Hello again Folks. I'm nearing my 100th win in Vanilla and hopefully that will be my next BR (And then I return to BW). I planned my night to go Challenger, Lost Temple and then plop myself down infront of the T.V and watch the Tom Green Show. I started off my night as planned.

Map: Challenger

Me: Toss (chosen)
Him: Toss (chosen)

Well...I expected another turtle Toss outta this one. I've been getting so many of them lately, it's quite annoying. Even though I expected a turtle, I did'nt power like a fiend or anything...just in case of a Zealot rush. But, I have not been zealot rushed in so long I can't even remember the last time I was. Most people here go for defence first.

I do my 7 plyon, 8 gate, 9 gate build. I keep all my cash on the battlefield in early game and don't run into any supply mistakes when making my first Zeals and Probes. I have about 7 or 8 zeals now and I decide to scout. I expected my zeal to run into mucho cannons as that is what usually happens. Well...My one Zeal runs into his few Zeals (Maybe 6...I think) rushing to my base, and he dies. I wonder if in future games, my first Zealot scout will refuse to do his job (As the 1st zealot scout always gets raped). This can't be good for morale amoung my troops. Anyway... the old Zealot rusher has finally re-entered my life.

I do a quick estimate on his forces and my own. I have maybe a couple of Zeals more than him. I look at my two gates to see that 2 more zeals are under 1/2 done. I brace for the attack. Considering, I saw his rushing zeals by his choke coming for me...I had a few moments to get ready. They finally came and the two forces ripped into each other. I quickly clicked on one of his zeals to see if there were any upgrades on his part....but there were none. So, The 0/0 zeals fought it out. I kinda knew that it would be almost impossible for any upgrades to be obtained in this early point of the game....but I wanted to just confirm my odds of getting past this first battle. I micro a bit and see that I am beating off his forces.

The attack fails. I have 3 Zeals left...plus the 2 that popped outta my gate mid way through the rush. So, I'm at a grand total of 5 zeals. I decide it's time for a counter attack. I send my zeals up to his base, while making more zeals/getting gas/ working on my economy and base.

My Zeals arrive to find only 2 zeals defending...with no cannons. They attack...and the 2 Zeals are defeated, but he killed one of my weaker zeals. I now have 4 zeals moving towards his mineral line. I see that this game might be a little quick....so I through down a 3rd gate at home and a forge (Maybe I could get an upgrade in there somewhere). I put off teching to goons as I saw that quick zeals would be important. I look up to see that my Zeals are now fighting back to back against his probes (Quite a few probes too...like surrounding my guys) and he got a zeal and goon outta the gates. All of the probes die...but my Zeals die too. Remember, most of my zeals were still trashed from his rush on me.

Knowing that his probes were all dead, I stepped down from red alert. I sent in 5 more zeals and attacked his mineral line once again. I killed the two probes he made after my attack...and his goon and zeal decided to defend their base. The goon and zeal died without any problem and he left the game without saying a word.

Lessons learned:

-Well...for starters, I was quite happy with the back and forth early game attacks. I don't get too much practice in the early game melee as most people get defence first here. I learned that counter attacks rule after a guy rushes you and fails.

-This guy came into the game thinking about the Zealot rush all the way.....but did'nt have a back-up plan if it failed. Plus...I don't think he made zeals/goons while rushing. Lesson: Don't rely on a rush alone to win the game...have a plan if it fails.

PART TWO: Intermission (*Flint does a tap-dance routine to entertain the reader while waiting for the second part*)

Feeling quite pleased with my first game I decided to move on to Temple. I looked at my watch and had a good chunck of time to work with until my T.V show comes on. Sweet.

Map: Lost Temple
Me: Toss (Picked)
Him: Terran (Picked)

Early game: I spawn at the 2 position and he spawns at 6. I believe those are the right start locations basically :) . I do the same standard build as before and get a few zeals at my choke. I sent out a probe earlier to see where he was....but did'nt see anything special. Just a standard 2 rax build....ok. I send my probe back in a min later to have it die to a marine. Anyway... I decide to check up on him again and send a zeal out to see what he is doing a while later. He dies to many marines in his base. Ahh well. We all know the first zealot scout gets raped.

Mid-Game: I get gas before making the core and work from there. As soon as the core warps in...I get the range upgrade and work on making goons from there. I'm worried a bit...because I saw at least 6 raxs goin (two were building I think)...and his economy is maxed nicely. I estimate his forces again later with a zeal and figure there is good chance he may be able to over-run me with all those damn marines. Ok....for the first time in a while....I go into defence mode. I made a 3rd gate...cannon my choke to a reasonable extent and put a shield bat there for starters. I decided to make reavers to combat his many many many marines that were sure to be in production.

