The Last Alliance: A surprising friend

A surprising Friend

This is my very first FanFic. It took me a week to write and alot of my friends liked it so I hope you people do too. Enjoy...

Of all lands that ever were and all solar systems there ever was with all Galaxies that have been and all Universes there are to be, Kirlmalda. It is a land of no remorse of no pity and yet of such beauty that none could ever scorn its surface. The ten Gods of this land would forbid it with all might that has never been seen with living eyes. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Magic, Power, Wisdom, Fatality, Being, and to rule them all in their duty to watch, guide and aid all lesser beings. The Overlord. The Overlord being the superior of the Gods, led them to create a world unlike any have seen ever before. They had accomplished it. The God of Being gave life to the land. Fatality set all of life’s limits with few exceptions. Kirlmalda was kingdom to many creatures from Gnome to Dwarf to Human to Elf to Dragon and so on. At first most of each race lived apart from one another, afraid of any who dared trespass on their part of the country. Humanity, being the model for life, took for themselves most of the territory west of the Great Ocean. They organized and divided into 4 different nations.  The North, South, East, and West. The other races were furiously trying to uphold their territory against the humans and there advances upon the land. Futile, alone and separated each individual race was many times inferior to the cunning of humans.  Some decided to ally the humans and be part of there society. Most fled to the extremities of the land of Kirlmalda.  And so was established human rule over all!

-They shall thank us for our sacrifices here this day.
-Who will milord??? What sacrifices???
-Our descendants will. Sacrificing our lives, our well-being, our hopes and dreams and all we hold dear. Ah, sergeant Perdil, you never did think of how much you give for your people, do you???
-No I suppose I don’t.
-Humanity, how would you describe them???
-Well, there very intelligent, cunning, but almost abusive milord.
Exactly, we elves cannot survive these mountains we’ve been driven to by our own cousins, its betrayal.  These constant onslaughts by Trolls and those damn Orcs... yes... the Orcs... He said with a twitch of pain in his eye, we must gather our people and the mighty Dwarves, to a safer place. Valg, call in Tabour and let us be.

At that very moment, Tabour walked in the room, like he had been listening in on the private conversation.
Lord Valg, my Dwarves can’t take this slaughtering any longer. We must retreat now! -All is prepared Tabour, we leave as soon as the rear guard can be readied.
-Aye, let's be on our way. It’s a ways, back to safer grounds. But the humans aren’t going to let us just walk up to their northern city of Salvon and throw us a welcome home party. It used to be my northern city, not as grand but a good home it was for my people.
-Yes, quite, listen well, for the Elves have been planning for a very, very long time de demise of the Human Alliance.
-You're insane, Valg, you’ve gone mad, berserk in the head; you’ve got you helmet on too tight!!! My dwarves will revolt and murder you in your sleep if you think that again!!!
-Come yourself Tabour, you’ve only heard the beginning. First we shall retreat from this horrid place and move south, I’ve friends in high places that can help us in quietly overthrowing the Alliance. Come now, think of our children. Do you want them to grow in fear of an axe in the head sleeping!?! No!!! I doubt you do!!!
-Your son was a great loss to all of Valg, but that shouldn’t affect your thinking of your people.
Valg continued without acknowledging the response of his lost son.
-The Alliance is stronger than us both, they have been greedy, eaten and spoiled all the land with their touch. They think us lesser then them. It’s a lie.  We are better then them, we uphold the land, keep peace, and waste nothing. They are the complete opposite of us both. We must fight back!!!
-I still think you completely mad but you prove great point. Ready yourself, we leave within the hour.

March!!! Tabour screamed louder than anyone would have expected for someone of his height. Right away the dwarves jumped into action with packs on their backs, moved quickly through the Frost Forest.
-I’ve sent elven scouts on ahead, they’ll report back within the hour. Perdil is with them. He’s was a good man, your son I mean. I think every body feels for him.
-Thank you Tabour, Valg said holding back a very deep lake of tears. He was a good man.

Frolor, son of Valg, was the only heir to the throne of the elven people, he had wanted to go with the scouting party and learn their ways. The scouting party never came back to camp. Three search parties were sent, 6 more men never came back and 2 were badly hurt. It was disastrous to Valg, his only son killed by some monster from the woods and probably eaten by wolves. Valg knew he was going insane, he knew he would die from insanity, he wished it would come sooner and put him out of his misery so he could be with his son. But his people needed him to pull trough for now.

