The Story of a man: Part 2
*Warning*: Pictures big blah bleh... 56k
modem blah blih bleh... fucked up the ass... blah bleh
blih bleh... blah bleh go pick strawberries...
After pathetically attempting to make a good
report on me getting raped, I'm back. This time, the game
is better and longer. Part 1 was only really meant to
introduce people to this... but hey... who needs an
intro? Anyways, as some of you already know, I lost badly
in the 1st round. For some reason I had picked Zerg even
though it's my worst race. I used to report with my old
piece of junk computer, which made it hard. It had
several masters, who all died of old age. Passed down
from generation to generation, it had come to me. But I'm
getting myself rid of it now, feed it to the dog perhaps?
Now that I've got myself this brand new smokin' piece of
technology, I won't have to wait when I copy paste :P.
On with the report...
You might have a "loading" message
showing up between plays... oh well.
It took me a while to recover from that
first loss, but now I would use the one and only
Terran... and show people that Inforcer means business.
Bow down! Please?
Once again I asked the fellow HnR) bot for second round
info. It told me the map was Vertigo... but hey... I just
played on Vertigo. Apparently there had been a mess up.
The first round map was Silent Vortex, not Vertigo. Being
more comfortable with Silent Vortex, I asked my opponent,
PoweR (usually takes a period at the end but I won't
include them, they might confuse some people. You know.
Adding. some. periods all over. the place. like this
could be. hard. to read) if it was okay for him to play
Silent Vortex again. He agreed, and the game was set.

*Some
information might be slightly innacurate.
The map
Silent
Vortex, for you who don't know much about it, is a four
player map with twin islands in the middle. The start
locations are elevated and the naturals on lower land.
Another cliff leads to a ice-covered lake, where most of
the battles usually occur.
I of course, had picked Terran, I was planning to win
this time. I had landed a red Command Center at the
bottom left position while PoweR had a teal Nexus at the
top left position. My plan was to go for a
Tank/Mine/Turret push. An early scout revealed to me that
he was going for double Gateway Dragoons. If he would
keep that up, my plan would work out fine. PoweR too,
sent out a scout, who gave away the info on my Factories.
A Vulture quickly took care of it. No offensive moves
were made so far, so I sent out a trio of Vultures to
mine the entrance to his base. To my surprise there were
only a few Dragoons to guard the cliff. Looks like he had
been spending his money on something else. Shuttles?
Expansion? Sex & beer? A scan reveals a Robotics
Facility, but no Support Bay. If he would be Reaver
Dropping, he would have a Support Bay by now.
Having no
energy left to scan, I send out a few Vultures to check
out the expansion spots. Sure enough, there was an
expansion at the top right location. My Vultures are all
sent in and they start chewing up the buildings. PoweR
would love to send in support, but my pesky mines block
the way. He quickly got an Observer and cleared up the
path to his expansion. My Vultures were no match for the
Dragoons, but they still took out numerous miners.
Now I know
he can't cause much damage, so I expand to my mineral
only myself. I have few tank at hand, PoweR's Dragoons
won't be dangerous for now.
So far things are going well, he has
Dragoons, I have Tanks and Vultures; a perfect counter.
The only problem is that he is ahead in gas and mineral.
So I decide to expand, again. Two dropships are sent out,
a pair of Tanks and four SCV's are the cargo. I siege the
tanks at the cliff and put down a wall. I also order an
SCV to build a Command Center at the minerals (duh).
PoweR is
also teching ahead. A scan reveals an Observatory,
Templar Archives and three Forges, all upgrading. I often
saw little blurry spots around my base, he had been
watching me. So I decided that it was time to take out
those Cloaked bastards. Turrets were built, and Observers popped
out of the sky like mosquitoes smashing into the
windshield of a Canadian Tire™ truck. When I
watched the replay, I saw something interesting. I had
just happened to be watching an Observer with a Turret
building beside it. It looks like PoweR did the same
thing. As soon as the Turret was finished, he microed the
Observer onto the Turret! Amazingly, the Turret stopped
firing. As my dad always says: You learn somethin' new
every day eh! Now I was really pissed off, that
Observer's destiny was to die to my orders. I built
another Turret close to it and watched it die in
satisfaction.
At this
point in the game, both players have scary ground ground
forces. Knowing that my Tanks will do better in siege
mode, I send them out on the battlefield and order them
to siege. At the same time, I order an SCV to start a
Command Center on the top most central island.
PoweR has Observers spread out across the
map and his army is positioned in between both central
islands. This proves to be a good technique as he can
move his army wherever he wants very quickly and
efficiently.
If things could stay this way, I would
probably win. PoweR knows this as well. An Observer spots
my bottom right expansion, PoweR knows it is crucial to
my economy, so he decides to take care of it. A head-on
attack would be successful but he would lose many units
to my siege tanks. Instead he opts for a four Dragoon
drop. The Goons are dopped in my mineral line and I am
forced to lift off. I try to fight off the Dragoons with
my SCVs, but the Protoss have upgraded shield, armor and
weapons.
For you retards who actually read my
strategy report, there was a nice section on EMP. The
entire thing is engraved in my mind, and I planned to use
it. A Science Facility was constructed, and I ordered the
nerds in it to start researching EMP technology. I then decide to
take my natural. I also add a few factories to add to my
production. At that same time, PoweR finds my central
expansion and destroys it, he then takes it for himself.
