Shamans versus Necromancers

Map: Duskwood

Type: 2v2 Ladder

Battle Report:

It was a nice late Sunday afternoon, and I decided I'll play War3 on bnet. So, after following the usual ritual of logging in to bnet, I decided I want to play 2:2 rather than 1:1 and proceeded.

After a few seconds of waiting for a matching game, I got a match up ringing in. It turned out, I have a Level5 Undead partner to join forces with me, a measly Level4 Orc. And guess what, we're up against two Level8 players, one is a Human and while the other chose Random.

It was on Duskwood map that bnet chose to shed our blood. At the start of the game, my ally and I just do the normal "hey, wassup", just to get things a bit warm for both of us. I got spawned at the upper right, while my ally was on upper left, We talk about how come we're put up against two Level8s, and clearly, these two have an advantage. So anyway, after the rant, we proceeded to do our task, build a base, raise an army and win (or lose) the war.

I decided to go for a conservative build order, while my ally decided to use a fast hero build order. I look at his town and units when he go creeping up.

And surprise, the opponent seems to be faster than him. Naturally, I know I'll be late with creeping but it bothers me that our opponent is faster than my ally. One of the, supposed to be 3, wolves is dead in my ally's area.

(What the? Missing wolf?)

And when I go creeping to my natural expansion, the creeps are dead as well. It is too alarming, they are sneaking into us so fast.

(Woah, they killed the creeps in my expansion too!!)

So I told my ally that we should strike early. I can't go conservative anymore, and I need to rethink my strat. I pointed him where I wanted to attack, and in agreement, we both proceed to lower right.

(No time to waste, strike hard and strike fast!)

Surely a quarter distance away from our enemy, an early expansion is building up. We tore it down quickly, scaring the forces and his MK hero to main to his main base, bringing the battle to his town.

(Early human expansion)

AND THEN................MASS SHAMANS WITH BLADE MASTER TELEPORTED IN THERE. My forces are all scattered (my mistake) and those shamans with Bloodlust kept roaring and tearing down all our forces. I know that we need to retreat, but I can't type so I stayed for a bit until my TaurenChieftain hero is half dead. I need to escape, fast, so I TP. I feel really bad, not telling my ally that I'll retreat. But he saw that none of our forces are left alive, only my TaurenChieftain survived the ordeal.

(1st encounter with Shamans)
It's a successful, but very costly attack. We managed to raze major structures, stopped production of Human and destroyed an early expansion. My ally lost his Dread Lord hero to creeps, while both of our troops are decimated. Now, I didn't scout (another mistake) but seeing the mass shamans and low level Blade master led me to believe that he tech up just for this, don't have melee units as meat shields (Grunts) and that he didn't have much money in his
coffers too!!

I always tell my ally what I should go for or what move I'll do next, so he can build whatever support force he'll use. I ponder upon this and I propose to my ally that we attack the Orc instead. He declined, and counter proposed to keep the pressure on Human. I wanted to disagree, as seeing mass shamans, the Orc won't really have much meat shields to protect himself from us. But there's no time to disagree, so I agreed. I also rethink my strat (after seeing mass shammies) and decided to have Kodos for support and added damage rather than go all out Grunt/Headhunter combo.

(Can Kodo turn the tide?)

My ally is doing his counter measures as well (I think), seeing how he have Necro for support. Upon mustering a small army, we decided keep on the offensive. I don't have much units, but I'm confident that our enemy is hurting too so we go for it. Surely, the expansion is being rebuilt and with support towers to defend. But it's not much of a stand off, we overwhelm the towers.

(Human tried to expand again!)

But then, the Orc BM came to the rescue yet again, ALONE!!! So, I focused on him, but he used Mirror Image (darn it), and then the Shammies outflanked our team from a different side! NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can only stare in horror as my hero fell down!

(Shamans outflanked out us)
But we managed to get their heroes too. A much costly trade since theirs are much higher level. This time, I am really annoyed by the continuous foiled attempts, and costly skirmishes. That flanking move really got us both. And the shamans are really getting in to me. This is really going to be non-conservative Tier1 battle. I tried to stay away from Tier2 since Orcs isn't that good in Tier2 units, but my Tier1 coupled with Tier2 support are being slaughtered by Shammies. I told my ally I'll go for Bloodlust, and Taurens (grrr). I actually told my ally a lot during the game, but it's too bad the replay doesn't record it. But anyway, at least my ally knows he doesn't have to go mass Ghouls or Tier1 units since I'll be doing it (I think he understood that he needs to make non-melee units since I'll go BLed Taurens).

Our opponents decided to get revenge and they strike my expansion while I still have a few units. But these few units proved equal, or even better than what I'd expect. As soon as the first strike was given on my expansion, I rallied all my forces. Three Taurens, a couple of shamans, a grunt, a Kodo beast and that's all. My hero quickly fell before the might of high level MK and BM, but I took the BM with me (or so I think, in the replay, it was just a MI).
(Onslaught on my expansion)

(My expansion is going down.
My ally came in for help with TONS of NECRO. Now now now, he's been thinking of counter measures, as well as support for my Tauren :). We got all FOUR HEROES of our enemies (BladeM/FarS and ArchM/MountainK). This is more than I'd ask for in exchange for my Tauren Chieftain and expansion. As soon as all of the enemy forces are destroyed, we agreed to proceed with the human encampment, with my TWO remaining taurens and with my ally's TONS of Necro.
(The Necros of doom plus two Taurens)
And the human's expansion never really offered any real resistance, we tore it down quickly. And yes, my hero is quickly revived, thanks for being it a low level. I rallied it to where the action is, and I'm churning out Taurens as well. I longed to meet the mass Shammies, and my wish was granted. But the honor wasn't mine. My ally's necro/skelly combos are more than a match.

(Shamans, can they keep up?)

I want to believe that my BLed Taurens do helped him, but there's just no major resistance anymore. Everything and anything was decimated in our rage. We proceeded to the unexplored lower left corner, and there we see the Orc's expansion. We got it with relative ease.

(bye bye expansion)

For some reason, I am thinking the Humans may have other expansions since he was never really put out of commision. Upon hammering down on the Orc's main base, I saw some human peasants, I can only guess if he has enough dough to expand.

We proceeded to decimate the Orc's main base. The mass shammies reappeared. But then again, our forces are too many for them. I am looking for the enemy heroes, I saw him made a Whirlwind attack in the midst of my ally's necro group. I don't know how many perished in that attack, and I got raged by that devastating moved. I hunted the BM down, I wanted to take revenge (lol)! I saw MK turned into a mighty Avatar, wooops. And he killed my Ally's Leve7 DL, and he even killed one of my mighty Tauren as a bonus!!!
(Darn BM, Blade storm is pesky!!!)

(MK turning into Avatar, and crazy Shamans)
It's making me really itchy to have a final stand off with the enemy's heroes.I hunted the BM like there's no tomorrow, and in one swoop, BM's gone for good.

(Your time is up, BM!)

This time, it's just my TaurenChieftain and two heroes (MK and AM). The attack is still raging in the background, but I don't care, I focused on taking revenge!!! I wanted to save everything for the two enemy heroes, and I want to kill both in one fell swoop. The chance came in, I stick it out with my Shockwave, and there goes AM, falling down with all it's glory. One more to go, and finally, my hero stood toe-to-toe with the MK. This is the moment, and with a Stomp, and with a help of my trusty Tauren, the MK gave out it's last battle cry. There's nothing left, but to say "Good game".
(Farewell AM, rest in peace.)

(Good game MK! Your life has ended!)
