The Big Friendly Newbie
This evening, I logged onto the Battle.net and entered channel nohunters as usual, but was disappointed to see it was relatively empty. After asking around if anyone wanted to 1v1, a guy called Di_parn.. finally accepts my challenge. I tell him to join my game, off we go...
Game 1
MAP: Kakaru Keys
=_Warphead_=: Purple Terran (chosen) NE Start
Di_Parn..: Red Zerg (chosen) SE Start
Straight from the beginning, I opt for a M&Ms drop. It's risky, if he's going Lurkers I'd probably get clobbered, but hey, life's about taking chances =)
I start with 8th depot, 10th gas, 2 barracks, an academy, an engineering bay, a factory and a starport. I build all the add-ons and a Tank just in case he IS going for Lurkers, but I don't research Siege. At this point, he Parasites 2 SCVs, quite a novel experience for me... of coursen while I'd been teching to Dropships, I'd been amassing M&Ms and upgrades, and by the time the 2nd Dropship pops out, I've got 12 Marines, 4 Medics who are O/1 with Stim and Range. I load 'em all up and fly south, where Comsat had found his base. I unload in range of his hydras, but these are both fewer and outclassed by my troops, despite the aid of ensnare to nullify Stim.

My Marines apply the StimPack love to Di_Parn..'s lair =)
My opponent's main falls, but before he is eliminated, I offer a rematch. He accepts, and surrenders.

The final score
Game 2
This time I let him choose the map... BIG mistake...
MAP:some lame BGH clone =(
=_Warphead_=: Green Terran (chosen) SE start
Di_Parn..: Yellow Protoss (random) S start
Straight from the start I had a bad feeling when I saw this:

Man, some lame ass BGH clone =( I shoulda quit now
Again, I teched to M&Ms with Turrets for detection. This being a BGH clone, I built LOTS of Barracks (7 or 8 can't remember). Meanwhile, a scouting SCV reported this rather unique sight:

Hmm... loads of Gateways, loads of pylons but not an unit in sight... BGH Newbie anyone =)
This map is not a true copy of BGH: there was a rock wall around each base, and this wall can have units placed on it. However, before I could spare the resources and the concentration to tech for a cliff drop, I had to secure my main: in true BGH style, my opponent was pumping out dozens of Dragoons and attacking me regularly. Marines with Stim, Medics and Tanks where sufficient to hold back the ceaseless hordes, but frankly, I've never seen so many dead Dragoons before =)
Meanwhile, my master plan reached fruitation. While a large assualt on my main was in progress, I sent a crack team of elite commandos of 6 Marines, 2 Medics and 2 Tanks in 2 Dropships to take out the enemy peon lines, which were surprisingly undefended. The distraction of the main battle distracted ol' Di, and by the time he realized what was going on, his Probes were all destroyed.