I step down from red alert when my two reavers are with the rest of my forces. He does'nt attack. Jezzzz....he must have A LOT of marines by now. So I decide to take the battle to him :) . I shuttle over 2 reavers and drop them close enough to his marine legions. I see the first few scarabs hit and kill a TON of rines then get back to marco. I expand to my natural while all this is goin down. Eventually my Reavers die to many rines....but he has to be hurtin now :) . I see he has also not expanded, yet. I enter late game on good note.

Late game: Observer reports show he has not defended his mineral line yet. I drop off two more reavers and the kill all the probes....plus a few rines ect. No tanks either. hmmm...ok. His main was getting pretty dry now too. He messages me, "Good move...I should have expected that." Well, at least he is learning stuff from the game. He tries a small tank push on my natural, but templar/goons/reavers handle it. My other observer sees he is expanding to one of the Island expansions. He is expanding there by floating his starting CC over there. Yesh. Guess he did'nt have the cash to start another one. I drop an archon and reaver on this expansion attempt and the 4-letter words come from him a bit. hehe. He knows he is screwed now and does one last dire attempt to hit my natural. My reavers move to intercept and he gets pissed off and disconnects on me.

You little bastard. If people keep disconnecting on me like this...my 100 wins goal is gonna be a pain in the ass. Not to mention I damn well earned that win and it took me a fair amount of time to get it. I look at my watch and it is roughly ten minutes b4 my show. I slam my fist on the table and say, "F*CK this...I'm getting that win damnit!" I finally refuse to let the disconnecters slow down my 100th win tally. I'm getting an easy win to represent the win I should have had in that temple game.

I enter the long forgotten 3 vs 1 RUSH game on BB (My face turns a bit sour but I continue with the game). I rest my head on my hand and mutter, "Let's just get this BS over with."

Me: Zerg picked
Partner: Zerg picked
Other partner: Toss picked

Well....It's a 3 vs 1 comp rush game. I decide to pool at 5 and get this shit over with. My Zerg partner does roughly the same and soon we have some lings. I wonder why the other guy picked Toss...as this game will be over with b4 he can even arrive on the battlefield. Yadda Yadda Yadda...we zergies rush the comp (no help from Toss)...and it dies (Suprise suprise). The game is not ending...

I look over to my Toss ally and see shared vision is off and a few zeals headed towrads my base. Whoa...I've never been backstabbed before. Considering it was a 3v1 comp rush game on BB...I can't really say much about the morales of this game in general (The easy win/knife in the back). Soooo, I don't blame him for what he is trying to do. But...I can say this....he picked the wrong game and player to backstab >:0 (*Flints face or pure anger and hatred.*)

I look at my watch....4 mins to go....damnit. Not to mention my economy is crap and I have no defences. He hits me b4 I can unally, and my back-up lings are all but killed. I send down my lings I used to rush the computer and the Zerg ally does the same to help me. He is down to 2 zeals now attacking my pool after our joint attack fails...and I have 6 more lings in eggs. Hy Zerg ally starts swearing and insulting the backstabber...but I remain quiet. My eyes are red with anger, my jaw is shut tight and I'm holding onto mouse as hard as possible. Not only has this jackass put a knife in my back...but he may make me miss the T.V show I have waited all week for >:o .

Needless to say...I'm pissed.

My lings hatch and kill off his Zeals just as my pool is really bleeding. I add to my slow economy and throw down two sunkens by my mineral lines. I made a few lings. My partner goes hard lings and does'nt worry about defence. The backstabber attacks again, with about 8 Zeals. I message my ally ,"Ok...now is our chance...attack his main...I can handle this alone." He runs into my sunkens...and then I move my lings to intercept. He pulls back and I see on the mini-map that my ally has a good amount of little dots heading for the Toss main (They were lings of course). I finish off his 2nd attack and join the allied lings at the enemy main. As we raise it the Toss is yelling ," I was'nt gonna finish you off...spare me!" yadda yadda yadda. It sure looked liked he was gonna screw me if he had the chance. We eliminate him and last message is recieved by the toss calling us f*cking morons ect.

*Flint raises the mighty dual middle finger at the backstabber and puts an evil half smile on his face*

Game Over.

I now have 30 secs to catch the start of my show. I run to the Family room...preform a summersault on the ground and pick up the remote while doing so. Turn on the T.V and switch to Channel 44 (Comedy Network) just as the last few milli-seconds of a comercial finish up and the show starts.

I wipe a bead of sweat from my forehead and crack open a cold beer. I take a healthy chug from the cold-one and enjoy my show. Another night of Vanilla SC has concluded in Flint's life....along with the usual little suprises that occur as well. I invite you all to take one night, play some vanilla SC, and see what will transpire :) . Hopefully my 100th win BR will be NEXT! I await the usual silver (So close to gold....but mostly I don't quite make it :( ) I get from most of my BR's. hint hint *cough* *cough*. Ahhh...rate it however you feel it is worth. I just like sharing these nights I have with everyone.