All my extra military units are then sent into enemy
territory. Six Tanks, eight Vutlures and a Science Vessel
make their way toward the enemy. Sadly, PoweR had an
Observer watching me. His entire army performs a flanking
motion and my poor army is torn to piece. My Science
Vessel just has time to EMP part of the enemy force
before it is turned to burning rubbish.
PoweR now knows he has military advantage.
He decides to take out the expansion I had just finished
rebuilding. All of his warriors, mostly Zealots and
Dragoons, are sent out to my bottom right expansion.
His main was far away from backup, so it was
time to hit hard. I load up 10 Tanks in Dropships,
destination: Protoss Main. I also send a Science Vessel
for EMP. A clearing bellow his base is my landing spot.
His Gateways are exposed, they will make perfect targets.
I also have higher ground advantage for when the Protoss
come to the rescue. When the backup arrived, there was
already considerable damage done to the structures. My
Tanks took out countless Zealots and Dragoons alike.
Unfortunately, PoweR's army would prove to be bigger and
tougher than I thought. My Tanks are destroyed in a
matter of seconds as sheer Zealots pour in. PoweR was winning
before this attack, now the game was very close. He still
had a better economy. As I scanned both central islands,
I saw a pair of Stargates. It seemed that he had plans of
going air. I could not allow this, as my primary force
consisted of Vultures and Tanks. I start producing
Goliaths out of most of my Factories. I then load up
Tanks and Vultures in my remaining Dropships. Now all I
can do is hope PoweR hasn't had the time to make air
units.
This is the point in the game where every
move is crucial. The slightest mistake from either player
could result in a loss. If I gave PoweR the time to built
an air force, things could go very bad for me. Now back
to those Dropships...
I unload the cargo behind the mineral line
and my Vultures sweep through, laying mines and taking
out several miners. My Tanks are sieged and start
pounding on the Stargates, I'll leave the Nexus for now,
I can't let PoweR keep the Gates. The small Protoss
resistance is crushed under Tank fire. Apparently he
won't try stopping me, I have high ground.
Now that I took care of the Stargates, the
threat of an air attack is gone. I scan the map once
again, and sadly, I see three Stargates at the top right
base. They were all lit up and building. I figured the
best thing to do would be to use that same army I just
dropped to rape those Stargates. I load em' up and off
they go. Unfortunately for me, PoweR was waiting for the
drop. As soon as the Tanks and Vultures started
unloading, Zealots came in from the cliff entrance. Mines
are layed, but an Observer revealed them to the Zealots. My warrior fought
bravely, but the Zealot/Dragoon/Observer combo was too
much for them. I even lose half of my Dropships in the
process.
The last thing I saw was the light on the
Stargates turn off... but no air units were built. PoweR
had cancelled them. An Observer had spotted my numerous
Goliaths. Now he was coming for me with Zealots! CrAp!
At that same moment, I realize two of my
three expansions are dry. So I expand at the bottom right
natural. A few scans around my base show that PoweR is
about to attack. He has me surrounded and will come from
multiple directions. My Goliaths won't stand a chance
against the Zealots, but the mines and Tanks might be a
bit more useful. The problem is, I don't have that many
Tanks or Mines. It looks like I'll have to nail a few
good EMP strikes. To make it harder for the enemy to see
what I am doing I get rid of as many Observers as I can.
I find several and they are quickly dealt with. Finally,
I position my Science Vessels so that I can strike easily
with EMP.
The Zealots came first, they took out
Vultures and Goliaths while the Dragoons took out the
Mines. Units on both sides were dwindling, and it was
only till the end that I could determine the winner.
Luckily I was able to land two very good EMPs. This wiped
out all shields, thus giving me an advantage.
In the end, both armies were decimated,
except for six Tanks who each got a nice kill count. I
immediatly sent them out, hoping to get PoweR off guard.
It worked, but he got Speedlots shortly after my Tanks
arrived at his base. He showed nice micro by dividing his
Zealots into groups to avoid splash damage. In the end,
his Zealots were victorious, but not for long. Vultures
sped in and layed mines all over the place. The remaining
Protoss force was destroyed, and soon his base would meet
the same end. I razed the main base, but the top right
expansion still remained. To my surprise, it seemed that
I had defeated him. He waved goodbye, along with a
"gg" (grumpy gayass?).
It took me
an entire half hour to defeat him, it seemed longer than
that. I was happy to still be in the tourney. The gods
asked me to pick Terran this time, and they chose wisely.
PoweR was a good opponent and I would like to thank him
for playing, and of course, for being born. PoweR isn't a
girl, well, maybe he/she is, I don't know.
The
scoreboard indicated a close game, as you can see.
A few
lessons were learned;
-Small
things such as a few EMPs can change the tide in a
battle.
-Keeping an eye on the opponent is always a good thing to
do. PoweR demonstrated this when he flanked my army.
-Always have reserve armies, PoweR lost because he failed
to do this.
-Always try to counter as quickly as possible, this can
bring a victory when you least expect it.
I might
report game three, it'll all depend on what the gods say.
Not. I would like to thank IcE-Dark_Lord for his crappy
spellcheck. Once again, give him shit for the mistakes.
Thanks to Dagomar for being the only active rater (where
the hell is CHJ?). And finally, Mark4 and for maintaining
the site. I g2g now, my mom is giving me shit. Funny
thing is, she doesn't see the irony in calling me a
son-of-a-bitch.
