proceed to invade the fellow zerg commander's base. He uses his first overlord to scout to the 2' base, finding nothing but resources, and he uses his second overlord to scout to the 10' base, still finding nothing but resources. He keeps his third overlord over his ramp for detection.
0.03am intends to build a well-rounded team of both zerglings and mutalisks. He sends an overlord up to the 10' base, and not finding an enemy he continues to scout to the 12', where he uncovers his foe's location.
Determined to find out where his opponent's base lie and what race he had chosen, Arthur[42] sends a zergling to each possible base. He finally finds the enemy zerg and also sees a spire, which automatically told him that he would have to deal with mutalisks. To solve this problem, he mutated an evolution chamber and 3 spore colonies near his minerals to defend a potential muta attack.
Meanwhile, 0.03am brought about 20 zerglings to camp out at the enemy natural, preventing an expansion. Noticing this by way of an overlord, Arthur[42] brought hydralisks to kill them and used micromanagement to lead them back up to his ramp where sunken colonies could easily take care of them. However, unlike most players, 0.03am actually posessed some micro skills of his own, and moved his precious lings back down to the natural. This sequence of events happened repeatedly, and Arthur[42] was able to rid himself of about half of the lings. He used hydralisks to finish them off, allowing himself to expand.
Unfortunatly, 0.03am didn't like the idea of an enemy expansion, and brought many a ling and muta to bring it down. There were not enough hydralisks to fend off the enormous attack, and the enemy forces continued into Arthur[42]'s main base. Although he was able to defend the attack, defeat was inevidable since he was down to one hatchery and 0.03am clearly had an economic advantage. "gg" was said by both players.
lesson learned - lings and mutas are the superior strategy in zvz
Having learned some html basics, I hope it made this report better than my first one.
PS: Stop playing lost temple!
