Though the imbalance inssue rages on, gaming is little effected. This game was my best game i used lot's of micro on.
Map: Winter Conqust
Players:
Me: zerg: Top right
Terran_Randy: Terran : top middle
Sleepy_weasel: Protoss: bottom middle.
Early Game:
I started off with a usually build with 9-pool. I set up two sunkens on my cliff to intercept incoming enemies. Yet, none came to my base. I quickly expanded to my natural and put up a sunken and sent 4 zergling for defense. Quickly putting down a hydra den and Lair at the same time, i felt quite safe. My natural was running full strength, and i was researching faster overlord movement and lurker upgrade. I spawn 3 hydras just as 6 zealots came in. 2 were dispatched by the cliff sunkens, and another one by my zerglings. He did manage to get out of range of my sunkens and killed the one that was near the hatchery at my expansion. I used my hydras to attack, and run near my cliff while the sunkens hit him. After about doing this 3 times and losing a hydra I was free from protoss rule.
Mid-Game:
I thouroughly scouted both opponents and expanded to the middle northern island. On the way i saw a lone tank coming to my base. I followed with my overlord and saw a rotund force of M&m&f's with 2 tanks. I quickly morphed 2 lurkers and burrowed them in front of my sunkens. Meanwhile i loaded four hydras into an overlord. When he pussed the attack, my lurkers did little more than annoy his units. I did mangage to drop the 4 hydras next to the tanks, killing one and severly injuring the other. He pushed onward. I sent my 12 + hydras at him as soon as he unseiged his tank. The white snow then turned an eriee red color. fearing more attacks. I put down an evoulution chamber, a spire, and another 2 sunkers. I built two more lurkers and loaded 12 hydras into overlords. I dropped Weasel's probe line and killed a few before zealots came in and wiped me out. Nothing happened for quite a bit, so i tried to drop Terran. He was ready for me and i lost 3 hydras before retreating. He counter dropped several times but to no avail. My units were now 2/2 and the 9 mutas i spawned were 1/0. I hit and run the protoss base until the point were he sent almost all his defense to attack me.
Late Game:
I burrowed two lurkers at my choke outside my base, and loaded 16 hydras and 9 mutas. I sent them right outside the back of Weasel's base. By that time his zealots and goons were walking over my lurkers. I think he forgot detectors because my lurkers were taking down the neatly lined up zealot's shields. Any thing that came through was cut downed by my 24 hydras. He killed my lurkers but his forces were doomed. Mid way through the battle i dropped my forces in the back of his base. Encountering no resistance other than 4 cannons his base was terminated. But he was gonna play hunt the pylon with me. Terran has not been idle during this time. He sent another drop at me. This time consisting M&M&F's with 4 tanks. After i killed his troops and hesitateing to kill the medics(which i finally did). Terran left. With my mutas i found Weasel's pylons and he Disconnected on me.
Lessons Learned:
1. Lurkers in unusual places surprise enemy attack forces.
2. High ground sunkens rock any ground units.
3. Defend every side of your base with something...even zerglings if you have to.
4. Drop only if you know you'll do enough damage to be cost effective.
5. I need to learn to take pics.
Thank you, come again. |
