Khas'andro and the fleet contemplated the choice that had been brought before them. On one hand they could abandon Tassadar and return home. On the other they could stand with Tassadar and face uncertainty. Khas'andro was torn and he was unsure of what he should do. Sadly the choice would not be his to make as his carrier turned toward Aiur. The commander sought to return to Aiur and all those aboard were to be brought back home, with or without consent. Khas'andro stared into the blackness of space to see the few ships that remained with Tassadar, slowly drift into the abyss. Tassadar set out and looked for a planet to rest and collect his thoughts. He was now faced with a difficult challenge and he would need to be in the right state of mind to face the tasks ahead of him.
Khas'andro and his ship arrived on Aiur and were confronted by a host of soldiers. Any crew member who had been in contact with Tassadar were sent to meet with the Conclave. Perhaps these few soldiers could shed light upon the whereabouts of Tassadar. Khas'andro had never seen the Conclave and was scared to be in their presence. They sat on high thrones and stared down upon him with impunity. Then the questioning began.
"When did you last speak with Tassadar?"
"I spoke with him briefly two days ago."
"Did he seem distressed or was he acting strangely?"
"No, he seemed to be in the right state of mind."
"Do you know why he refused to destroy the Zerg forces on Mar Sara?"
"A terran fleet had intercepted us and demanded we retreat."
"Do you know where Tassadar is headed?"
"No."
"He is no use to us. None of those we have spoken to have given us any new information. Tassadar must be stopped and we don't even know where he is. Aldaris is ready to hunt Tassadar and bring him before us, but we do not know where he is."
Khas'andro listened to the conversation and began to formulate a plan. If he could go with Aldaris and find Tassadar, he could join him in battle. Khas'andro needed to think quickly or else the Conclave would dismiss him.
"I might know where Tassadar was headed."
The Conclave stopped talking and began to listen with a new found interest.
"What do you know young Khas'andro?"
"I saw in what direction Tassadar was headed. If he continued his course there was only one place he could safely go."
"Tell us and you shall be rewarded young Khas'andro."
"All I wish is to join Aldaris and hunt the traitor Tassadar. It would be an honor."
Khas'andro was sick to hear himself say such a thing, but the Conclave were convinced of his loyalty to their ideals.
"Very well, you shall accompany Aldaris and you will find Tassadar and bring him to us."
"As you wish."
Khas'andro left the room and felt dizzy. He was not sure if his plan would work and if it did, would his actions truly mean the capture of Tassadar. For Tassadar, it has been an equally frustrating experience. he is being shadowed by the new Zerg cerebrate Kerrigan and this new form is deadlier and more ruthless than any Zerg before her. He has escaped Char for now and must take refuge on a abandoned Terran platform. The Protoss find mineral and gas storage's and set up a small base of operations. Moral is low and there is no telling what will become of them. A few days pass and a small ship is seen in the distance. It is a terran ship and it appears to be under attack by Zerg. The Protoss prepare for battle as the Zerg and ship draw near. The terran vessel lands or more appropriately crashes onto the platform. A lone terran emerges from the ruins and looks at the Protoss he is surrounded by. Tassadar and this terran look each other over and size each other up. The silence is broken by the shrieks of mutalisks. Tassadar calmly turns and closes his eyes. Through focus, a ball of energy is gathered and is unleashed on the mutalisks flock. The helpless flyers are caught in a swirl of energy beams and their bodies burst under the pressure of the storm and rain a mix of blood and entrails. Tassadar turns back to the terran who is busy pulling a small vehicle from his downed aircraft. Tassadar is strangely puzzled and amused as the terran merely goes about his business. Finally the terran looks up and stares at the motionless Protoss soldiers.
"Well don't just stand there, help me get this hunk of junk outta here."
Tassadar is taken aback by the nerve of this lone terran. The shock gives to amusement and that leads to laughter. For the first time in a long time, Tassadar is able to laugh.
"Forgive me terran, there has not been much reason to laugh for me in a long time."
"Your welcome I guess, but enough with all that terran stuff. Names Jim Raynor, pleasure to meet you."
"I am Tassadar, fugitive of the Protoss."
"Your in trouble too, huh. I'm on the run from guys too, not to mention Kerrigan and her goons..err..Zerg."
"You too have encountered Kerrigan in her more unpleasant form."
"Yeah, I can't believe what's happened to her. It just isn't right."
"Those Zerg who followed you here, are there more?"
"Not really sure. There could be and I wouldn't be surprised if there were."
"Send a small group to search the platform. If there are Zerg I want them found."
"So what are you here for Tassadar?"
"I refused to destroy your worlds and the Zerg on them."
"So you were the fleet that retreated at Mar Sara. Glad you did or I would be toast."
"I am truly sorry for what I have done. The actions of my people were inappropriate."
"Don't sweat it man. Mar Sara was doomed to begin with. The Zerg just moved in and killed everything. It was only a matter of time."
"Tassadar! The Zerg are here. Have landed and their forces are all over the platform. We are trapped."
"Return to base and prepare for a full Zerg attack. Open a distress beacon and alert all troops."
"If you need me, my bike is ready to go."
"Thank you Raynor. We will need as much help as we can get."
The Protoss prepared for a Zerg assault, but unknown to them, Aiur was also planning for defense of their world. The Zerg Overmind had landed and now it sought to kill the Protoss. Aldaris was ready to leave. but every warrior would be needed for battle. Khas'andro wanted to help Tassadar, but Aiur needed every last Protoss. Fight for his hero or for his homeworld?
Should Khas'andro stay and fight the Zerg or should he go with Aldaris to find Tassadar?
