There are no pictures in this battle report for those of you that care. This is my very first report so I expect to get flamed, so send in those comments!
It all started when the Internet crashed that bright and early morning. (Ok, ok it was like 10:30 a.m.) After seeing a million wrong username/password pop-ups I decided to use my mom’s Internet upstairs. The dreaded WebTV. It slowly told me that my Free ISP was updating and that I have to redownload the program. Son of a B!!!! By this time my Twin Brother woke up and was sorely pissed. So we sat brooding until an idea came into my head. We could use the old computer and play modem to modem! Yes the crappy 1992 Compaq Persario 7222 that barley runs StarCraft. We both agreed on Lost Temple as our first game. (Yes, yes I know very overplayed map) and thus begins THE WAR OF THE TWINS.
I randomed Zerg at 3:00 o’clock.
My brother randomed Terran at 6:00 o’clock.
I first sent my overlord to the 12:00 o’clock but finding nothing there I send him to the top left island to act as scout in case he decides to expand up there. My build went like this. 14 pool, 15 creep, 16 overlord, 17 extractor, 18 creep. I placed one colony behind the pool and one to the side near my drones. I built 6 zerglings as soon as I was able while morphing my colony’s to sunkens. I built a hatch at my natural while sending a zergling scouting at the 6:00 o’clock to see if my archenemy was there.
As my zergling climbed up the ramp I see no defenses. So I continue to send him to the mineral line to see if he had expanded there. I find 1 bunker with 4 marines rushing inside, covering a barracks, CC, SCVs, and a starting factory. My zergling was slaughtered but I didn’t care, he did his duty to the Swarm. I was surprised at my brother’s tactics. He was turtleling very slowly and I knew he was a better player than this. (Well at Toss anyway) Well I decided to morph a 2nd hatch at my main and build a Hydra Den while upgrading to Lair while pumping drones. I decided to build 2 sunkens at my natural. It proved to be a wise choice for as soon as they finished a vulture bike showed up and laid a mine right outside my base. I was expecting a heavy assault with tanks and medics surrounding them with marine backup. Just then my Den finished so I switch to hydras as my main produce now while upgrading range attack. No attack came as I thought. So I brought down an OL and just find 2-5 mines outside my base. I get my 9 hydras to take them out and send a ling to scout his base as I sent a drone to expand in the 12:00 o’clock area. My ling reports 1 bunker at the ridge with a turret standing guard right above it. Odd no tanks. So I built a suicide overlord and sent them ever so slowly towards his base. I wanted to scout his base faster than this so I started speed upgrade. It completed just as it reached the base….and was blown to pieces by at least 5 turrets. “What the hell!!?!?” I asked myself. I sent another OL down to find his whole base surrounded by turrets and his natural not taken yet. I had overlords all over the map and I knew he had not expanded at all. I threw down 2 more hatches along with 2 evolution chambers while researching transport for my overlords. I had my main almost mined out while my natural was still in full swing and my 12:00 o’clock was just coming online, so I knew that my brother was starving for minerals but he must have more troops then I have because I was wasting my money on upgrading my hydras with armor, attack, and speed upgrade and expanding. When my transport research finished I sent a drone to each island to build hatches. I was totally expecting an attack soon from my brother since we have made no contact what-so-ever during the whole game. But none ever came. I was worried. He could be going BC’s which would ruin my day right now. But I looked at my now growing number of hydralisks with 2-2 upgrade and knew that if BC’s did come into play I would decimate them. My base was very crowded so I sent them towards the middle of the map with an overlord to scout for mines, which seemed to appear every now and then. Then suddenly a dark sensation came over me. Has he expanded to the 9:00 o’clock? I haven’t checked that area for a long while. Rushing my overlord that I left at the top left island oh so long ago to find a completely empty area. “Hell why not take that too.” I said to myself. I sent a drone over and began building a hatchery with 12 hydras as escort. After amassing about 150 hydras I knew it was time to meet my brother upon the field of combat. Starting a queen’s nest so I could upgrade to Hive to get my final upgrade for my hydras I rushed my brother’s base with the fury of the Swarm behind me. I also brought along 5 overlords to scout for mines and to check the ridges. Suddenly the air was filled with roars. Siege Tanks were lining the whole ridge firing down at my poor hydralisks. I ignored them and rushed towards his ramp where only 2 bunkers were stationed with oh no!! He used one of my favorite Terran tactics against me! The medic wall!!! My hydras were stuck on the low ground running around with their pants around their tails, trying to shoot up at and the bunkers and tanks. I was forced to kill each and every medic before I could climb that blasted ramp but by then my hydras were dead. I also noticed that just before they died the tanks have 1-0 upgrades and the marines had 2-2 better get my last upgrade for my hydras soon. Oh well I had about 150 more ready to go back in the middle of the map. I rushed them down towards the ramp to find it blocked with SCVs and medics. By the time I cleared the way my hydras did minimal damage before all falling to siege tank fire. I began my final attack and armor upgrade while getting the faster attack for zerglings. I had about 10000 ore and 5000 gas but I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough. My food was maxed out with hydras so I tried again to break through my brother’s defenses. As I rushed down I saw a CC with SCV’s busily mining. The CC lifted off and floated towards safety while the SCV’s screamed in fury and rushed towards my hydras to defend their beautiful minerals. They succeeded in slowing my hydras up, which allowed pot shots from the tanks to take their effect. My remaining army arrived at the ramp to find it blocked off AGAIN by medics and SCV’s. Sighing I went back to my base to produce more troops letting my soon doomed hydras to their fate. I knew that my brother was out of money. There was no possible way he could keep replacing his medics much longer. So with a combined army of cracklings and hydras I rushed at his base FINALLY succeeding in climbing the ramp to find 2 Sci. Vessels irradiating my troops. Gahh I was screaming! Where is he getting the money!! I placed a spire so I could get scourge to bring these flying terrors down. I sent reinforcements to my main army in my brother’s base and soon nothing but rubble remained. But he still wasn’t dead. Flying building I muttered as I noted that my spire was done and starting making scourge to scour the map and find my hiding brother. 5min., Later GG’s were exchanged and the game was brought to a close. The game lasted an hour with me making, mining, and razing the most stuff. While my brother got the most kills. He killed about 320 of my units out of like 500. Thank you for reading this (probably) boring battle report!