On the fifth day of hard marching without incident, the scouts all ran as fast as their legs could cary them back to the Valg.

-Milord, Perdil managed while running; we’ve found something you need to see. -How much farter ahead??? He replied calmly.
-Half a mile I think, it’s hard to tell at the speed we were running.
-Very well, Valg chose ten of his personal guards and was guided by the scouts. They had arrived at a small clearing with a small pond to the west.

What Valg saw then made him drop to his knees. His son. Time stopped. Nothing moved, no sound. His son. What was left of Frolor’s head on the top of a pike. His body was nowhere to be found. Valg, still on his knees, watched horrified at the others beside his son. All on pikes the same as Frolor. And all came back into view. Time resumed. But this time it was quieter than usual except for the heavy panting of his men. He stood to his full oppressive height.
-Why are you all panting like dogs?
Then he realized the how stupid the question had been when he saw a party of trolls dead on the ground. He must have been hit so hard by the discovery of his son’s head that he didn’t hear the attack and the brave war cries of his guards fighting. -How many are there???
-20 sir. Replied Perdil who was slashed across the nose.
-How many did we lose???
-Two sir.
-Two??? We were outnumbered 2 to 1!
-The sight we saw inspired us milord. We had to protect you, you were on your knees mumbling: why? over and over.
-Well done. Let's get back to Tabour, and do you see that arm bone???
-Yes sir I do.
-Bring it, I think Dretr would like that back.

When they got back, Valg immediately called Dretr.
-Yes milord, what do you wish???
-Well, Dretr you were with that search party I sent yes???
-Yes, I was. You know that. That’s how I lost My arm, Fighting a Troll.  It took my arm in one swing of that damn axe, I was so mad at it that I threw my sword at it. Got it in the chest, but I was knocked unconscious right after. I don’t know if it died. I took the axe when regained consciousness. Still got it too.
-Quite a story, I’ve a present for you.
Valg gave him his arm back, the bone was clean; no doubt a wolf had eaten the raw meat. Dretr stared in amazement. Petrified yet intrigued by his own arm. He gently took it from Valg and whispered a promise: By my sole do I swear to kill that which has taken my arm or die trying.
-Thank you Valg.

The next few days were much the same as the others. Until the Thirteenth day when the rear guard yelled for enemy blood. Cries went unheard Elves fired bows and line in formation of rank upon rank of swordsmen. Dwarves went wild with the chance of a good fight. The attack was right behind them, when everybody heard loud and clear a horn. So pure was the sound and calming, it was thought magic by the onlookers of who had blown it. It was an Elf sitting upon the largest dragon anyone had seen for many ages. It was a dragon of legend; coloured head of blue with a red chest and green tail, all colours flowed into one another so perfectly it was as if it was one. The Elf was tall, slim with strong elven features. Blue, green eyes with blond hair fit him well with a black leather tunic, bow across his soldiers and a sword at his side. All stopped, noises were shushed but swords raised. The young Elf hopped off the monstrous dragon and stood by it’s side for a moment. After a few seconds of consideration, he took one step forward; the army took one step back. Then he burst out laughing in a fit.
-My, my, let’s not kill my friend and me here. I just came for a good look at what you were doing moving so many people at once and armed to the teeth at that.
-Pardon our caution with our people master.
-My name is Teal Whiteraven.
-Thank you master Whiteraven.
-Teal will do just fine, thank you.
-Of course, Teal. I am the Dwarf leader Tabour Fitle and this is King Valg Lore, leader of the Elves, Valg finished.
Most of the men still had their weapons in the air looking at the dragon. Teal realised this and butted in:
-Don't worry about Orca, he’s probably more afraid of you than you are of him and started laughing again.
Immediately after the dragon let out a puff of back smoke from his nostrils and revealed his long sharp teeth in response that it was afraid. Men stepped back five paces. Teal laughed even harder, until Valg interrupted him:
-How did you tame such a beast???
-Well, when I was very young I was walking in this very forest when a lone Troll attacked me. His mother saved me by killing the vile thing, we became friends. Orca was just born and I was so small she took me for a second son. She was an old Dragon and was in her last 50 years of life. But one day a party of Ocrs shortened it. They killed her and left Orca for dead. I rescued Orca, so he and I grew up together. But that was over 70 years ago. Ancient history. Best friends in their prime of life looking for adventure. Seems we found it.
-Well, seems you did, friend. Join us for supper we shall throw a great banquet tonight. It’s a full moon; they’ll be plenty of light. Except your friend, we couldn’t feed him if we tried.
-Don’t worry about Orca, he’s been eating our good friends the trolls and orcs. We’ve been tracking you secretly for days figuring what to make of you people.

