This is my first real Battle Report. I read up on a shitload of things about HTML, and now that I know my stuff better, I'm making a br. I had plenty of spare time to do it because I broke my ankle, therefore I have nothing else to do but sit down on my ass. Anyways, I went looking for players for a 1vs1. I knew a few good players but none were on that night. My only choice was to try and hunt down good players. I checked out channel "Ladder Challenges" and found a player, Agent(ne0. His record was impressive and I asked him to come to channel IcE. I asked him to find a oponent, he left and came back with one of his friends; enoch(LS). We chatted for a while and then decided to get on with the game.
To noone's surprise, the map was lost temple. Agent(ne0 had landed a brand-new, shiny Terran Command Center at the 12o'clock position and enoch warped a sparkling Nexus at the 3o'clock position. I lift-off my command center and then I have a bit of fun killing my poor SCV's. Agent(ne0 starts a wall at his entrance at 9/10, and adds a Barracks at 11/18. Enoch builds a pylon at 8/9 and a gateway 9/17. Both players start gathering gas quickly, looks like they are both going to tech. Enoch build a Cyber Core and adds a gateway. A reaver drop? Maybe. Quick HT's? Maybe. Agent adds a Machine shop to his factory and builds a tank. He also starts building a Command center on the edge of his entrance. Enoch sends a probe to scout and sees that his oponent has already expanded. He starts warping a Nexus himself at his natural. From now on, things get a bit more interesting.
Knowing that he must do something about
Agent's expansion,
enoch sends a shuttle loaded with a reaver and drops it right in the midst of the miners. The reaver manages to kill most of the miners but it blows up as a well positioned siege tank delivers deadly blows at its hull. The game looks pretty even now that the players each have a half-running expansion.
Enoch loads a probe in his shuttle and takes the bottom right island expansion while Agent decides to make an offensive move. He sets up a containment around enoch's base, vultures and marines guard the tanks as they fire at the defenseless cannons at enoch's entrance.
Seeing that Agent's units are close enough to the cliff to attack, he sends in all his dragoons to try to end the threat. Both armies are decimated as Agent is left with a single tank and enoch with nothing.
Enoch builds many dragoons and puts them at his entrance. He now has HT's and Psionic Storm researched, so he positions his High Templars on his cliff to ward off any incomming attack, he also builds a couple of stargates, an observatory, a fleet beacon and an Arbiter Tribunal. He now has all the buildings in the tech tree. Agent, on the other side, uses the time gap to expand at his mineral only. He adds two factories to his base as well as two armories to start upgrading vehicle weapons and armor.
Thinking that enoch's base is now poorly defended, Agent sends in the last of his infantry. As the pack of marines arrive at destination they run into several zealots. Having upgrades of 1-3-1, the zealots win the battle against the non-upgraded marines. Agent's economy is very good, so he decides to start producing with all his buildings, his army quickly grows to a group of Marines, six Tanks, a few Vultures and Goliaths. He is now attempting another containment.
His tanks fire at the lone Photon Cannon as a large group of Dragoons and Zealots comes to face the Terran army. Things look good for enoch, his army is larger and has better upgrades. Unfortunately for him, Agent had a back-up plan, he had positioned a pack of tanks in behind the containment. The Protoss destroy most of the Tanks in the front of the pack, but they are now weaker than the Terran as a few spider mines do their job. Agent sends in all he has left and appears to be winning the battle, if he breaches enoch's defenses, the game could be over. But what's with the Stargates??? With only a few Dragoons left, an Arbiter arrives and cloaks the Protoss forces. To my surprise, I see that Agent has no comsat and is forced to retreat to the small pack of cloaked Dragoons.
Now that Agent's forces are retreated, enoch puts together a ground force and counter attacks. The Protoss warriors encounter big resistance on their way to the ennemy base, they destroy dozens of turrets and kill many Goliaths and Marines. Hearing the sound of many Arclite Canons, enoch decides that he caused enough damage and pulls back his troops.
Now both players are left without a decent size army, they both choose to add to their production. Enoch pauses to think.
-"Hmmmm... 5k, I could use this money..."
He adds five gateways and starts building Cariers out of his few Stargates. Agent adds a factory and about eight starports, strangely, he doesn't use them yet. Once again, he contains enoch, but this time the containment is bigger and better. Almost any ground force would not be able to break it, Tanks, Goliaths, Marines, Turrets and a few Vultures guard the entrance.
Then boom. Enoch sends in all his Cariers. The containment breaks as Tanks and Infantry alike are decimated by the Interceptors. The Cariers move up, up, and finally back down after destroying something like two hundred turrets.
Then Agent, seeing all the Cariers, starts producing Wraiths with all his Starports. He then attacks the Protoss base. This is where I just coudn't believe my eyes. enoch had no detection. Wraiths slowly chewed away at buildings and troops. After a minute of this nonsense an Observer shows himself and revealed the Wraiths to the few Dragoons in the base.
At this point, enoch is running out of money, almost all the expansion are occupied by a Terran Command Center. He makes a final attempt at badly damaging Agent's bases. He sends in Cariers, Zealots, Dragoons, HT's and even shuttles with Reavers. He makes a huge hole in Agent's base, but it's not enough.
Having a better economy, Agent is faster in getting back up, and from now on everything is downhill for him. Soon there was nothing left to defend the Protoss base except for a few Dragoons. Agent quickly overpowers them and orders all his forces to attack the base. He even sends a ghost to nuke the place.
Soon enoch's base was destroyed, both players exchanged a "gg" and Agent(ne0 was victorious. Even though these players were both very skilled, they both made errors. First of all, BOTH players lacked detection, this lack of detection changed the outcome of the game. Second, enoch did not spend his money the right way. He bought damn Cariers. Speedlots would of did the job easily. Third, both players were not aggressive enough, at a few points in the game, the ennemy was very weak and the players still did not attack. So anyways, this was a gg. Now I think I should go to bed.
