"Hey... a tip, if you want to get a 10, make sure your report has annoying text color, staged pics, an unrefined look, and is ultra wide. Just helping you out. :)" -Dabel/EggFooYoung

The undefined. Humans have discovered continents, settled lands, warred each other, loved and lived together and traveled through the void of space. People have defined gravity, and light. One “thing” stands alone, undiscovered, undefined. Time. Time has been man’s greatest challenge, to define it. It is not a thing that can be touched, and cannot be reached or even manipulated by our generation (or others before). People have theorized that time can be manipulated, stretched if you will, but it has never been proven.”
David put down his pen, tired of his grade 12 physics homework. The teacher gives out way to much. He never gives us a break. Every night, homework, short essays, speeches to be prepared. I’m tired of this shit, he thought, I want to join the army, I want to live life, not be a slave to my pen and my school.
David stood; weary of his marathon of physics homework. He had been working for almost four hours straight. He walked over to the bathroom, attached to his large 10 x 10 feet bedroom. He was a poor son of a poor family. His land, his family, had been ravaged by constant war centuries past and centuries to come. The Zerg. His most hated enemy. He had read all about them in history and biology class. David had even dissected a young larva. It had stood motionless, its straight-black eyes glaring into his pupils. He had felt fear, but only for a second. David remembered his sister’s dark red blood, poring like a stream from her chest wound. A zergling had caught her away from the tour at Aydaro VI, and stabbed her with its long, sharp blade that extended from its heel. David had remembered this, and shot the needle he used for dissection straight through the young larva’s heart. He didn’t want this larva to be born into a zergling, or any being that would help the Zerg destroy more life from his wounded galaxy.
The zerg had started their attack on his galaxy centuries ago, or 4583 to be precise. It had been horrible. The zerg had caught the Humans of guard, attacking a populated part of the galaxies more prominent sectors with millions of zerg, mindless in there own butchering, and had erased all but a few of their gift of life. From their it had been more difficult for the zerg to advance, as the Humans fought with valor that only defenders of their own kind can have. It had still been gruesome and still was.
David stood, undressed and lie back in bed, staring up into the sky. His family was too poor to rebuild the roof. A crashing Wraith pilot had destroyed it. David had pieced through the wreckage, just seconds after it had demolished his roof and landed in his bedroom. He remembered the bloody skull of the wraith pilot, mangled, and skewed with blood and brains. He has sworn to avenge that pilot’s death. He never had.
But now it was his time. It was his time to avenge the deaths of them all. He was going to join the army. He knew his parents wouldn’t approve, and would do everything within their power to hold him back from the horror and tragedy of war. He would leave tomorrow morning, at first dawn.
David awoke to the annoyance of a beam of light on his eyelids. He leaned forward, stretching his arms and chest. David wondered about what homework he was going to get today in Physics. Then he remembered. He remembered his plan. David immediately thought of all the things that could go wrong. His parents phoned to police, and he couldn’t get his interstellar bus pas. He wasn’t old enough to join the army. He had no food, and not enough money. He looked over to his right, a framed picture of his sister and himself. He remembered her fun loving attitude. He got up, dressed in his most durable clothing and got his wallet. Looking through his wallet, he counted 1,200 C. Only 1,200 credits. Hardly enough to make it for a week alone.
He wouldn’t be alone. David left. He didn’t say goodbye, left no notes, and nobody noticed his leaving. He walked outside, smelling the stench of human and zerg remains. This isn’t a battlefield, it’s my home, he thought. Walking back outside was a welcome reminder of the reasons for his sudden urge to leave. It was a short walk to the recruiting office, just a half kilometer (or 0.3 miles for you ignorant Americans). David pushed open the door confidently, and sat down. A young sergeant sat at a small desk. He looked up.
“Hi son” he said.
“Hello, sir.” David replied, with an air of confidence.
“You want to join the army son? You look a little young for war,” the sergeant observed.
“I am 18, old enough to join you, if I recall sir.” David lied
“You look younger, but we need all we can get. Name?”
“David Ygors”
“Well, were not real picky down here at army recruitment, so I won’t be needing any more answers of you. You have any money on you?”
“1,200 credits, sir”
“Pass ‘em here, son”
David stood, reaching to his pockets for his wallet. His hands wrapped around the leather, and he pulled the wallet out.
“Here sir,” said David, passing the wallet over to the recruiting sergeant.
“Thank you son, you know the way to the space port right?”
“Yes sir, I do”
“Here’s your ticket, you’ll probably start as a foot soldier, unless you want to be a tanker”
“Thank you, sir”
“Have a good time son, but more importantly fuck ‘em zerg up!”
“I will, sir”
David left the recruiting office, pulling the door aside. He was once again greeted by the smell of death. He walked the 5 kilometers (metric > you) to the space port, rubbing the cardboard like paper of his ticket between him. David walked nervously up the stairs and pulled open the doors, and walked into the space port. He looked around, wondering where to go next when a soldier walked up and tapped him on the shoulder.
“Going somewhere boy?”
“I, I joined the army sir”
“I’m sure you did boy, but I need a ticket from the recruiter to prove that. You know civilians aren’t aloud in here!”
“I have a ticket sir, right here.”
“Why, why yes you do. 6 A E, okay, your at that door.”
The soldier pointed towards a tall, 10 meter high by 5 meter wide double door.
“Thank you, sir”
“Go get ‘em boy”
David walked towards the door, and began running as he heard the rhythmic beat of turbine gyro thrusters pulsing gravity as propulsion (big words > u). David was just in time, ducking through the low doors of an interstellar “bus”. It was really a troop carrier, or renovated cargo ship probably bought as some auction. David gave his ticked to an older soldier, and sat down beside a man about his age, with brown hair and brown eyes.
“Hi” said David.
“Hi, your from ‘round here too?”
“Sure am, 5 and a half klicks south-west. Goromon district. How ‘bout you?”
“Isopo district, 25 klicks North.”
“So…. What you gonna be, soldier?”
”Naw, I am gonna be a tanker, fight with 3rd CAV, I hope.”
“Yeah, I wanna be a tanker too.” David revealed.
The conversation diluted to idle conversation, about women and tanker tactics, hardly combinable. David looked out his small window, and saw blackness. He handed even noticed they had lifted off!
To be continued (maybe)… I can’t write anymore. Yes their will be action (fighting) in next one.
