1v1 Challenger
Introduction:Welcome one and all to my first ever, BattleReport. It is an all text, and semi-newb game. I've been playing StarCraft for some time now, on and off, and never really seriously. I decided to write my first BR after reading some really cool reports by some great authors. As you may notice, my BR has no pictures. Alow me to elaborate. My HTML blows. With that covered, let's move on. I wrote this report after playing an mediocre 1v1 on the map Challenger. With that I present to you my first BR. Enjoy.
It was a fairly homosexual day on B.net, I played my usual UMS games and, "4v4 c0mper st0mperz" games, and I was gettin quite bored. I was tempted to play a 1v1, and improve my zerg game. As i plowed through all the BGH's and LT's, I came across a, "1v1 Challenger" game. I decided to join, and was welcomed by my opponent, "Timidator". We talked for a while, discussed my name, "TheDescolada", and how cool the book series was. Cutting through the rest of the bullshit, we decided to start, and I choose my voracious zerg and my opponent, Timidator, choose the men with the 30,000 year old peni.
Early Game:The Arms Race.
My opponent, Timidator, has decided to take up in an arms race, skimping defense, and going for a 7th pylon, 9th assimilator, and, yes 17th gateway. As I spot this atrocity with my overlord, I decide to keep my strat of, hydras/lings/lurks combo. Within 8 minutes, my overlord is chased away by a lone goon, but the flying mass of blubber manages to spot two StarGates warping in. My regular build of 9th hatch, 10th pool, and 11th extractor, pays off, because I have been massing my groups of units. I predicted that Timidator, would go mass carriers, so I opted for more hydras. As I sensed an attack, I sent all my forces to his choke outside his base, and started teching to get ready for mid-game.
Mid-Game: First Blood.Up until now, there have been no attacks, just plain teching and building. With my main attack force outside his base, I begin to feel like a molestor, and burrowed my three lurkers near his StarGates, all while giggling like a kid whose balls had'nt dropped yet. Without deteciton, Timidator let his two StarGates fall, and finally got an observer up and running. His carriers moved in for the kill, but my hydras intercepted them and began fighting. After a short skirmish with a loss of 4 hydras and 1 carrier, Timidator decides to pull back his carriers and lure my units to some photons. I quickly pull away to my original spot and build up a force of four lurkers, 36 hydras, and 12 lings. With confidence on my side, I proceed to attack. My attack force stampedes upon the protoss encampment, and begins to raze every building and unit in sight. Timidator decides to throw in his 6 zealots and 4 dragoons, and he decimates about half my attack force, but in vain. My attack force continues to raze his main, while I scout the map and find a newly warped expansion, and quickly take it down. With a feeling of victory at hand, I type "GG", as I am about to raze what I think is his last building. But a crank in my homer-like brain, says that its not over yet.
Late Game: Doh.
As his "last" building falls, I notice that he wasn't eliminated. Well, then I remembered his godforsaken carriers, which just then, thundered into my base. I quickly get the carrier killers morphing, but to no avail, the damn scourge target the bees, and not the friggin hive. I franticly search the map for his last remaining building, I try to keep my base from falling. He proceeds to raze my whole base, killing everything, as fast as he could. I quickly send all my drones to his old main, and begin to build a hatchery, just as my last building explodes. No death. Whew. I search the map as, Timidator types in "gg" thinking that he has won. As I search the whole map, I find ONE pylon, just sitting there, with a probe next to it. I build one more hatchery, just in case, as I send in all my units to attack the pylon. Unfortunately my units are in the middle of the map, and have to take quite a trip to eliminate the pylon. While the hydras are trekking to Mecca, he finds my other hatchery, and kills it. He then flys back to his main, predicting that was where my hatchery was and meets my hydras, but targets my last hatchery instead. My two lurkers attack his pylon, with the help of a zergling. As the pylon explodes, I sit there in awe, watching my 235 HP hatchery bleed like those raped Japanese girls in hentai movies, and type in a "gg".

Lessons Learned:
- Always have base defense, even if it's very little.
- Always expand, you'll never know when you'll need that last expansion.
-Always keep you mind on the battle, I never realised those carriers were missing.
- Always go for a mix of units, in Timidator's case, he only had carriers, he could have beat me if he had made goons and zealots.
