The battle for elttab!

It was a crisp calm day, the map was lost temple, the players were gosu, and the kakaru were noticably missing. Random vs terran was the matchup, and both players professed ownership of gamei accounts (the Party badge of gosuness, so to speak). The players?

vs

Caralynn (account name... Caralynn).
Terran (nothing cool goes with terran. They're pretty dull...)
at 6 (it was gamei(map not server), no tired imbalance :P)

The humble beginnings were anything but. I opened up with 8 pylon (none of that gay 9 pylon stuff, I like my workers thanx), 11gate, 12assim, 14? pylon, and core exactly when gate finished. A goon was morphed... er warped, and sent off to give it's life for aiur.

Terran did 8 depot (sharing my appreciation of workers), 11 rax, 13 gas (choosing a bit of econ over faster tank), and 17 fact (this is the "late" gas showing).

My goon swiftly came knocking, and the terran being stubborn wouldn't open up for it. A single marine stood and taunted his attempt at entry. The goon, disliking this treatment, started an assault on the depot. As the goon attacked, I started up a robs, and then obs, and the Fred Astair of scv's in my base saw it. While I was busy with my tech (1 gate tech none the less), Caralynn built a command center. Yes, it was 1 fact expand in action.

After another goon arrived, she sent scvs to repair, and a tank to chase them away. That tank was followed by a second, and her command center finished. Confidant that she could now expand, she began to float it over... only to discover my fled goons were waiting in her natural minerals! Realizing her mistake, she sent the command center back, and put a tank on low ground to clear the menance. The goons ran in, killed the low ground tank and ran back, still preventing the expand. Unfortunately, the delay was not forever (we're not DMV after all :P) and his tanks pushed my goons away, allowing the expand to go online. It was nonetheless delayed a full minute, allowing my resources to get slightly ahead.

Next I try a little something gosu, and use the "load" technique. I send my shuttle (got it from robs gosu eh?) and 7 goons to the little spot in between 6 and 9, and no, I don't mean your navel-_-. I loaded 2 goons, dropped them in her main, and sent the shuttle back with every expectation of shuttling in more. Unfortunately Caralynn had 3 tanks and 2 turrets in her main's minerals, thus denying my attack.

A little update on production. I have an expansion and 4 gates. She has an expansion and 3 factories.

Now, because protoss vs terran is all about greedy capitalistic over expanding, I take both the 12 main and the 12 natural. I also send all my goons to the center, in anticipation of the push I know will come. While I'm doing this, she sends an ebay to watch my 3 natural. I send two goons in a shuttle to get rid of it (it was preventing sun from getting to my solar power probes ;P).

Now, realizing I will soon have an obese amount of troops and an every larger income, Terran decides it's time to put the hurt on me. So she moves her army of 14 tanks out, under the watchful eye of my obs. I'm not so sure I like this, and I send my 20 goons and 2 zealots as a little "no thank you". Now, under normal circumstances, 14 tanks, a few vultures and some mines would probably rape 20 goons and 2 zealots, like well, come to think of it it's probably best to keep the similes with rape out of the picture. I think it suffices to say the tanks would probably own. However, 4 tanks were left out of the battle, and I managed to get my troops in a rather nice semicircle before hand. The end result is she has 2 tanks, I have 5 goons. However, my production is up to about 7 gates, and she is still on 4 factories. This should be gg, but once again....

THE CHOBO FACTOR!
(didn't think I'd go without it did you?)

Cara is in a bit of desperation, and so, as she produces more tanks, she begins to move. The next battle is 10 goons vs 6 tanks and mines. I kill 4 tanks. She kills all my goons. Again she rebuilds, this time making turrets along the way (to prevent shuttle drop). She also takes her mineral only, and techs to starport.

Meanwhile, I lay down 4 more gates (so I'm up to 11) and get templar tech and forges (begin the upgrades baby (yeah it was a bit late I sux)).

Again she pushes, this time with 12 tanks. I "decide" head on is the best way to fight, and so I send in 18 goons. A combination of tanks + mines ends with me killing 4 tanks, and saving for goons. Not good : (

Her push is now at my natural, and I'm in quite the predicament. However, I do have about 14 gates pumping, and I start to mass troops in both 12 and 3. Further, I expand to 9 main, natural, and mineral only. I also take the 12 mineral only. She may have map control, but I have the map = ) Little do I know, shortly after I expand to 9, she builds a wallin at my base.

Her push over runs my natural. The probes there are slaughtered with the callousness of a columbian cocain dealer. She also begins a little push at my 9 natural (3 tank, 6 vulture), but I slaughter that with a control group of goons and zeals. However, as that had been going on, a tank drop took out all the probes at the 9 main.

An update. I have 17 gates (added 3 more to 9), assorted zeal/goon/templar in both 12 and 3, and alot of expansions. She has her expansions 3, 8 factories and is just about to get the island.

Now it's time to...... BREAK IT DOWN!

Fearing that I had out resourced her by far too much she began a push to 12. From both my bases at 12 and 3 troops poured out in a counter. It was approximately 40 goons, zealots and templars vs 30 tanks well spread in control of the center. With great storms, nice flanking, and rather horrid obs control (they kept getting poped by turrets lol) I defeated the force in the center. Once I was broken out, and had entire map, the game was pretty much over. She conceded defeat right as my carriers came in : )

I learned a few lessons from the game. The first is, conserve your troops if there is no need to attack. I already had two expansions on her, and my advantage grew every second we played. I should have allowed my superior production to take hold.

The second was, it is absolutely neccessary to flank terran when they push you. While I did have a little, I should have came in from every direction, including behind. I was mostly just head on, and if any flanking, it was from the side.

Third, I should have upgraded earlier I believe. Or gone carriers faster.
