SCV Incorporated Presents...

Or the alternate title: 'How Starookie got his game back'

OK so maybe the title is a bit grand, but seeings as how I'd just finished watching "Raiders of the Lost Ark", I couldn't help my self. After a failed attempt at finding a good game to report in the Aus-1 channel I decided to try my luck in ~Nohunters. After making it clear that I wanted to observe a game for a potential battle report, (mostly by shouting "OBS! OBS! GAME U HOES") a game was organised.

Unfortunately, game 1 turned out to be a farce, with everyone except Starookie deciding that they wanted to obs. With only one player, the game ended fairly quickly and we decided to remake.

This time a challenger stepped up to face Starookie and the game began again. Without further ado I present...

Notice the nifty Star Wars font

The map chosen was Lost Temple (no surprise there) and as the game began, my fellow observers, :+:SlipKnoT:+:, Wangsonn, unvytae and Hostile~SCV settled down to watch.

Both players randomed thier races, with Starookie warping in as Protoss at the 6o'clock position and his opponent LuckyNewbie:p morphing in as Zerg at 3o'clock

Woohoo, I think every other map in my Starcraft file has been deleted and replaced with 3746494736 different Temple Obs maps

You may have noticed an orange building in that map as well, and if you didn't see it, look again. That was Hostile~SCV. He missed out on an observer spot and was forced to choose Terran and float his Command Center. Or so we thought.....

Both players set about thier build orders which went as follows:

I'm using this idea again, and still claiming the glory

The first action of the game came when Hostile~SCV decided to make a nusiance of himself and sent his 5 SCVs towards Newbie's Main. Showiing some tuly god-like micro abilites Hostile~SCV managed to dance his SCVs around a hungy pack of Zerglings until one was killed at which point the SCVs decided to live to fight another day and retreated.

Fear the swarm... Fear it Starookie mustered his force of three Zealots and 2 Dragoons and sent them marching towards Newbie's base. They parked outside and the Dragoons proceeded to blast a scouting Overlord into oblivion.

Not at all happy with this, Newbie sent his force of newly made Zerglings and Hydralisks out to deal with the Protoss interlopers. After a brief struggle the Protoss forces pulled back to just past Newbie's choke.

Starookie adds another Gateway, while Newbie begins upgrading his Hatchery to a Lair. At the same time, both players begin building thier forces for the next round of combat.

When Newbie has around 20 Zerglings and 5 Hydras, he sends a scout to Starookie's base to have a look. Unfortunately for Newbie it dies before doing anything useful. Fortunately for Starookie this means that it fails to see the newly warped Protoss expansion.

the truth hurtsMeanwhile, :+:SlipKnoT:+: provides us with this insightful piece of information:

Maybe they should have stayed home...After beating up on a lone Zealot who appears to be wandering drunkenly around the map (Malt Liquor and scouting don't go together well) the Zerg mass begins to move. They march down the map to the Protoss base where they meet up with Starookie's defending force.

The Zerglings, being the speedy little bugs that they are arive first and are promtly cut to shreds by the Zealots and Dragoons. The Hydras arrive shortly afterwards, and their fate is much the same.

After having thier tails whipped, Newbie retreats what remains of his force back to his main, closely pursued by the victorious Protoss forces of Starookie, which halt just outside the Zerg choke.

yeah thats right, SCVs own u all =)It is now that Newbie plays his trump card, and Hostile~SCV's killer bounty hunter SCVs charge into the fray, prompting this response from Starookie

Luckily for Starookie the killer bounty hunter SCVs don't much like the odds and beat a hasty retreat leaving the Protoss troops to face the Zerg menace on thier own.

OK Ducks, Flying VNewbie decides that he has had enough of this containment garbage and gets his troops ready to bust out. A mass of Hydras assaults the waiting Protoss and despite a brave fight the warriors from Aiur are overrun and Newbie's forces press on towards Starookie's base.sneaky, dirty and downright devilish However, the killer bounty hunter SCVs are already there and have been busily welding the poor probes to death.

brave little probesThe Zerg forces push onwards to the Protoss base and the few defenders there are easily swept away. Starookie puts up a brave fight at the ramp to his main, using his probes to block so that his lone Dragoon can take shots, but the overwhelming Zerg numbers are too much and the defence crumbles.

With his base in flames Starookie demands a rematch, blaming the killer bounty hunter SCVs for his demise.

