| A 2v2 turns into 3v1. Newbies are dumb bastards aren't they? | | | Author: | | | IP: | spider-sXXXX | | Date: | 10/28/00 04:10 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 3, Min: 3 Lifetime Rating for [SM]Strega~F: 7.2000 | | Intro
Hi, this is my first report and I don't have any screenshots (I was too busy playing the game!) so go easy on me. One night while I was searching through the Battle.net games I found something that looked fun. A 2v2 game, no newbies. I joined and I was paired up with some guy (can't remember his name) who I'll refer to as Un-Ethical Bastard Man, or Bastard for short. We were pitted against SonicDisaster and ~Who?. We were to play on The Hunters (regular version) and it looked to be a fun game. I was in the bottom middle position and my partner was in the bottom left position. Early scouting showed that SonicDisaster was zerg at the mid left, while ~Who? was protoss at the top left. Close starting positions for both teams. As it turns out, this was a double-zerg vs zerg-protoss game.
Early Game or Before The Betrayal
I went for my usual hatchery at my natural before my spawning pool. If this works (works more often in team games like this one) it gives me an excellent advantage over the rest of the saps. Shortly into the game, everybody agreed to have a no-rush period of at least 5 minutes. ~Who? was blocking himself in while keeping top middle and the natural there for later purposes. Regular newbie style, going for carriers no doubt. SonicDisaster was massing zerglings and hadn't got gas yet. I, on the other hand, had the only expansion so far, 24 lings and 12 hydras sitting outside of Sonic's base. My partner, Bastard, had some sunkens, some zerglings and was getting a spire. As far as I could tell I had the only upgrades. They were : zergling speed upgrade, hydra speed upgrade, hydra range upgrade, level 2 attacks, level 1 armor and level 1 armor for my flying units that I was just making. Bastard said something like "HEY! No rushing! That's it! You're a cheater!" and promptly unallied with me. All I could assume was that the 3 players had an agenda of their own. This could get bad...
Mid Game or Newbies Suck
Seeing my plight I quickly attacked Bastard and, knowing his base, took quick work on his sunkens and zerglings. After his defense fell he left the game. I quickly rallied my troops and started producing more mutalisks and hydras, while upgrading the entire time. As ~Who? was blocking himself in I assumed that he wouldn't be a threat. Just like newbies, SonicDisaster had some defense and mass of one unit. His unupgraded zerglings quickly fell to my hydraling force backed up by some mutas. To take out his sunkens all I needed was some mutas in there and voila! SonicDisaster is no more than a stale piece of bread. I quickly mop him up and then proceed to lose nearly all of my units to mass photons. After a few minutes I was ready to go again.
End Game or God DAMN Newbies Are Soooooooo Stupid!!!
What is the best thing for the zerg to combat photons? That's right! Guardians! I made 12 of these expensive little bastards and backed them up with 24 hydras for air protection. I managed to take out 5 photons without losing a single unit when ~Who? said "You're too good for me, you win" and then left!!! I can think of about a million ways that the protoss can stop 12 guardians easily! Lets see, there's Psi Storm, mass Dragoons, or, let me see, ANY AIR UNIT WHATSOEVER!!!!! He didn't even see my hydras cos they were a little way back and he still gave up!! this can mean only one thing. He had no anti-air units. This is about half an hour into the game and all he has is photons and 1 expansion. Joining a game that says "No newbies" and then pulling this shit will guarantee your death. Stupid newbies, how I hate them so!
Lessons Learned
- Un-allying with your partner who is right next to you, with more untis than you and with better upgrades than you is NOT a smart thing to do!
- Massing one unit and not expanding during a no-rush period is absolute stupidity!!
- Blocking yourself in while playing a "No newbies" game will guarantee your death!!!
- Giving up at the first sign of trouble (~Who? and Bastard both did) is just idiotic. At least have the courtesy to stick around an fight to the bitter end!!!!
This report was a [SM]Strega~F production, please feel free to challenge me to a game if you see me on b.net. (I use the same name in there) |
