| 2v2 Lost Temple newbie battle *text only* | | | Author: | | | IP: | h24-65-2XXXX | | Date: | 04/27/02 06:04 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 6, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for Zorgb0t!: 6.0000 | | Since a few of you peeps were complaining before how I didn’t have any images in my last report due to the fact that I didn’t exactly have a lot of time to write up the report and I was really bored in class (long sentence), it would have taken me a whole lot longer to write up a decent report. So instead of another writing another one and just taking my make of 6 on my last report, I thought hell why not try and go for the gold and get a 8.
I took a lot of the information what you guys gave me and took it to heart. I liked the comments I got on my last battle reports, regardless if it was really shabby due to spelling/grammar errors. Of course, with that in mind I took the liberty of getting a spelling and grammar check installed on my comp so I would be able to look for any errors that I might have missed while proof reading.
After playing 10 games on Battle.net I was starting to get use to the game again. Of course losing 7 out of 10 times isn't exactly note worthy information to give to the general public. But like in all cultures public humiliation comes from different sides. If any one is going to make an ass of me, I'd rather it be me, seeing as I can be sure to tell the truth *cough* and hopefully bring out the best generalization of my character. With that being said, that is why I like the First Person type of report.
Recently all I have been doing is working my tail off to finish a website I am getting big bucks for and playing Starcraft whenever possible. I know I should be working on the website, but if your like me, you'll know just how tiring it is to concentrate on one thing at a time and then move on to something else.
2v2 Lost Temple seems to be the most popular choice in terms of team play, and for me, it means good times, since it's a well known map that a lot of other people got market like the back of their hand. Judging by the amount of loses that I have accumulated with my new account, it would seem that I am not qualified to play a real match. But of course sometimes, once in a while it feels to good to win, even if the battle includes newbies.
Having been a mindless drone myself, I fall quickly to the simple tactics of complete and utter destruction. What can I say, I am a sucker for mass units. That's why this battle I had was really great, well for me any way. While some of you people might frown at me, when I tell you I didn't do most of the work, I can say I had a good part in the beginning of the battle.
It starts out as I join a 2v2 Lost Temple game. People aren't talking, or communicating very much. The game is full finally, and we are begging for battle as the timer goes from 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and finally into the game we go.
The positioning is sort of cool for the beginning. Instead of being placed next to my partner he's on the opposite side of the map. I start out at 12 o'clock with Protoss and my partner (we'll just call him buddy for now) starts out at 6 o'clock with Terran, while Bevise and Butthead at in the other sides of the base at 3 o'clock with Zerg and 9 o'clock for Protoss.
(SideStory: During the intermission of myself writings this report I went to go get supper which consisted of extremely charcole burnt hamburgers giving you that ashtray after taste. My brother went to open a can of orange pop, and then out of no where, it comes out with a ton of pressure and starts spraying the walls and the floor. I almost got sprayed, but thanks to my catlike reflexes I was able to dash away from being creamed and come back to writings this report, orange pop free.)
I begin by starting out with 1 pylon close to my base and sending a probe on it's way to go searching. I keep making probes and find one of my opponents at 3 o'clock By finding him fast, I quickly learn he is attempting to make a early expansion next to his base by making a hatchery close to the minerals (obviously :/...). I chastise his drone and cause it to fallow me around and move on to my other opponents base at 9 o'clock
My protoss opponent gets a bright idea that by trying to build cannons in front of my base he'll get the upper hand. I notice a bit late, but with a pack of 3 zealots I quickly take out 2 cannons and my opponent cancel one of the cannons that was in progress. I leave 1 zealot by to take out the pylon and move on to making more zealots. I quickly made my expansion and make 2 more gateways along with a cybernetics core (instead of cybernetix core like my last report said, thanks for the heads up). I continually pumped out zealots until I had 10 and moved to attack the 3 o'clock
Instead of going for my opponents main expansion I decide it would probably be best to try and move in to his main base and take that out instead. My partner comes in with a 12 pack of Marines with stimpack. At this point Buddy's got a factory and 3 Starports on the roll. He's probably doing this because my probe revealed that he in fact had 2 robotics facility's going, which could only mean one thing. Reaver Rape. With Wraiths it would be easy to target shuttles to take out reavers easily while I continue to make massive zealots and dragoons. So a large part of the battle falls onto my partner because he took the enecietive while I was lazy and didn't bother teching up.
So any way, I move into the 3 o'clock base and we are confronted by a small army of zerglings and a few Sunken Collonies. They are easily destroyed and taken over. The problem with my opponents zerg base was that he could have easily diverted this kind of thing by putting sunken collonies close to his ramp. Unfortunately this prove disastrous, as he tried to move his drones from his base as each one fell victim to Buddy's marine bullet spray. We went after the expansion after, but quickly found that our opponent had made a ton more sunken colony's during the rampage.
We move out of the base and out of harms way from the colony's I moved my zealots roughly around the middle of the map, and started pumping out dragoons and more zealots, as they were coming out. I grouped my units together, and went for another attack this time I was hoping to finish the job.
I moved in with my zealots and dragoons. There were 8 sunken colony's lines up next to his expansion, as I grouped my units and ordered them to attack his sunken colony one at a time hoping that it would reduce the amount of damage done to me. My first attack was a success. I lost half of my units, but I was able to take out the expansion.
Buddy had his Wraiths on the way and I wanted to bent total destruction on the 9 oclock base. Up until now, buddy didn't do a whole in terms of damage. Instead for the most part he made a defense in his base, while our zerg opponent managed to survive by building a hatchery in our opponent protoss's base. Of course we weren't going to let that stand for long. At this point we had a large amount of units. He kept making marine's and sent them with me. We moved up the ramp with my zealots and dragoons after forcing our zerg opponent to leave when he saw our legion of units attacking his only chance at staying in the game.
Moving up the ramp, we came confronted with dragoons and reavers. I pulled off the bright idea by moving my units in, instead of backing out, and lost more then I had bargained for. I quickly started making a shuttle and 2 reavers along with upgrading my zealots leg enhancement with the Citadel of Adun I made previously. I made another expansion this time close to the 3 o'clock base where the 6 minerals lay open for the taking.
I made a massive amount of zealots and dragoons and then took my reavers into the shuttle and moved it to buddy's base. I then moved the shuttle up to where our zealot opponent was gathering minerals and completely decimated his group of probes, and got out of there quickly..
By this point he was trapped, but had a shuttle and some money left over to park his expansion to the top left island. There he managed to make several cannons around his base and start gathering minerals as quickly as possible. I moved all my units in for the taking roughly 50 of them and moved my reavers in the back to attack his reavers on the far back of his base. The attack was okay, but I didn't do hardly a dent to his reavers by only taking out one and losing more at that. I lost 2/3 of my army to the reavers and a mix of cannons and retreated. But then to my surprise buddy came through with a 9 pack of BATTLE CRUISERS and totally decimated his base.
By this point, our opponent knew it was over and said his good bye's and left the game.
While this battle wasn't exactly a grand accomplishment I did enjoy it. Sometimes however when you win a game, you get this feeling of not being satisfied and feeling like the battle was way to easy, or hardly challenging. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with some of the more harder players on ladder and elsewhere on battle.net in the near future.
Thanks for reading my battle report. |
