Kane stepped forward then turned and faced the others. He smiled slightly then motioned for them to continue.
The light emanating from the underground village was a welcome sign from the dreary dark tunnel they came from. The village itself was rather small and primitive, houses were made from mud and clay, they drew water from a well in the middle of the village, and they got their food from a field of very odd looking plants.
"This has been the home for MAXIM's spawn for many generations." Kane said as they reached the edge of the village.
Giant crags in the ground impeaded their progress, but despite that they made it to what appeared to be the main building fairly quickly. Kane lead the way as they entered the building and were greated by a single man dressed in a lab coat and thick bifocals.
"Joo 'ave come to meet zee elder, no?" The man said, the inside of the house itself contradicted his scientist like apparel as not a single appliance or machine of any sort could be seen.
The man led them through two peices of cloth draped over an opening, perhaps to serve as a door. Inside the next room was decorated with candles and and very artistic pots and vases. Near the back of the room sat a single man dressed in the same lab coat and bifocals the others wore, sitting in a very ornate chair.
He slowly rose to his feet and walked over to the four. He looked just like MAXIM's other spawn...but something was very noticably different.
"You have come seeking answers...am I correct?" The man said without the accent all the others seemed to share.
"Yes...I dont know where to begin though..." Kelvena said trying to sort through her thoughts.
"Then I will tell you our story starting with James and MAXIM..." He began, the one that led the four in politely left before the elder continued. "James and MAXIM were both created by the zionites...a very proud race of people who were so puffed up with pride that they believed killing the people inhabiting this world was shameful, so they created weapons to do the job for them."
"But...why?" Kelvena said confused.
"I do not know...perhaps to control this resource rich planet...but something deep inside me tells me there is an alterior motive."
"I see...so what does this have to do with James and MAXIM?" Kelvena asked.
"James was created for that sole purpose...created in two parts, himself and Vendetta. James would pilot Vendetta and he would go on a rampage on the inhabitants of this planet. But Vendetta was created without a functioning control chip, and thus when James would pilot the Vendetta, he would lose all self control. This was not a problem for the Zionites at first...but they soon realized that they would not be able to get James out of the Vendetta without severely injuring themselves. That is why MAXIM was created." The elder paused before continuing. "MAXIM had two jobs actually...he was first created on the surface to serve as a means to be able to extract James from the Vendetta, but then the Vendetta was stolen by two unknown warriors who were finally identified as Kane and Reiwen."
"Interesting, so how does this coincide with MAXIM?" Xaniir asked, starting to put the peices together.
"The Zionites feared that without the other half of James being, he would suffer a loss of identity, and be proven ineffective to the Zionites. They realized that the only possible answer was to create a sort of fatherly AI in MAXIMs console, this AI would serve to have MAXIM act as a father over James and nuture him until Vendetta could be found. This was the Zionites biggest mistake." Once again, the elder paused before continuing. "You see, MAXIMs fatherly AI grew so strong that it soon dominated his every thought. He soon realized James was but a tool for the Zionites and that if he bowed to the will of the Zionites, James woudl turn to a cold blooded killer...this contradicted MAXIMs AI. Because of this contradiction, MAXIM was able to develop his very own thought process, and right then he developed a very intricate plan involving himself, James, us, Kane, and Reiwen."
Kane let out a small smile as he heard the elder speak. The others could only listen as all this information seemed to flood their mind.
"MAXIM realized the best possible life for his son could only be achieved if the Zionites were destroyed...but he lacked the power to destroy them. He decided instead of he, himself, attacking the Zionites, it would be his son and the resurected Kane and Reiwen to lead the free world against the Zionites. So for one thousand years he trained his son in secret to be able to be able to maintain his own thought process while piloting the mighty Vendetta. He realized that when that thousand years was up, the Zionites would have realized what he was doing, and the terran clones he was given will turn against him and he would be forced to sacrifice himself." The elder continued.
"Terran clones...?" Kelvena asked confused.
"Yes, a force of genetically created terrans to serve under MAXIM, but they were nothing but slaves to the Zionites." The elder said before returning to his story. "Well...MAXIM realized that if he was destroyed, he would have no way to guide the maturing James and Kane and Reiwen would no longer have a sanctuary from the Zionites...thus we were created."
The elder paused and slowly limped over to a group of candles surrounding a tome. He slowly started flipping through the pages of the tome until finally stopping near the back.
"Yes...our very own instructions are outlined here...As MAXIM's spawn, we are to serve as a sanctuary and to defend the three until they are fully awakened. As you can see Kane has already been fully awakened, James is growing close, and the most powerful of the three has yet to discover herself." The elder said, staring directly at Kelvena.
"Am I that third one...?" Kelvena said, nervous from the elders hard stare.
"Perhaps, but neither an identity crisis nor your own death will keep Reiwen from resurecting. All that remains is to regain Reiwens past memories." The elder said still giving Kelvena that hard stare.
"How...how can I gain her past memories?" Kelvena asked quietly.
"Only Reiwen can answer that for you. You must return to her tomb, you will know what to do." The elder paused before continuing. "But for now, you must rest."
"What will we do about James?" Xaniir asked showing genuine concern for his friend.
"We have done all in our power to teach James, he must decide for himself whether he wants to be a cold blooded murderer or to free this world from the Zionites plague." The elder said before finally retiring to his chair.
The four silently left, with Zeltior leaving last. A couple of MAXIMs spawn led them to their separate houses to retire for the night.

James ran for what seemed like eons, he was in a pure daze. His injured leg started burning excruciatingly bad causing James to finally sit down in the darkness.
