Annihilator's Werehouse Presents : Boredom Can Lead to Pretty Decent Stories - Part Two
(Note : It's only 11:50 PM, so this one might not be as sad as the last)
The Year is 2481
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE'S NO TICKETS!!?", Joe thundered through the phone.
"NO WAY AM I GOING TO MISS ZAXTON BEACH THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!!"
"I'm sorry, Sir, but we've had many reservations. If you'd just hold on a minute... ah yes, here it is. OK, you won't be able to get the tickets you want until 2485. However, I can arrenge a flight to Zaxton Beach by Wraith for tomorrow."
"No no no, I'm not gonna fly in a dirty Wraith. That's a fighting aircraft for God's sake! Are you sure you can't get me a First Class Dropship by, say, next month?"
"Like I said, I'm afraid that's impossible."
Joe slammed the phone down with anger.
"What's the matter, Honey?", asked Joe's wife, who had just came in.
"No tickets...too many reservations. We won't be able to go anywhere this summer."
His wife was about to say something, but the beeper echoed across the room before she opened her mouth.
"Great, just great," said Joe, "we'll be hittin' rock bottom any minute now."
He was right. The following message appeared on the small LCD screen :
joe... come...¬..§ ... quick.. zerrrg........protttos...everywerhe..
Something was obviously going on. Joe didn't have time to think about how bad this could be. He hopped inside the Vulture and drove away. Throughout the whole way, he wondered what was happening. From the message he got, he could make out that Protoss and Zerg are everywhere, probably wrecking havoc the base. However, that message left room for imagination.
As he approached the base, his worst fears came true. Massive Protoss and Zerg forces were putting an end to his base. They were cooperating. Joe could see a Zealot riding on a Mutalisk, and several Hydralisks giving orders to High Templars. It was a horrible sight. He saw his fellow Marines being slayed by the invisible blades of Dark Templars; Guardians bombing the Command Center, and Infested Terrans sacrificing their lives to the Overmind.
But the worst thing of all is that Joe couldn't do anything. He just stood there, thunder-struck. He couldn't head back home. He couldn't stay standing there. He entered the Vulture once again and carefully drove to the Factory. The Siege Tanks were all in place; no one was using them. The same in the Starport, the Wraiths were collecting dust. They had really caught them with their pants down. Although he knew how to control a Wraith perfectly well, it wouldn't make a difference. He had to call the Zaxton Region for reinforcements. And he couldn't do it from here.
He drove to the Command Center, and into the control room. There, on the floor, was General Fish, Joe's General in the previous war. It was hard to tell whether he had been killed by a Zealot, Dark Templar or Zergling, since he had various cuts and his left arm was missing. He was obviously dead. But Joe had more serious matters right now. The main computer wasn't exactly working right, but it was worth a shot. He approached it and saw the "Please enter password" message. He had no clue what the password was, so he just hit "OK". "Wrong Password", showed the screen, but he hears the computer say "Access Granted" in a funny, screwed-up kind of voice. Now he had to send an SOS call.
He tried to send a message to Zaxton, but the national network was not working. They were really screwed now.
He figured he might as well fight for Dut. He ran out of the Command Center(He thought he saw a Queen near the entrance, but wasn't sure if it was an hallucination or not), guns blazing. However, he hit nothing but air. His bullets were not obeying him. He realized it was all over. The enemy troops were getting nearer. His muscles were starting to get rebellious(that's a word... right?), and his vision was getting darker. It felt as though he was no longer controlling his body. And then, he blacked out.
He woke up very suddenly. He was standing in an unknown place, surrounded by Zerg forces. The Hydralisks and Zerglings were all staring at him, but they didn't look threatening. They were not going to attack him. Quite the contrary, they had a kind of friendly and curious look on their face.
Joe couldn't explain it... but somehow, he felt a sudden urge to serve The Overmind.
The End
There you have it. If you didn't get it, Joe became infested; The Overmind has complete control over his little soul now.
Lessons Learned :
1. Joe rules.
2. The changing between a Terran Marine and a Zerg Infested Terran is not immidiate.
3. Why am I doing this?
Until next time...
This has been an Annihilator production
AUTHOR'S NOTE : Was it really that bad? ok, so it is. At least it has a nice ending. Sadder than Part I? You have to decide that. The time, by the way, is 1:18 AM.
