"I have been frequently referred to as one of the "gayest" players ever to grace the barren lands of the Starcraft universe, though I believe that title was hefted upon me by a eternally hopeful Dagomar."

Alright, I’m back again! I finally figured out how to get a background up, as you can see, and how to get pics in as well! YAY! Anyway, since I only have MS Paint, and only idiots supergeniouses could be unable to figure out the aspects of doing pics in MS Paint. Guess who’s having problems with his BR pics in MS Paint? #@$%^$ PROGRAM!!! WHY WON’T YOU ^$#@%$ WORK YOU %$#@$%!!!

Ahem.

Excuse my insanely homicidal rage. Anyways, while I worked on the big, gosu BR with pics, decent players, and a good game that I have been forever, I got bored, so I decided to sit down and write another little two hour wonder to shock and amaze you! Heh, well maybe not…..

Anyway, this, unlike my other reports (also text onlies ^^) is not a 1v1 on Lost Temple. No indeed, it’s a 1v1v1 on Lost Temple! Aren’t you excited? Hey! Come back! Where are you… OWW! What was that for!? Ya? WELL SAME TO YOU %$#@$^!!!

Ahem.. Well, is anyone else still here? Anyone? Just one, eh? Wow, you must be a real fool if you’re still here…..

THE PLAYERS:

DECAY_

BLAZINLF[LOST]

HASUDRAGOON

I am Decay, your host. I’m not good at all, especially by ~nh standards, but I get around anyway.

Blazinlf[LOST] is a friend of mine, an all zerg player, and the loser of my last BR. That was a good day for me, however, as usually he can wipe the floor with me (just like so many other people).

HasuDragoon is a random player we chose to pubbie with. Blaze and I were going to 2v2, but he was the only one that came, so we decided to FFA. I don’t know much about him, but when questioned about his name, he replied that he was friends with Hasudrone. I feared his madd skillz.

And on with the Temple FFA!

Dragoon and Decay chose random, with Blaze choosing Zerg. Dragoon spawned a teal Hatchery on the defiled nine o’clock mesa west of the Temple, which, in turn, spawned four drones. In turn, Blaze landed a blood-red Hatchery and four probes of his own east of the Temple grounds. Decay warped a Nexus and four probes in from Aiur on the northern, twelve o’clock mesa.

Starting Build Orders:

8 Pylon
10 Gateway

14 Assimilator
16 Pylon
17 Cybernetics Core
20 Robotics Facility

9 Extractor Trick
10 Overlord
14 Hatchery (at ramp)
16 Spawning Pool
17 Overlord
19 Overlord

12 Creep Colony (near mineral line, later a Sunken Colony)
15 Hatchery (at natural expansion)
18 Overlord
19 Extractor (in main)
22 Overlord

Decay, scouting with his probe and assuming that soon Guardians would be flying overhead and Lurkers burrowing underfoot, tried for a strange strategy mix of Reavers, Corsairs, and mixed ground units. After warping in some Zealots to quell any early Zergling rushes, and his Robotics Facility, he ordered a probe away from minerals to warp in a Robotics Support Bay. Once it completed, he began a Reaver and the max Scarab upgrade. When his Reaver popped out, he placed it in a Shuttle and sent it towards the red creep of Blaze’s main Hatchery.

Meanwhile, the Zerg infestations both chose to amass Zerglings rather than tech to Lairs just yet. Blaze chose to put the Hatchery at the top of his ramp so that he could place several Sunken Colonies there later. He had one finished, two morphing, and sixteen Zerglings waiting at the top of his ramp when nearly twenty of Dragoon’s lings poured in from below. Seeing that he could not win, Dragoon retreated down the ramp, out of the Sunken’s range. Blaze lost several lings then, as they were not told to hold position, and chased them single file down the ramp. All together, Dragoon lost three Zerglings while Blaze lost eight. It was then that Blaze decided he would need bigger units, simultaneously morphing a Hydralisk Den, a Lair, and several more lings to replenish his ranks.

That whole attack was just Dragoon’s diversion, to protect his naked expansion while he morphed some Sunken Colonies. It was a big risk in an FFA, but as Decay was turtling with Zealots and teching, his expansion became operational. He also began to morph a Lair soon after, and as it completed, he built a Spire, skipping a Hydralisk Den altogether.

When Decay’s Reaver landed in Blaze’s mineral line, it destroyed several little drones before a lone ling ran up to take the fire. After it was destroyed, nearly twenty lings ran up, attacked the Reaver once, and all ran except one. Decay, leaving the Reaver to it’s own AI, blanched as his Reaver was destroyed by the rest of the lings after it fired at and killed the one that was left behind. It had done it’s job though, destroying many of Blaze’s Drones.