That night, spirits soared with renewed hopes and cheers and they toasted their new friend. After the party, Valg, Tabour and Teal had a meeting.
-Well... started Teal, you’ve got big plans for the Alliance I hear.
-Yes, we do, we’re tired of being locked up so far north in the mountains, replied Valg.
-Yes!!! Orca and I are sick of sleeping with one eye open at night. We must take back what is rightfully ours. I say we fight.
-No, no you young fool. Think rationally, we can overthrow them very quietly and without showing a fang or tooth.
-So I see you’ve got this planned. How??? I’ve got a friend in the Great Palace of Waterkeep; he is the king.

At first light, all was packed and readied to make an early start, for they would be exiting the Frost Forest this day. When they heard a war horn all too familiar. The war horn of the Trolls. They have come, whispered Valg while unsheathing his sharp blade that looked a dull blue. Without delay bows were fired and lances thrown. At least 4 score of the enemy died in the first attack. Instantaneously Orca leaped into the air with 3 flaps of her great wings in front of the advance of the trolls, some of the trolls seemed to remember him and ran, the rest burned. Unlike most dragons who shot red flame, Orca shot a bright blue raging fire. Even the Elves and Dwarves were surprised by this. Teal shot into action, unsheathed his sword and ran into the fray. For Dretr all focused on the one face he saw in front of him. The ugly troll that had taken his arm the troll recognised it was him and pointed to an ugly vertical scar in the middle of his chest. They both smiled and charged at each other. A fast lunge from the troll made him dodge to the right but gave him the opportunity to slash his back. The troll screamed for vengeance. It got up and they locked weapons, sword on battleaxe. It flung its sword in the air and stabbed him in his right shoulder. -Trying to get the other one aye!!! Never!!!
He leaped aside and grabbed what was left of his arm, the bone. With renewed power and confidence he raced at the troll and beat it on the head in four quick strikes. Dizzied and confused by being hit on the head by the Elf’s own arm, it fell flat on its back. Dretr didn’t stop, he beat it into unconsciousness and beat it until it had a clearly visible hole in it’s skull. He kept thrashing it after it died. Teal was slowly being overwhelmed by hoards of trolls circled him. Orca, seeing his predicament flew low, scorching the attackers and landed beside Teal. Teal jumped upon him like he’d done so many times and flew gracefully away from the danger. Valg fought and fought with such hatred of these monstrosities he swore he would kill them all. Eighteen died before his sword and dagger, but he was tiring fast. Teal pointed to Orca the tiring Elf and told him to pick him up. With a great swoop downward Orca Grabbed Valg in his Talons and kept on flying. Valg passed out when he realised he was in a dragon’s grip so they dropped him a safe distance off to rest.

They returned to the battle to find that it was almost over; bodies ling everywhere in disarray, the ground was a small pond of blood. They landed, and a Troll surprised Teal by grabbing his leg and throwing him off. Orca acted slowly as if uninterested then turned to face the troll, it panicked, dropped its club and started running in the opposite direction. The dragon reached out with it’s wings and wrapped them slowly about the fleeing troll, it screamed like a lost child, until their was a sickening crunch from its bones shattering.
-Well, aren’t we relaxed in the middle of a war, Teal said but failed at trying to be serious and laughed. Common, let's go see if all is well.

When the attackers fled Orca gave chase and returned looking to be a fragment bigger in the waist. The elves suffered a great many loses, 9 score and 7. The dwarves had lost 7 score and 3 but they counted one hundred and fifty six trolls bodies plus the ashes of some and the ones that Orca had eaten. Valg had returned unhindered from his rest and aided the injured, when he called Teal over.

To be continued...

I hope you guys liked it! If you do, I'll write the next chapter: The legacy of Teal Whiteraven. It'll be better I swear.
To explain a few things:
-Sorry about the spelling mistakes, if there are any, it's all IcE-Inforcer's fault, bitch at him not at me.
-1 score = 20 people meaning:
-5 score and 3 = 103 people.  Get it!?!

Thanks!