He quickly tore open the leg of his pants to reveal a crudely bandaged laceration, he soon realized that one of the others had treated his leg while he was unconscious...probably Kelvena. He pulled a flare from his back pocket and quickly lit it to get a better look at his leg, but what he saw immediatly took his mind off of his leg.
The exact same junction he first passed was directly to his right, he quickly got up and headed towards it. The pain in his leg was just an after-thought now, as he realized what he was looking for was at the end of this path.
He held the flare up high as he travelled through the narrowing corridor. With every step the walls seemed to close up on him. Soon he had to walk sideways just to fit through.
The walls were simply too tight, he could not fit through. Out of desperation he tossed his flare down the pencil thin corridor revealing it only got tighter and tighter.
James looked back at where he came, only seeing darkness. He then glanced back at where he was heading...the way was rocky and tight but it was bright with truth. He realized he had reached the point of no return, there was no other way to go, no other path to take, he had no other choice.
He sucked up as much air as possible and sucked in his chest and began scraping his way through the vice like corridor. His head felt compressed as he inched his way along, ignoring the sharp rocks tearing through his flesh all over his body. He shut his eyes tight as he continued inching his way through, using his hands to pull him through.
After what seemed like days, he reached his hand out to grab out at the wall but was only able to grasp air. He immediatly opened his eyes and saw he was standing on a ledge near the top of a huge cavern with an odd peice of machinery in the middle.
With no hesitation, James lept out of the corridor landing hard on a smooth rock. James knew there was no life in the corridor, but he still couldnt shake the feeling that this cavern just seemed...dead, as if it was hostile to any form of life, or life itself.
He could not pull himself away though, not that it mattered, because there was no way out except the tight corridor entrance which was well beyond his reach. He only had one choice, a choice he quickly made.
He began walking over to the machine, every step seemingly being a step away from humanity itself. He could feel his very soul being ripped out of him peice by peice as he continued towards the giant machine, which now appeared to be a giant humanoid battle suit of some sort.
Finally he was face to face with the machine, it was as if nothing at all existed. As if he was in a void of nothingness with only himself and the machine...there was nothing else and only it mattered.
Although the machine seemed to scream out hatred and destruction, James could not even begin to hold himself back from it. He hastily crawled inside the cockpit situated in the chest of the machine and looked around.
There were no buttons, no screans, no nothing...James didnt know what to think or what could possibly be happening. He found it hard to look around though, as a sort of tunnel vision started setting in.
James gasped as he struggled in vain trying to get out of the machine as the tunnel vision began enclosing in upon him. Though he tried with all his strength to pop the cockpit open, it simply would not budge, and soon James blacked out inside the machine.

Kelvena sighed and rested her head on a rather hard pillow on her bed. Her thoughts raced as she contemplated the elders words and what it could all mean. Was she just a peice in some giant political war? Could she really be Reiwen? What could be happening to James? She couldnt help considering the questions...but one reverberated ominously in her mind so much stronger then the rest.
What could possibly be so much more powerful then a resource rich planet?
Kelvena realized she needed the sleep, thinking about it would solve nothing. She layed her head back on her pillow and closed her eyes but the faint show of light beneath her eyelids alerted her to someones presence in her room.
"Zeltior! You scared me!" Kelvena said as she identified the intruder to be Zeltior.
"For good reason..." Zeltior said with what seemed to be a glazed over expression on his face.
"Huh..?" Kelvena said as she realized Zeltior was wearing his warp blade bracelet.
"I was supposed to wait until Reiwen was fully resurected to asassinate her...but with MAXIMs plan now brought to light...I can no longer wait," Zeltior said in a sinister undertone as he drew his warp blade.
"Zeltior you're scaring me..." Kelvena said as she reached over to grab her psi blade bracelet off the table where she left it...but it was not there.
"You were a good friend...so I apologize..." Zeltior said as he began walking over to Kelvena.
Kelvena began frantically looking around for her psi blade bracelet while inching her way up the bed trying to get away from Zeltior. But no matter how hard she searched the bracelet simply was not to be found.
Kelvena looked back at Zeltior who was now at the foot of her bed. She got up on her knees and prepared to defend herself any way she could when suddenly a giant shadowy figure dropped from the rafters...it was Kane.
Kane had burried his giant sword straight through the back of Zeltior. Zeltior began coughing and gurgling on his own blood and soon dropped to the ground lifeless.
Kane looked up at Kelvena and smiled, then pulled his massive sword from the now limp Zeltior.
"He and the protoss executor were sent to kill you, but they were supposed to wait until you were fully resurected as Reiwen. Come we must go speak to the elder." Kane said as he motioned to Kelvena.
The two quickly left the room stepping over the lifeless and bloody Zeltior. Outside Xaniir was already dressed for battle and speaking with the elder.
"We must leave," Xaniir said as the two approached the elder.
"With Zeltior here, the Zionites already know of this sanctuary, they will attack it immediatly. You must leave here now! Head to Reiwens tomb, only a fully resurected Reiwen can hope to bring the peoples of this world together to stop them!" The elder said showing much emotion.
"One final note, I have managed to contact the remnants of Sabhurs base. They told me they were attacked by a giant tank force, I beleive it was the same force that captured us. They also told me an unknown force has now begun directly battling with the zerg, I beleive this unknown force is the Zionites." Xaniir said before continuing. "They told me they had made a sort of base in an oasis deep within the valley of blood. It could prove very beneficial to head there before going to Reiwens tomb because Zeltior could have very well told the Zionites that we are heading there..."
"Yes, that would be the wisest course of action...go prepare yourselves! We will die with honor down here!" The elder proudly announced.
Suddenly a low booming sound began emanating from the hallway they came in from. The walls began shaking and great peices of rock and earth began falling from above.
"James has found his other half! Go now Kane will show you the way out!" The elder screamed out in joy.