It was only because of the SCVS u knowAnd the winner is:

So now we continue on to

Part II

Not happy with his showng in the last game, Starookie issues a rematch challenge. However, LuckyNewbie:p being the cunning devil he is manages to switch places to an observer spot before the game starts, thus leaving the game as a battle between

The font is Atari Kids, if you're wondering

Again, the map is Lost Temple, and both players randomly select thier races. Starookie draws Protoss again, this time at the 9o'clock start, while his opponent Wangsonn is Zerg at the 3o'clock location.

Temple, yet again...

The players begin with thier build order looking like this:

still taking credit.

Stay and Fight you girlsStarookie sends his first three Zealots to Wangsonn's main where they meet a posse of nine Zerglings. The Zealots show that yellow is the right colour for them and turn tail and run. (the sunken colony at the top of the ramp might have had something to do with it as well)

It's worth noting that while LuckyNewbie:p managed to avoid the rematch, he also managed to get the top observer spot and was therefore in control of the bengelaas that roams the map. Not really useful, but he did prove to be annoying.

Back at his main, Starookie warps in a Citadel of Adun as he begins the tech tree to Templar. At the same time, he begins to gather his troops just inside his choke point to fend off any early Zerg attacks.

he came so close...And it's a lucky thing he did for at that very moment a hungry pack of Zerglings and Hydralisks was following a bengelaas across the map (the Bengey had promised them a free feed apparently). Wangsonn's eleven Zerglings and five Hydras crash into Starookie's defence which consists of five Zealots and three Dragoons.

The battle rages back and forth, and Wangsonn manages to eliminate all the defence, but loses all but one Hydra, which is quickly dispatched as more Protoss reinforcements show up in the form of two more Zealots and another Dragoon. With no more units to continue the fight, the Zerg push is halted.

look, I've got moss on my cape. No wonder they can see meWangsonn begins the upgrade from Hatch to Lair, while at the same time Starookie starts an expansion at his natural. He also sends his first two Dark templar to scout the Zerg but they run into a wall of Hydralisks supported by an Overlord and are quickly driven off.

LuckyNewbie:p also wanders his Bengelaas into the Zerg main, but before it can do any harm, it is gobbled down by some rabid Hydras.

dt's > UWith his Hydras now fed and happy, Wangsonn goes on the offensive again, sending his nine Hydras out towards Starookie's base. However, they meet up with the Protoss forces in the middle of the map. They may have won too, but with no Overlord for detection, the Zerg fall quickly to the warp blades of the Dark Templar.

Wangsonn displays some tricky micro to buy time for his Overlord to arrive but it is to no avail, and he pulls the remaining Hydras back to regroup. Starookie continues to push, sending his victorious troops to the Zerg ramp. The are forced to retreat though from frsh Hydras and that Sunken Colony.

Wangsonn believes that two can play at the invisible troops game and begins morphing Hydras into Lurkers. The Lurkers scurry out and burrow, and spines begin to punch holes in the Protoss shields. Without detection, Starookie's troops fall back to a safe distance. With the barricade removed from his choke, Wangsonn sends a drone northwards to start an expansion at the 12o'clock main.

Wang you godly micro manAgain, Wangsonn readies his troops to attack. This time, with Overlords and Lurkers in support, the Zerg begin to push into the middle of the map. They encounter Protoss troops coming to reinforce the blockade, including those nemisis of the swarm, the High Templar.

The Lurkers burrow, acid spines fly and warp blades slash. In a brilliant display, Wangsonn manages to dodge every one of Starookie's storms with his Hydras. The Lurkers are a little less lucky and begin to explode as psionic enery buffets them. The Zealots also charge into the fray and soon all the Hydras are dead or retreating. The Zerg attack has been broken again.

This is the end...With yet another failed attack Wangsonn decides to build up some more before having another go. He expands to his natural and adds another Hatchery at the top of his ramp. Starookie also expands again, this time to his mineral only.

But Starookie's isn't happy to let Wangsonn rebuild. He takes his troops and begins an assault on the Zerg base. This time there are only a few scattered Hydras to stop him and these are quickly eliminated by Psi Storms or Zealot blades. With no units to cary on the fight and the enemy running rampant in his main, Wangsonn offers a GG and conceeds the game.

Starookie
And the winner is:

And now, some parting words for you all from Starookie