Decay, with his mini-success over Blaze, readied himself for a counter-attack and threw down two Stargates. Once they finished, He queued up several Corsairs, while sending a Probe to the northwest island to expand.

Dragoon completed his Spire, began six Mutalisks, and began morphing a Queens Nest. When the mutas completed, he sent them at Decay’s base, first patrolling the island and killing the Probe and Shuttle there. They proceeded east and were met by Decay’s two newly mad Corsairs, which managed to kill one Mutalisk before fleeing to the general safety of three Dragoons waiting in the mineral line. The mutas try to harass the Zealots waiting at the ramp, but two more Dragoons foil that plan, so they fly back home to regroup. Decay warps in two more Gateways and began to pump goons until he had nearly 12. Then he queued a Templar in each Gateway, having just completed his Templar Archives and researching Psionic Storm. he also warped a Forge and upgraded ground weapons.

Blaze had been slowly massing up Hydralisks after rebuilding his Drone workforce. He also researched Ventral Sacs and sent a Drone to expand to the Southeast island. When he felt the time was right, he sent his 30+ Hydralisks at Decay’s base. The Zealots at the top of the ramp took several hits before moving back and allowing the Dragoons to use the high ground to their advantage and the Templar’s Psionic Storm to massacre large groups of the Zerg beasts. Unfortunately, Decay was unable to cast any particularly effective storms and severe damage was done. After the threat had been quelled, Decay began to rebuild his now small force of units, while it was Dragoon’s turn to mass.

Game Recap

Expansions:
0

1

Units:
6 Zealots, 4 Dragoons, 4 Corsairs

12 Hydralisks, 16 Speedlings

9 Mutalisks, 30 Speedlings

As Decay was rebuilding, Dragoon saw his chance, and sent three control groups of speedlings while upgrading to Hive. Blaze also began to upgrade his Lair to Hive status. The Zealots held their ground at first, but with the damage done from the Hydralisks before, and the small number of reinforcing Dragoons, the Protoss units began to lose ground. The swarm of Zerglings just ran up the ramp and began to rip apart the base as three Dragoons warped in from the Gateways. After they were reduced to piles of blue soup, the Mutalisks flew in to mop up. Decay was effectively put out of the game. After begging Dragoon to let him observe the rest of the game, he was left with his assimilator.

Dragoon then pressed his luck by flying his Mutalisks (now 1;1) into Blaze’s base, but waw quickly driven off by the Hydralisks (also 1;1). Blaze built three Queens, and sent them on a cross country tour, casting Parasite on several ground units along the way. Both Players took time to expand, Dragoon to the empty six o’clock maze, and Blaze to Decay’s natural expansion. Both of their mains were mined out. There were several Hydra-Muta skirmishes in the middle, as a superiority battle was waged. Lings were ripped up by Lurkers, while Mutalisks flew over to massacre Hydralisks, only to meet a flank of more Hydralisks and fleeing.

When Blaze pushed his limits by sending hi Hydralisk and Lurker army to far from home, and Mutalisks ripped up the drones at the twelve o’clock natural and the 3 o’clock natural. After that, Mutalisks began to morph into Guardians, as Dragoon’s Greater Spire was spawned. While Cracklings poured out of his main, Dragoon began harassing hydralisks with the new Guardians, and the reduced army was unable to stop the advance. The twelve o’clock natural was lost, as was the northern half of Blaze’s main. He was able to produce enough Hydralisks quickly to protect the 3 o’clock natural, nearly mined out, but still his last resource node that Dragoon knew about.

Knowing that the game was nearly lost, Blaze threw up four Spore Colonies at his island expansion, and prepared a last ditch offensive while building a Spire on the island. The Hydras final upgrades kicking in, they were able to push the few leftover Cracklings and the Mutalisk horde back. He proceeded to push through the Sunkens at the nine o’clock natural, and destroy it. Dragoon tried to counter-attack with Mutas, but was foiled. But neither could Blaze break through the barrier at the ramp, and was forced to accept a stalemate for the time being.

Dragoon massed his remaining mutalisks for an attack on Blaze’s base at nine o’clock. As he flew however, he was blown away by fourteen of Blazes own mutalisks, made with the last of his gas and en route to Dragoon’s base! With the Mutalisks inside his base, and the Hydralisks cracking the defense from outside, HasuDragoon conceded the game. After using a single drone to destroy Decay’s Assimilator, Blaze became the victor.

Winner: Blazinlf[LOST]

Lessons Learned

2. No Hydralisk Den = Loss
3. Mass Guards own!
4. Scouting is very important
