The sun slowly set upon the scarred world leaving a trail of bright orange ribbons in the darkening sky in its wake. Kelvena always enjoyed watching such things, but now it was different. She could not get the words of MAXIM out of her mind, somehow she 'came to be', the message rang through her mind with ferocious zeal. Even the beautiful orange ribbons, which seemed to be around since eternity itself, were created...but she was not.

Almost as if mocking the young girl, the ribbons slowly faded into nothingness and the all too familiar shroud of blackness once again enveloped the tumultuous world. Kelvena let out a complacent sigh and tiredly stood up and headed once again for the meeting room in the nexus.

Kelvena was quick to notice the impatient looks on the faces of everyone in the meeting room, apparently she was the last to arrive.

"I'm sorry...I got lost in thought..." Kelvena said glancing from face to face.

"No worries lil' lady, we about ta get our mission breifings from the head cheese right here," James said in a very friendly tone.

Kelvena and the others sat down and awaited Sabhur's orders, he was quick to speak.

"Our mission is covered in mystery this time...Our journey is outlined for us but the destination is difficult to see." Sabhur said slowly, obviously picking out his words very carefully before continuing. "Because of this, we have but one choice, Kelvena must lead the party. Zeltior will be second in command since he is familiar with the landscape, and since transportation will be provided by James, he must go as well."

"And what of me sir...?" Xaniir said wondering why his name was not called.

"I fail to see the role you would play in this mission Xaniir." Sabhur said bluntly.

"Sir, surely my psionic powers would come as a great benefit, if anything to defend us should we be beset by zerg." Xaniir said pleading his case.

An ominious silence fell over the room as Sabhur contemplated Xaniir's request.

"Very well...perhaps you are right, you will travel with them as well." Sabhur said after a the few brief moments of silent contemplation. "Prepare yourselves, you depart ASAP."

The four humbly exited the meeting room and weaved their ways through the narrow halls of the nexus finally arriving at the entrance. Right at the entrance stood James souped up siege tank, they all quickly boarded the tank and, in a matter of seconds, had already left the Protoss camp and were off to mount zion.

"James...if you've already completed your mission, why are you still with us?" Kelvena asked curiously.

"Well...MAXIM is just a wee bit curious about this place also, so I'm ta analyze what happens, kinda like a guardian angel ya know?" James replied.

Zeltior was slightly startled by James words but soon passed it off and resumed cleaning his still blood stained armor.

The trip itself was very enjoyable. Traveling very fast and armed with a very effecient air conditioning unit, the tank made the journey like riding on the back of a cloud. Even the climate outside seemed to welcome this journey, the night was exceptionally bright as many brilliant stars shown in the sky.

True to Zeltiors findings, when they reached the site not a single hill could be seen. The site itself was oddly barren, though barren this planet was, usually some brush or small mounds could be seen, but here it was different...nothing.

James stopped his massive tank and was the first to set foot on the oddly cool sand followed by the others. Kelvena led the group as they aimlessly walked around the site, searching for any clue as to what could be of importance here.

"I'm not so sure about thi-" Kelvena started but was quickly interupted by the darkening landscape around them.

Without warning, the once clearly navigatable landscape darkened as the stars in the sky one by one went out. The group, befuddled by this event, could only stare off in confusion as they soon were not even able to see their own hands in front of their faces.

"I'm gettin back to tha tank y'all, I got some flares in there, should help us out a bit," James said and ran off in an unknown direction.

"How will you find your tank?!" Xaniir yelled out, not knowing how far James had gone.

Xaniir's question was answered only by ominious silence. The three that were still together quickly huddled up so as not to lose eachother.

Suddenly the sounds of screams could be heard way off into the distance. The sounds slowly escalated as a mix of screams and metal clashing was very easily recognizable in the blackness.

Almost on cue, James soon returned with a handful of flares and dropped them by the three protoss warriors feet.

"Dont worry I got a cutsy lil tracker on my tank to let me know where it is!" James said finally responding to Xaniir's question. "Umm...what is that sound...?"

"Fire a flare now!" Zeltior yelled out anxiously.

With that, James quickly lit up a flare and fired it out as the sounds grew increasingly loud and near. What was shown was anything but the group expected. Though the noises were still very loud and close, not a single person could be seen...except for one.

A single man, looked to be terran, stood 100 yards away from the four, walking at a very steady pace towards them. He was huge, easily towering over the group and holding a giant sword in one hand and clad in armor as black as the night sky. Perhaps the most fearful part on this man was the expression on his face, a wicked smile lined it as he seemed to stare directly into the hearts of the four as they stared back in shock.

"His eyes...not a single spark of life can be seen..." Xaniir said nearly hypnotized by the giant man.

As the giant armored man steadily approached them, the flare began to lose life. With only 30 yards separating the group from the giant man, the flare finally gave out and once again the landscape returned to darkness.

"Light another one up now! Hurry we haven't a second to lose!" Zeltior commanded very nervously having already drew his warp blade.

James panicked and began fumbling around with the flares before finally wrapping his nervous fingers around a single flare and twisting off the top letting lose the brilliant flash of light imprisoned inside the flare. A brief blind sensation overcame the group as their eyes got used to the dazzling flash of light but were soon able to see perfectly out into the distance.

What they saw once again defied description as thousands of men were engaged in war about one mile away from the four, with that giant man leading one side against the other side which appeared leaderless. The sounds of human screams and clashing metal came from this very battle.

The four stood in awe as the now tens of thousands of human men willingly slaughtered eachother using such primitive weapons as axes, bows, and swords. Neither side was gaining an advantage as more and more blood was shed with the giant man seemingly tearing men to peices with his immense strength.

But, just as quickly as the flare had given them the opportunity to witness this battle, then another bright flash of light errupted, this time directly over the heads of the warriors in the giant battle. Following this came a powerful shock wave sending the warriors sprawling on their backs, the force was so great that even the four standing so far away were sent down on their backs stunned.

When they finally staggered to their feet the second flare had already lost all signs of life and only blackness could be seen. Once again James fumbled with the pile of flares at his feet before finally finding one and letting lose the brilliant orange light illuminating the area.

This time they saw what appeared to be an angel in the middle of the battle apparently fending off both sides. Her power, though, defied logic as one single swipe with her sword caused a rib crushing shock wave crushing and maiming many warriors around her. Soon the area was coated with blood as the ground seemed to rise beneath the feet of the fallen angel right as the third flare finally lost all life and for a third time, the landscape turned to darkness.

James once again started fumbling with the flares but was soon interupted by a loud tank blast. One by one the stars in the sky all started showing brightly again and the area was illuminated once more.

The ground was level, the valley had no trace of the battle they had witnessed, and they were surrounded by a medium sized force of tanks and goliaths.

"Surrender or die!" Screamed out a man in what appeared to be the lead tank.

The group looked on shocked as James' tank had been blasted to oblivion and they had been surrounded on all sides. Without a word spoken, they quickly surrendered to the terran force and allowed themselves to be chained and placed in a waiting tank.
