ACT 6 - The Finale
But the allies don't stop there. They know this is their last, best chance to destroy their genocidal common foe, and that everything hangs on their action in the following seconds.
So it is that the marine army tramples North, and runs up the ramp. Three cannons lie in wait for them, and although the top of the ramp turns into a rather nasty bloodbath the defensive structures are still slaughtered. Now the base lies relatively open, with only a couple more cannons and dragoons in the way to victory. Oh yes - and the carrier fleet. The marines do immense damage, vanquishing a great many buildings, while the orange goliaths amass near the bottom of the ramp. But the brown ships simply evade this blockade, and glide in from the West, bearing down upon the massively outgunned marines with vengeance on their minds.
Not many soldiers manage to escape. Those that do flee terrified into the protecting goliaths, with Wang shouting wildly at Triple to retreat. Ignoring his partner's advice, the orange Commander stands firm as the lumbering carriers come into view just above the ramp. The battle is fierce, yet the battered, interceptor-depleted carriers just can't stomach such a battle right now. Their tails between their legs they slink off, with two of their number sliding silently, eerily down into the ground, smoke trailing from their lightning-blue engines.

The Goliaths and any surviving white marines charge victoriously up the ramp, and tear into the remaining structures as the carriers chug off towards the center. With no shuttle and no working base, IOM makes the critical decision to spend his last remaining money on interceptors, and hopes for the best.

But IOM isn't quite through yet. He still has a powerful fleet of carriers, their shields recently recharged from the central batteries. Perhaps he thinks that if he can only knock out Triple's working resource nodes, then he can finally overcome his foes with the superior mobility and devastating firepower of his carriers. How far the Executor has fallen since he was at the door of orange's undefended main, thinking about whether he should attack!
Putting such thoughts out of his mind, he lashes out against orange's 3:00 expo, devastating all defenses and crushing all the working peons. For a moment it seems like the good old days are back, especially when the carriers slip away as real opposition arrives.

The last stargates fall to the withering firepower of Wang's marines as the carriers rumble up to the Northwest. The white captain then moves two tanks close to the central cliff edge, and proceeds to pummel any nearby Protoss structures with crippling acrilite salvos.

It's a move that won't go unreplied. Releasing his pent-up fury at real cause for his destruction, IOM slaughters all defenses at the white natural, losing countless interceptors but accomplishing his dark aims at last. Three white tanks overlooking the main are crushed in sequence, and it is with a shocked wail that ol' Wang begs his partner for help.

Wang's base buckles to continual pressure from the Carriers, and flights of interceptors lay waste to anything on the air or ground. But, although the Executor doesn't know it yet, relief is soon to come for the white Commander. A full armada of battlecruisers thunders to the Northwest as fast as their vast engines can take them, and it isn't long before the carriers finally - finally - meet their match. The huge brown ships flee to the South, pursued by their slightly smaller rivals, and attempt to defeat the cruisers using their superior range and manoeuverability ( see my previous br, "Xenocide" ). But nearly every advantage goes to the cruisers, which have full upgrades and yamato cannon researched. The nuclear volley of the dreaded cannon sizzles through the charged air, and two carriers fall within the first few seconds. The interceptors are smashed in short order, and a second flank of two cruisers roars in from the West in a brilliant pincer maneuver. With nowhere to go and only a few remaining interceptors, the carriers lie helpless as they are brutally slaughtered by the orange cruisers.

Then the cruisers coast on, and proceed to devastate the central base. It is one of the most fitting moments in the game, as the tables are now completely turned for the Protoss. Any remaining buildings are rounded up by Alliance forces, and soon enough, after exactly 48 minutes and 39 seconds of intense fighting, the battle for ramparts is over, with a final, haunting threat from IOM

Okay, I'll try and make this short. This was a great game, just a great game, and I'm wondering whether I should post the replay or not. In a sense, I'm afraid it will take away from the report, and perhaps the only record of this game people should see is the br. Also, as a traditionalist, I'm not sure I really like the idea of people reading a report and then looking the replay - or, far worse, vice versa. It's a decision I'll make after I post this report, so I guess you should check out the replay section to find out what I did.
Secondly, I have three battlereports that I hope to release within the next two weeks or so. The first will be a production by Eradicate~me and myself, merging his gosu picture skills with my half-decent writing. The second will be an entirely original creation by myself, one that will stray very far from any report I or anyone has ever done. The third, will be an interactive br, the largest one ever done, written in a very different way than any other IBR ever created.
Finally, as a finishing comment, I'd like to ask you all to take a look at this recent gem, posted a couple days ago by a relative newcomer, (...Blaze...). This is truly a great emerging talent, someone who could very well match Dr Zhivago's gosuity. So check out the battlereport ( but leave a comment here first =O ), I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
